Another beautiful cookbook from Sarah Kieffer. Full of delicious sounding recipes each with an accompanying hunger-inducing, diet-wrecking photo. In her previous book her recipe for banana bread is the best I’ve ever made so I can’t wait to dive into the recipes in this one. It starts with a chapter on how to use the cookbook including equipment, oven temperatures, etc. then moves on to the recipes that are divided up into type: snack cakes, pies, bars, etc. I can’t wait to make the banana bread bars, milk chocolate swirl brownies, oatmeal fudge bars, and blueberry muffin cake among several others. She gives clear instructions so I think this cookbook will appeal to both novice and experienced bakers. I’d definitely buy a copy for myself or as a gift.

**Thanks to the author and publisher for the e-arc I received via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.**

I am one who is always searching for easy and delicious desert recipes. This book has many, my favorite that I will be making soon is the Cheater Croissant Dough, croissant are a delicacy that I found making intimidating so I’ve never even tried. But this recipe feels right for a croissant making newbie like me.

Warning: Do not read this on an empty stomach!! You will immediately want to make every single delicious looking sweet. All 100 of them! I can't wait to start baking. If you've got a sweet tooth, this one's for you! Don't say I didn't warn you!

I really enjoyed seeing all of the different recipes! I appreciate the range of flavors of the recipes as well. Looking forward to making these for my family and friends.

I have an unrelenting sweet tooth, so I was excited to read this cookbook!

The book is divided into an introductory section with cooking and ingredient tips and then into seven categories of recipes. Most recipes are 9-12 servings, but the author includes a ‘For a Crowd’ section with up to 24 servings. I wish there were estimates on cooking times for each recipe, but the author, Sarah Kieffer, includes all of the weights for each ingredient, which I love since that is my preferred way to measure for baking. The first recipe section is ‘One-Bowl Bakes’ which is mainly snacking cakes. I would say that that section had the fewest recipes that appealed to me because I am not much of a cake person. The ‘Brownies, Blondies and Bars’ was my favorite section, with at least six recipes I immediately added to my to-bake list. The ' Pie Bakes’ were creative and had some unique ideas; I think they would be great for baking for guests or to take to dinners with friends. I was surprised to find the ‘Extras’ section so useful. I will be referring to this section often!

I received an advanced copy of this book through Net Galley.

100 Cookies was such a hit - I was thrilled to see that Sarah would be releasing yet another cookbook. Love that each recipe has a corresponding photo - such a great component to a cookbook. Looking forward to making so many of the recipes from the one bowl & brownies/bars sections! Can't wait to add 100 Afternoon Sweets to my growing collection of Sarah's fabulous cookbooks.

Love the idea of an “afternoon sweet” ✨

The recipe typography and photos were simple and stylized wonderfully.

Here are some of the recipes I dog-eared to try immediately:

🤍 Raspberry Poppy Seed Cake
🤍 Passion Fruit S’mores Pie
🤍 Pumpkin Caramel Ice Cream Cake
🤍 Kitchen Sink Crispy Treats
🤍 Giant Pop Tart (!!!)

The music to bake to playlist was a super cute touch, too!

This cookbook is pure gold! My daughter was home sick so we made the giant pop tarts and they were a hit! I love the way the cookbook is displayed and organized as well. This made it easy to find exactly what I was feeling like making. I appreciated the gorgeous photos as I am definitely a visual baker.
This is a must buy and I am so thankful to have gotten the chance to try it!

Literally just a super solid baking cookbook. Great recipes, great information, and super cute aesthetic. This made me want to go back and look at Sarah Kieffer's other recipes.

Another delightful book of fantastic recipes by Sarah Kieffer! This lovely read is chock full of delicious bakes and mouthwatering photos, making it tough to decide what to start with. I love how the book is organized and accessible - one pan recipes, enough for a crowd, weekend projects… just awesome. Now, as someone who enjoys savory bakes, that’s the one thing missing for me that I think 100 Morning Bakes included, but maybe Sarah’s next book will feature more? Fingers crossed. Thanks so much to the author/baker, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity!

Another favorite from Sarah Kieffer!! This might be the best one yet. Every recipe is so well done and I can't wait to try them. The "no bake" and "one bowl" chapters will be so fun to work through with my toddler! This is a beautiful and well thought out book that would make a great gift for any baker during the holidays.

I can't wait to add the physical copy to my collection. Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. It felt like Christmas seeing this appear on my app!

