A manipulative psychopath you loathe and a woman who is already boxed in by her past life, now finds it trapping her firmly in her present.

Vividly dark and disturbing but amazingly addictive.

Gripping and suspenseful! A very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters. The tension builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. Will keep you swiping the pages furiously. Worthy of your TBR list.

My Review:
Loved!!!!! It started off with a bang and ended with a bang. At the very beginning you didn’t know what was going on. By the end you were like wow now I totally get what’s happening. I loved that the whole book was a mystery waiting to be uncovered. There were so many twists and turns in this one. This has to be one of my favorite reads by this author so far. I’m definitely no stranger to this author and this book proved why I love her books so much. The characters all are shady and have something to hide. The plot kept you entertained and wanting more. Oh and don’t get me started on that ending. It left me shocked and speechless. This book will stay with me for a long time. It was just that good. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fabulous story! I really enjoyed it. Ella is a strong character and I was rooting for her throughout - There were a couple of times where I wondered why Ella hadn't told her neighbour Liz what was happening. I was not quite expecting the ending - I enjoyed all of the authors books

OMG... goosebumps! I read this book so fast. I love a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the end! Samantha Hayes continues to write books that showcase her talent for writing a twisty plot.

That's how you do a thriller! I was pleasantly surprised by how good this was. Wow, what a twist. Absolutely didn't see that coming.

I did not enjoy The Liars wife. Although it started off strongly I had trouble engaging with the twisted story of Ella and Jacob. It was predictable and dull. I would prefer not to leave a negative review on my blog.

Really enjoyed this one! One night in particular I only meant to read for 20 minutes but just couldn't stop as the story got more and more intense. I also didn't predict the final twist at the end which kept me thinking about it after i finished.

I thought "The Liar's Wife" by Samantha Hayes was a well written psychological thriller that had alot of interesting plot twists that kept me interested and wanting to keep reading the book until the very end.
I found the ending to be such an unexpected surprise.
This is the 1st book that I have read by Samantha Hayes and I am very excited to read her next book, "Single Mother".

I have been craving slow burning psychological thrillers lately. It must be something about the season changing, and it getting dark earlier that makes me want to get comfy and get a little terrified with what might be out in the dark. This book HIT THE MARK for me on what I was looking for - suspenseful, dark, twisting, clever, compulsively readable.

I was sucked in from the very start of this - what could possibly be creepier than waking up in the hospital to find yourself injured, trapped and suddenly being told you have a husband that you most certainly DO NOT HAVE. With the story moving back and forth between present day, and 10 years prior, it is like watching a car accident unfold in front of you; something bad is going to happen but you have no way to warn the person or stop it from happening. Stories that are able to successfully pull off this feeling for me are like chunks of gold. So. Satisfying.

I loved the complexity of Ella as a character, the idea that you know SOMETHING happened that involved her 10 years prior, although you are not clear what that was. And that incident shaped her into the solitary loner she is in present day, never letting anyone know the “real her”. Until now. Until she’s involved in a hit and run that has landed her in a brand new kind of nightmare as her past catches up with her.

This is the exact kind of story you don’t want to ruin for other readers, because the twists and turns are best served without warning, so I won’t share more. I will say that I loved where the story twisted to, I loved how surprised I was as things kept unfolding and I loved how Samantha does not let up, even once, in the pace of the story. I was on edge every page through the end.

I will say that this is the exact kind of cleverly written thriller that makes for perfect reading on long, dark winter nights. I will also say that if you, like me, are a massive fan of thrillers that keep you guessing, than this is one you want to get on that to-read pile ASAP. It will not disappoint!

I had to really push myself to finishing this one because I had trouble getting into the story, nothing against the book I think it was just trying to read this at a difficult time

CW: rape, abusive relationship

This book does all of the things that I like in a thriller: split timelines, an unreliable narrator, tense moments of oh no is this how it ends and at least one plot twist that I didn't see coming.

Our villain is one for the books and we can't help but wish for his demise as we follow Ella through physical recovery in the midst of mental warfare. Ella sees herself as morally grey as the antagonist and so she feels stuck in an impossible situation, but every time she brings up her moments of guilt you're left wondering...how much of this story is the real story.

The ending was shocking and horrifying and satisfying in crying levels. If you're able to make it through the admittedly dark scenes, the payoff for this one is worth the read.

This book was not at all what I expected. There are instances of kidnapping, rape and incest. I felt like the book started out very slowly. There was a good twist but I’m still torn about how I feel about the book.

The last 10 years of Ella's life, she's had little communication with anyone. She doesn't socialize with co-workers because she doesn't want to reveal details about herself & about what happened a decade ago.

Her life changed, the night Ella bicycled home from work & was hit by a van. She goes down & blacks out. When she comes to, she's in the hospital. They tell her she's had an accident & she's been in a medically induced coma for days, because she wasn't wearing a helmet & has swelling of the brain. Also, her leg & wrist are fractured. They had to operate & put a metal pin in her knee. The nurse tells her that her husband has been visiting her, reading her poetry & bringing her gifts. But, Ella isn't married.

She made the local news. The driver of the van didn't stop. It was a hit & run. The police were appealing for witnesses. They released her name & picture hoping the driver would come forward. The man, who calls himself Jacob & is claiming to be her husband, heard about her accident on the news.

After a lengthy hospital stay, she's discharged. But, she's wheelchair-bound & her cell phone is useless. Ella finds herself in a terrifying situation where she has little choice but to go along with everything he says until she figures out what to do.

Ella keeps to herself. Goes to work and comes home. You know she’s damaged but not sure why. One night while riding her bike home from work she gets hit by a van and ends up in the hospital. Her “husband” comes by the hospital and picks her up. The husband she doesn’t have. A crazy, wild ride of a novel. I loved it!
