As someone who’s been fond of Poe’s writing for many years, it is such an interesting thing to see them taken into a different light. Graphic Novel, Manga or any other version is to some degree also interpretation. Interpretation of the artist in a sense. And I think it’s been done in a very good way. Poe’s writing and the art both seem to work well together and it was a delight to read them. Thanks to the publishing team and Netgalley for making it possible for me to read this as an ARC.

I enjoyed this! The art, as always, is so well done in the Manga Classics! It’s a different and nice way to read the classic stories.

This is an average adaptation of some of Poe's most famous short stories. It's not very creative, it mostly adapts them word by word. Lots of text here - not that it's a bad thing, but when it comes to comic books and manga, I'd rather things are shown than told. It might be interesting for people who have read Poe's books and want to experience another take on them (albeit not a very different one) and for those looking for an introduction to his work. Just don't expect anything out of ordinary here.

I know that I'm probably going to sound like a broken record, and as much as I dislike doing so, the art in the Manga Classics is just SO INCREDIBLY GOOD that I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it each time. Yes, it is THAT good, and the only thing more impressive than how good it is is how consistently good it is in each MC that I've read so far.

I've read some of the original texts of this adaptation but not all of it, which made it an interesting litmus test. MC's entire premise is a difficult one, but I think Edgar Allan Poe might be one of the most difficult undertakings because so much of his work plays on the imagination, the inventions of the mind that each person does differently. With graphical cues, it's much more difficult to totally project those images yourself, and instead you're relying on someone else's interpretation, which may or may not convey the same effect. Nonetheless, I think this adaptation did a good job. If nothing else, it would whet the appetite for more.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I love both Edgar Allan Poe and Manga. So I was excited when I found out about them being put together. I loved all of his stores that were picked. The Tell Tale Heart and The Mask of the Red Death are my two favorites of his so it was great to see them reimaged in manga form.

There is something deliciously macabre about seeing Edgar Allen Poe's tales come to life in manga form. I think the manga's breathe new life into the classics and make them more accessible for people to read. I might just have to add this Manga to my collection.

For readers who want a nice introduction to Edgar Allan Poe and his works!
The illustrations are great and the stories are re-written in a nice way without losing any of the original meaning of the author.
Loved it!

It`s sad, I could not read the book because graphical designs do not work with the ebook reader. But I am sure that the book is good, I do love classics and I read manga sometimes. I'm sure that people who don't usually read novels have a good chance to appreciate classics in another way. Love to see it in the bookshelves.

Lately I've been interested in graphic novels, so when I saw this book, I was very intrigued and I'm really glad I had the chance to read it. It is an easy read as there are several short stories in the book, and of course it's Edgar Allan Poe, so you know they're good. I absolutely loved the illustrations and the style really fits the dark vibes of the stories. I really like how this book makes these stories accessible to more people that might not have read them in their original form before. All in all a great book that I would recommend to everyone. Thanks to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for providing me with a copy.

I am a huge Poe fan and this was an interesting version. Love the illustrations and concepts. Will definitely be reading other Manga classics and recommending to others.

I love Edgar Allan Poe. I like that his stories were turned into manga. It was hard finding page breaks and it scrolling to the end of the book since manga is read differently.

As a Poe fan I knew that I absolutely needed to read this when I saw it on Netgalley. I was lucky enough to get approved for a copy to review. I’ve read o e other Manga Classic before and that was the Romeo and Juliet one which I really enjoyed so I had high hopes going into this one. I felt like the artwork was amazing and it went really well with the stories being told. I’m hoping to pick up a few more Manga Classics in the future since the two that I have read so far have been wonderful.

My thoughts…
Jazz Hands 👐🏼 I’m a huge fan of Manga Classics now! And the above classics were familiar to me but yet, reading them in this format gave me new thoughts and feelings. The illustrations were incredible that brought characters I’ve met before even more alive. If you’re not use to manga comics, reading back to front, will need getting used tobut it’s not a big deal. If you’ve been meaning to read classics, these are great introductions to them. I want to start collecting them now!

I am not entirely new to Edgar Allan Poe and I must say this graphic novel surprised me a lot. It's enjoyable and interesting and offers a lot to readers. The drawings are easy in the eyes and most of all, the story is well thought of.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a really cool book that brings a classic author's work into modern manga. I enjoyed this greatly and if you like Edgar Allan Paul I think this is a wonderful book to read and collect

Okay this was pretty cool! The graphics are awesome and it's super cool to read about familiar stories of a classic author I love, but in a graphic version. I hope this series gets more popular because it's a very fun concept!

As soon as I started reading this manga adaptation of some of Poe's works, I realized that this would likely not be the one for me. Even though I appreciated Poe when I had to read his works in school, they creeped me out even then. When adapted to manga? That ups the creep factor for sure. I don't typically read horror so this is as close as I will get.

Having only read "The Raven" so far, this was an interesting introduction to the catalog of Edgar Allen Pes' work.

The book is divided into five short stories, each drawn by a different artist, which made them very easy to distinguish and provided insight into different approaches to interpretation and illustration styles.

The manga is read back to front and right to left in typical manga fashion, which took a few pages to get used to, but was absolutely no hindrance to the enjoyment of reading these classic and twisted tales. All in all, the sinister atmosphere translated well into this format.

this didn't work as a sufficient transposition of Poe's stories which I know well as text alone - too histrionic and melodramatic - the pictures highlight the horror undercurrent but in ill-fitting ways. it could just be me - I'm not impressed ...

OK this one was amazing, fans of horror manga stories will love this one, you get several short stories, and the stories are explain just right, the drawing is not that childish, but much more mature and kind of maddening, yes I loved this one.

Highly recommend this one for fans of Junji Ito stories, its easily a 5 stars read, and besides the great drawings is a fantastical way to introduce Edgar Allan Poe to people that don’t know him.

Thank you NetGalley for the free ARC, and this is honest opinion.
