A delightful guide for keeping your family active in winter, when snow falls and the weather freezes. Recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for an advanced copy of this book.

50 Things To Do In The Snow ended up not quite being the book I thought it was going to be. At first, it appears to be recommendations for families on a snow day, but the beginning opens up with a guide to survival equipment. It shows difficult tasks, like building an igloo, with the assumption that you already have certain knowledge. It seems that the author really wanted to cover everything, but it tries to focus on too much and never goes in depth enough to successfully cover some of the topics. Many of the 50 activists listed in the book are not actually snow specific.

This book is going to be for a very niche reader, most likely someone who already spends a good amount of time in snowy areas and has preexisting knowledge. For those readers, I think they'll be able to find several good activity suggestions in this book.

Living in the Midwest with four young kids, and now my in-laws buying a vacation home out west, I am in need of all the ideas for snow play. This. Book. Had. It. All. I would HIGHLY suggest everyone purchase this book if you live in a snow area. Itd be a great gift. It had so many fun ideas! Our family left post it notes throughout this whole book. I can’t wait to try these out! Wonderfully put together and a beautiful book all around.

What a beautiful book! This would be wonderful to have at a winter cabin or vacation home in the snow. It would also be a great gift for an adventurous friend or family member as many of the activities include handiwork or survival skills. Definitely coffee table book material.

I especially appreciated the emphasis on safety at the beginning. My partner does winter sports and mountaineering and safety is essential!

The illustrations are lovely and the entire book is hyggeligt—cozy in the midst of winter :)

Can't wait to try some of these ideas out with my family next winter. I especially want to try the snow lanterns, bird feeders, and colored icicles.