The Sections are

Pie Bakes
No Bakes
For a Crowd
Weekend Projects

I first discovered Sarah Kieffer in 2020 when, like everyone else, I was stuck at home and decided to do some baking. Thus, I made my way through her book, 100 Cookies, trying a new cookie recipe every week or so. Needless to say I became very popular with my family and neighbors, and my baking skills improved as well. Then in 2021, she released Baking for the Holidays, which was a winner as well. Just as with her previous two books, 100 Afternoon Sweets is full of delicious recipes, accompanied by gorgeous pictures and detailed but not overly complicated directions. I also appreciate that each recipe has a little story behind why Sarah loves it. I received an advanced digital copy of this in exchange for my honest review, and I can't wait to buy my own copy this Fall to add to my ever growing Sarah Kieffer collection.

How do bakers keep coming up with new ideas? One of Sarah Kieffer's baking books is already on my cookbook shelf. I'm gonna need a bigger shelf. There was a lot of great recipes in this book, although I felt that it could have used more, just seemed a bit short. As always with Kieffer's books, it was easy to read and put to use! I can't wait for the Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Cake! I thank NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the advance read and the few extra pounds!

Wow! This is exactly what I was hoping for!

I love bar cookies and I tried out a lot of recipes over the last decade. Often when I open a new baking book I see a majority of recipes I already tried but this little book here really surprised me! There were so many recipes I need to try immediately like the Banana Bread Brownies and the Passion Fruit Slice!

Of course there are also staples and introductions to baking for less experienced bakers so this book truly has it all!

I’ll definitely get myself a copy of this gem when it’s released!!

A big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Chronicle Books for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

One word: YUM!

Omg all of these recipes sound delicious and many seem very easy to make! I have followed Sarah for years on social media and cannot wait to make these!

Who can resist a book with a title like this one? Everyone would love a sweet afternoon snack - kids coming home from school, a mid-afternoon break at work, or a sweet with tea or coffee for a stay at home person! Chapter titles are 1. One-Bowl Bakes, for batter cakes, 2. Brownies, Blondies and Bars, 3. Pie Bakes, 4. No Bakes, 5. For a Crowd, 6. Weekend Projects, 7. Beginnings and Ends, and 8. Extras. Measurements are provided in American Units, Metric Units and by weight. Temperatures are in F and C.

In reading the Introduction, I even learned a few new tricks, and I've been baking at home for a very long time.

Beautifully photographed, Lucious looking snacks fill this book. I may just have to try all the brownie and blondie recipes. I never thought of using toasted sesame oil and sesame seeds in a blondie, but I love them so I'm ready to try that recipe. But I'm planning to bake the Brown Butter Banana Blondies first!

My mouth watered at the pies, which aren't your grandmother's pies at all. Mmm. Chocolate Irish Cream Mousse Pie! No Bakes includes recipes for many ice cream cakes and other treats. The book has 304 pages of great ideas. I think you'll find any number of snack or desserts that you'll love.

The recipes were easy to follow with staple ingredients. I think for beginner bakers or folks who dont have a lot of time this cookbook could be a good reference. You will need to convert to ounces.

Just looking at the cover made me hungry, the book is very well written, there are step by step explanations on how to prepare delicious desserts, and it also explains in detail the various steps to prepare some basic recipes, useful for many desserts.

I loved reading all of the recipes in this cookbook! I learned so many new ones that I was previously unfamiliar with/had never heard of before. Everything looks so delicious based on the photos included in this cookbook by the author. I cannot wait to try out some of the recipes in this book. I like that the author separated her various recipes into a number of categories such as "one bowl bakes," "brownies, blondies, and bars," and "no bakes." This made it a lot easier to peruse the recipes in the cookbook and find the specific recipe I was looking for.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beautifully photographed recipe book for bakers and anyone that loves dessert.
The instructions were clear and concise and I'd rate this book in between Beginner and Intermediate in level with enough recipes to keep any baker, new or experienced, happy.
Favorites I intend to add to my own list of baked yummies include the Smokey Butterscotch Cream Pie and the Sunken Chocolate Cake. Cannot wait to flex these gorgeous treats in my kitchen or at the next family gathering.
The only off note to the book was that it was somewhat difficult to read in ebook form. This is definitely a book you will want a physical copy of.

I already own a Sarah Kieffer sweets book and this is a great addition to that for the complete set. With that said, I do feel like you really don't need both (some recipes are carry overs from the cookie book) but there are definitely plenty of new ones to offset that. I will probably skip a physical copy, but as with her first book the recipes are amazing and super easy to follow. Baking is no easy task but Sarah takes the fear away!

