A delightful picture book that gets the balance of text and pictures just right. I've looked through the pictures several times to notice details such as how Argyle ends up using pieces from each of his failed games to create his kite. Kids may not understand the connection between his name and the many examples of argyle in the illustrations, but adults will enjoy those details, while kids will rejoice when Argyle finally figures out what to do for fun on a windy day. Perfect for one-on-one sharing with 3-5 year olds. Review based on an ARC received through NetGalley.

This was such a sweet children's book that follows a little fox named Argyle. All he wants to do is go outside and play, but the wind will become a bother and ruin all his plans. Will he find the perfect activity for a windy day?

I adored this book so much! The story was sweet and the art was beautiful! Cannot wait to get a physical copy.

Tis an average Children's book. It doesn't stand out as much as some others I've read recently. The cover is what initially drew me in. It's adorable. 💕

I wasn't a fan of the story. It doesn't really represent friendship well. Everyone just says noinstead of helping Argyle figure out the problem but at the end are right there to enjoy the benefits of the solution. 😒

This is such a sweet book! Poor Argyle Fox wants to play outside, but the wind keeps affecting his plans. I love this book for the character's perseverance and imagination. The illustrations are whimsical and fun!

Argyle Fox is an adorable story about a Fox who is struggling to find something he can play with on a very windy day. Each time something goes wrong with his idea, he finds another idea to try. Idea after idea goes wrong until Argyle finally gets frustrated and gives up. With his mother's advice, he tries again and is able to come up with something he can play with on a windy day. Argyle Fox is a story of determination and perseverance. It is a story to encourage creativity and never giving up. Argyle Fox would be the perfect read for a social/emotional lesson in a lower elementary classroom.

Perfect for Waldorf Families!

When I got done reading this book I thought…Wow! The writer must have a background in Waldorf education. I taught at a Waldorf school for many years and could envision having used this in my classroom. There is so much of the story in the illustrations. The scotch tape on the castle, the knitting of the kite, and the tossed aside treasures from previous in Argyle’s closet. My creative mess-making 5 year old could definitely relate!! Then there is the mom…she is keeping an eye out for her adventurous explorer, as she bends over to fish out the mail. Totally a mom (haha)! This strikes me as the type of book a child would read over and over. Curious little details will pop out each time. Parents can interact with their child and the book and ask questions about the illustrations as they read the book to increase comprehension. Argyle Fox is a treasure and worth putting in your library!

A beautiful book about a little fox who preserved and eventually found a new hobby and friends to share it with.

I think this would be a great book to share in a classroom or library reading time. It has a good lesson, beautiful pictures, and a fun story with a good moral.

This is such a beautiful picture book! The illustrations bring the story to life and are perfect for engaging young children. I love that Argyle Fox engages in a lot of imaginative play - with so many children having access to tablets and smart phones it's nice to see a book that will (hopefully) also inspire them to play in other ways. I also really appreciated that his mom didn't just tell him how to fix his problem and instead encouraged him to try to solve it on his own. I look forward to seeing many more stories with Argyle Fox!

Argyle Fox is a sweet story about a young fox who just wants to play, but the wind keeps ruining his fun. My four year old absolutely loved this story, declaring it “a cool one.” The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is so fun! It ends with a really great lesson in perseverance and problem solving, too, which is always a great thing for kids! I highly recommend this adorable book!

What a sweet book. Lovely illustrations and an excellent story. I look forward to sharing this one with my kids.

The adorable Argyle Fox just wants to play outside on a nice spring day, but everything he wants to play with just can't stand up to the wind! Finally he thinks and thinks and comes up with the perfect solution...(no spoilers!)...and all his neighbors and friends come to play too! I found the illustrations utterly charming, and I think any child can be empathetic to Argyle's frustrations!

This sweet children's book is 32 pages long.

Argyle Fox is continually thwarted by the wind in his efforts to play outside on a windy day. The wind keeps "wooosh"ing and blows down his card tower, it frustratingly tangles up a web, it blows off his pirate hat, throws his ball into a tree and messes up his castle.

Frustrated he declares he's done. His mom challenges him to figure out a way to work with the wind and eventually he does.

This book shares a great message of perseverance and problem-solving; I also like that it reinforces the message that parents, not purple dinosaurs or other children, are children's first line of defense when life gets difficult.

What a beautifully written and illustrated book. Argyle Fox is an imaginative and persevering character. Despite unsuccessfully playing in the wind, Argyle is encouraged by his mom to keep thinking of a way to play in the wind. His decision is a great one.

A great book to promote growth mindset among children.

This would be a fun read in younger grade classrooms. It explains the idea of trying again and thinking outside the box. Argyle wanted to play outside, but with the wind, none of his games were working. He went inside and said that he never wanted to play in the wind again, but his mom had him think about what activities would be great in the wind. He kept thinking and finally found the perfect game to play.
This book could be read at any point during the school year to show students how playing sometimes might not be what they want it to be, but thinking creatively and trying different things can make playtime more fun.
The writing and illustrations match and are appropriate for any reading level.

I loved this story and all the artwork! Who isn’t ready to go outside to play in the springtime? I know I am! But for Argyle in this adorable story, the weather is creating a bit of a problem. He just needs to find the right activity to fit the weather! A great storytime picture book!

A beautiful book about the small or the greater difficulties of life. The little fox cub is showing determination to have a good time even if the conditions do not seem ideal. A mother who encourages him to work even further on his imagination. Somewhat tiring for the age group to which it is addressed, as it is often repeatitive. However, I would strongly recommend it, especially for the end that exudes the sense of friendship.

There were parts of this that I liked, but overall, I found it a little long.

It started out with confusion on the first page, with a declaration of identity, introducing the character of Argyle. The problem was, there were two foxes in the illustration, and I wasn't sure which was which. (It's the little one, but that was not clear on that first page.)

The real problem, though, came about as Argyle tried to find activities to do outside. He kept getting thwarted by the wind, so he'd try something else. I thought there were a few too many of these attempts, and I began to wonder if they were ever going to end!

The illustrations are probably my favourite part of the book. Unfortunately, without a strong story to go with them, they're not that memorable.

I thought I'd like this one more than I did. Argyle is cute, and he has good problem-solving skills... but I found the book just a bit too long and repetitive.

Argyle the Fox lives in a windy place and finds it hard to play outside. One after the other, his friend advice him not to play games, to which Argyle answer more or less politely. His mom advises him to think more creatively to find a game suited to a windy day. I was excited to learn what he would come up with, as I thought it would have some relation with the cover illustration. Instead, I found the ending flat and too common, but it has a nice feeling of friendship and shared activity.

This is a lovely, positive story about persistence. The illustrations are darling, and Argyle is an adorable character. I think that young readers will enjoy this story as much as I did!
