Description

It was a time of warring clans, bitter rivalries…and stolen kisses.

With soldiers marching into Glencoe intent on massacre, Lianna Fraser is forced to flee…but ends up falling from a rocky overpass into the arms of the very enemy she's trying to evade.

Cameron McKenzie has lost his ancestral lands and family because of Campbell, the war-mongering Earl of Breadalbane. Now, he's forced to march by Campbell's side to save his only surviving brother from the hangman's noose. But when fate offers him a chance to save another—a woman whose entire clan will soon be lost, he has no choice but to escape into the Scottish Highlands with her.

They are hunted, bound together by betrayal and desire. He knows she'll never truly believe his innocence, or trust in his vow to keep her safe. But he intends to do just that, even if it costs him his life.

Scotland 1692

An enemies to lovers novel that is written beautifully. I have been reading Virginia Brown books since the 1980’s as her regency novels are always amazing! However I think Scottish historicals are even better. I hope she stays in this genre as this a riveting romantic Scottish adventure with multi dimensional characters and detailed plots that will make readers gasp with anticipation not knowing what will happen next! A total nail biter that had my heart racing and holding on to the edge of my seat! A book I absolutely loved.

As a person who has traveled to Glencoe, Scotland which is stunning with all this history and the breathtaking fairy pools in the highlands, three sister mountains, Glencoe mountain, and waterfalls which is incredible! So for me this story was very special with a heartfelt special memory. I also have a jacobite heart and cried at every marker at Culloden battlefield! Ms. Brown is a phenomenal writer and here is another I absolutely recommend!

This is my first book read from Author Virginia Brown and I already have added more of her previously written books to my TBR! 📚

I have a slight addiction to stories set in Medieval Scotland. Although it was a very bloody time for the country - I enjoy “watching” couples fall in love amongst it all - the stories feel much more plausible and personal. This story features The Massacre of Glencoe that took place in Glen Coe in the Highlands of Scotland on 13 February 1692. If you are not familiar-some quick internet searches will fill you in on the horrific details. The story is also a romance and tells the story of a fictional couple-Cameron MacKenzie and Lianna Fraser, two people who fall in love and fight to survive, who were both in Glen Coe during the massacre.

This story captured my complete attention and although I knew there was a horrific event included in the plot I was still able to enjoy the romance aspect of it. The author does an exceptional job combining fiction with nonfiction without allowing historical content smother the romance.

Overall 4.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our hero, Cameron McKenzie has lost his lairdship and all the lands and house that goes with it, and his brother is wrongfully in jail. He finds himself marching with the Earl of Breadalbane to save his brother’s life and a young beauty named Lianne literally drops into his life. Tragedy strikes and the two go on the run and try to figure out how to live their lives as outlaws while saving those they love.

Virginia Brown is a queen of romantic historical fiction. This story is historically accurate, dramatic, and super romantic! I loved every page and She really does a great job transporting the reader to Jacobite Scotland. A traditional bodice-ripper, this book is true historical fiction with interspersed steamy scenes. I now have to go back and read more in her catalog! One of my favorites this year.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