I have the other two books in this series. This one doesn't disappoint and I have tried several of the recipes. What I like best is that the recipes are easy to follow. I highly recommend this book.

I am astounded by how beautiful this book is and how amazing all 100 recipes for afternoon snacks are. Every cake, pie, brownie, pastry, croissant, and more described made me drool and review the recipes to see if I had the ingredients available. Will be buying for my home library and for my friends who love to whip up desserts!

I love a baking book that provides options and variety! 100 Afternoon Sweets has treats for anyone and everyone. Bars, pies, cakes, no bakes, one person or big crowd, plus some great recipes for extras to round it all out (just know there are no cookies though). Whether you are new to baking or an expert looking for something new, there is a recipe or tip for you. The intro does a good job of introducing you to the author, her recommendations, and suggestions for success. Ingredients are provided in both forms of measurement for ease of use, regardless of your location. I especially love all the buttercream options. The only problem I had was figuring out where to start and wanting one of everything!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

I love Sarah Kieffer’s blog and often bake recipes from her “100 Cookies” book, so I was excited to get an advance copy of her latest cookbook.

My favorite sections were “One Bowl Bakes” and “Brownies, Blondies and Bars” as they required limited ingredients and usually just a 9x13in baking pan. I did notice that many of the recipes used 5-6 egg whites (I never know what to do with the egg yolks and hate wasting them) as well as oil (vegetable, canola, etc), which is a combination that usually produces a moist cake.

Most of the recipes in the book are approachable and would make for a simple but delicious dessert or snack to share with friends or bring to a gathering. The one thing that I didn’t love did not have to do with the recipes themselves, but rather some of the photos. I like to visually see all the layers of a baked good, particularly cakes with frosting or crumb topping so that I can gauge what my final product should look like. I would estimate about 1/3 of the photos are top-down views of the finished recipe and while the images are beautiful, a shot facing the side or overhead/side angle is better for readers to visualize what their final result should look like, hence my removal of one star for my rating.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book!

Pros: The cover of this book caught my attention immediately because the cookie bars looked delicious. I love to bake, so I was excited to get new recipe ideas from this book. One of my favorite things about this book is that there is a photo of every recipe. I find that to be so helpful when I'm baking something for the first time--it's a guide to make sure I'm on the right track! I also appreciated that the recipes in this book are accessible to bakers of all skill levels, they use easy-to-find ingredients, and they offer detailed instructions.

Cons: I wish I had a sweet treat to eat while reading!

Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of 100 Afternoon Sweets.

I'm not on social media so the author wasn't familiar to me.

But the title caught my eye since I have a sweet tooth. OK, that's a lie. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth.

I love books by Chronicle because their production values are high and it shows in the gorgeous photos!

Photos of every recipe, thank YOU!

There are recipes most people will enjoy like yellow cake and originals like hazelnut frangipane cake and maple bourbon sticky bun cake.

I prefer chocolate but I appreciate the diversity of recipes here, all flavors and tastes to try and broaden your palate with.

There's a little something for everyone in this book, though I agree with some reviewers that not all of the recipes are a quick baking session in the kitchen.

Some recipes require time and patience and are pretty labor intensive, but well worth the trouble.

Beautiful book and great recipes for any time of day, not just the afternoon.

Sarah Kieffer is the author of the cookbook “100 Cookies”, so naturally I was ecstatic to see her new cookbook “100 Afternoon Sweets.” It’s filled with information in regards to baking (ingredients, tools, etc), which makes it extremely easy to follow along for less experienced bakers. In the beginning of the book you also learn how she came up with the cookbook title, which allows us to connect with the author and it’s very relatable.

One of my biggest turn offs in a cookbook, is the lack of photos. This is the total opposite, I believe every single recipe has a photo that goes along with it. That’s what gets your mouth watering and makes you want to head into the kitchen immediately to test recipes. I can’t wait to make many of these and present them to my family for reviews, there’s so many good ones I’m not sure where to start.

I would highly recommend this cookbook to any friends or someone wanting a variety of recipes.

Feel free follow my social media accounts, I will be sharing my review of this book prior to the publishing date.

An excellent collection of recipes beautifully laid out and photographed. A recommended purchase for collections where baking books are popular.

The biggest thing I liked about this cookbook is that the recipes are easy to follow and require tons of ingredients! I love cookbooks that are for everyday cooking! This cookbook is full of so many yummy recipes. I loved the inclusion of the photos. It made the recipes stand out even more. I can’t wait to start baking!

Another stunner from Sarah Kieffer. I love this collection of cookbooks. The recipes are fun but not overly fussy. We made the Oatmeal Fudge Bars and they were a hit. I'm often looking for something I can make quickly in the afternoon between work and dinner so this is the perfect collection. Not to mention it is beautiful. I love that it matches the other books in the series. Even though I used the ebook its clear that it is the same quality as the previous versions. Beautiful gold details and gorgeous pictures.

Ooh, another great book from Sarah Kieffer! I loved 100 Morning Treats, and 100 Afternoon Treats is even better! So many gorgeous pictures, and all the recipes look amazing. This is going to be another book that I need a hard copy of!

I enjoy Sarah Kieffer's cookbooks so much. This one definitely did not disappoint either. There is a wide variety of different treats that have accessible ingredients one may have already in their pantry.

Delicious! That is the only way I can really explain this book. And now I want to make cake for snacks everyday!

I've heard incredible things about Sarah Kieffer's previous cookbooks and am so impressed by her newest! The beginning of the cookbook has some very helpful advice, especially for new bakers, such as how to measure different ingredients and use different equipment. The layout of this book and the images are stunning and I'm very excited to make some of these recipes this summer!

I tried out one recipe, and baked a blueberry muffin cake. The cookbook's page formatting is clean and easy to follow, and I appreciate that every recipe has a picture. The blueberry muffin cake turned out great. I’d recommend this cookbook to anyone interest in trying a bunch of basic yet exciting recipes.

Cookbooks have recently become a fun thing to browse at. Now that I’m inching out of baby phase and have a little more time for that part of life. And my daughter absolutely loves to help cook. So with summer around the corner, I wrote down some fun ideas our family can try out. It was very fun to recieve some advance copies of these cookbooks. 🥗🍔🌮🍤🍪🧁🧀🥚🍇🥯

Gathering Boards by Sarah Tuthill was making my mouth water. I love a good charcuterie board, and this book was chalked full of ideas, how to lay the board out, different seasonal boards. I want this book for a coffee table book because the pictures were so vibrant and beautiful. It made me want to text all my girl pals and plan a patio night. (Publishing date is June 3) @globepequot @sugaredlittletreats

100 Afternoon Sweets by Sarah Kieffer made me walk to the pantry and grab my secret stash of chocolate. I have so many post its for this one to make with my daughter this summer. I always run into the problem of never knowing what to bring to a girls night, or family cookout. But this book had SO many yummy treats that anyone can make. (Publishing date Sept 30) @chroniclebooks @sarah_kieffer

The Crab Pot Cookbook by The Griffin Family….this was hands down a beautiful and such a fun family effort cookbook! I LOVE seafood, and tell my husband that we must retire or visit frequent the east coast so I can have my lobster. I live in the Midwest, but let me tell you, I am bringing this cookbook out for some fun summer nights! I love the explanations, the creative new things I’ve never heard of, and it was so beautifully put together. It made me want to meet this family for how fun it was. (Publishing date October 14) @thegriffinfamily__ @flashpointchicago

A Couples Cookbook by Sonja Overhiser and Alex Overhiser was the most precious couples cookbook I’ve read. I received many for my wedding gifts, but this tops them all. I loved the introduction full of their story, and the pictures of them throughout the book. The meals looked so fun, and easy, and it was so beautifully put together. My husband and I always say it will be fun to make more than our five staple kids dinners eventually. @acouplecooks

Another winner from Sarah Kieffer..I’ve been a big fan going back as far as the vanilla bean baking book and all her subsequent titles..Her recipes have easy to follow instructions, weights are given in both imperial and metric and the results are always delicious! I’ll be adding this book to my personal shelf and will bake my way through it cover to cover as I’ve done with her previous books..Thank you net galley for this arc.

This book is absolutely fantastic! The directions are clear and all recipes are simple to follow. I made the brownies and OH MY GOSH! So good! Can’t wait to recreate more recipes!

Another excellent collection of wonderful recipes from Sarah Kieffer and this cookbook showcases how dependable and fail-proof her recipes are just like all the others from previous books!

Discovering Sarah Kieffer was probably one of the best things that happened to me and I love baking. I love Sarah's recipes, I own all of her cookbooks and love them all, her recipes do not disappoint and always bring joy to bakers and anyone who's blessed to taste the baked goods. Just like all the other cookbooks of hers, this is well-written, well-organized, has beautiful photographs, comes with metric measurement to ensure successful end results, and a chock full of fantastic and approachable recipes! I have made Sugar Cookie Bars and it was great, although I noticed adding in vanilla extract part is missing in the instruction.

I'm a huge fan of Sarah and always will be. I have already pre-ordered the book and am planning to gift this to my cousins and close friends. I can't wait to have the actual copy in my hand to bake with! I love, love, love Sarah Kieffer!!!

This is a stunning book with beautiful photography. The recipes are absolutely delicious. This is the perfect book for someone with a sweet tooth. It definitely has something for everyone. The instructions are easy to follow with easily available ingredients. However, the results look very impressive. My only issue would be that I feel like the title does a bit of a disservice to this book. Before I read it, I thought the recipes would be simple sweet afternoon snacks. However, while the recipes would make good afternoon snacks, they would be great for birthdays, get-togethers, and entertaining guests as well. This book would make the perfect gift for a friend, family member, or as a house warming present.

You know that 3:00 sinking feeling you get? But it is too early for dinner or something big. So a little sweet pick me up is perfect. Just because it says Afternoon Sweets doesn't mean you can't have these anytime. These are little cakes, brownies and bars that are just the right size for a quick bite. Some are simple and can be made in one bowl. These would be perfect to take into the office and share with co workers. Most are made in a classic 9x13 baking pan. So plenty to share. Even a few no bake items with ice cream. This is a great cookbook to have on the shelf to pull out when you need a little something sweet. I'm sure you will find something to bake tonight.

This collection of afternoon sweets was a real gathering of deliciousness, and I found several recipes I would love to try in the future. I was worried it would just be a bunch of simple, uninspired snacks, but there were some really good ideas in this.

This is a lovely and beautiful cookbook! One of my favorite things was all of the pictures -- I really need and want that in a cookbook; I love to see what the final product looks like and to get excited about making it. I also loved the variety. This is NOT your typical brownie and cookie cookbook but rather there is a huge variety of the flavors and styles represented and I absolutely think there's something for everyone. This would be a great addition to a public library. It would also make a great gift for a baker in your life particularly with some baking tools, a dishtowel, or some ingredients to go with it--it would be absolutely adorable in a mixing bowl with some measuring cups or a spoon and dishtowel and some ribbon. Definitely recommend for the baker in your life or your culinary or adult collection!

Another excellent collection of recipes from Sarah Kieffer. I always find her recipes dependable and delicious. Being a fellow midwesterner I love having such a deep well of bar and cookie recipes to draw from. I’m sure this will be another batter splattered and butter stained cookbook in the collection.

I’m such a fan of Sarah Kieffer’s books and was thrilled to see 100 Afternoon Sweets will be coming out! I’ve had success with all of the recipes I’ve tried from her other books so I’m excited to try out these ones. This book features baked goods you would typically crave in the afternoon with a cup of coffee or tea.

There are six categories of desserts including one-bowl baked, brownies, blondies, and bars, pie bakes, no bakes, for a crowd, and weekend projects. The book ends with buttercream and dough recipes along with some extra recipes like caramel and no-churn ice cream.. I love the variety of recipes in this book and there are definitely unique ideas that make buying this for your cookbook collection worth it.

This cookbook has a wonderful variety of recipes, from easy one bowl baking (Perfect afternoon snacking cake) to party size recipes (Strawberry Shortcake). There is a sweets recipe for everyday and every occasion! Beautifully photographed as well.

This was my first exposure to Sarah Kieffer's cookbooks, and I am hooked! I will be checking out her other titles. This book is delightful, beautiful, and elegant. I appreciated the range of recipes from every day enjoyment (brownies, blondies, snacking cakes, giant pop-tart) to elegant entertaining (pavlova, tiramisu, fig scones). The recipes are accessible to the average home baker and include both imperial and metric measurements. I appreciated that each recipe was accompanied by a beautifully styled picture. My favorite recipes are the Maple Orange Carrot Cake, Scotcharoo Blondies, and the Gluten-Free Cake (with whipped cream and berries). The baking playlist was a fun surprise at the end!! This cookbook radiated with much love and thoughtfulness.

This would be a great cookbook for anyone planning a bridal shower, afternoon-tea, or gifts to give away for the holidays.
