Seriously blown away. This series has me hanging onto every single word. I can’t get enough. I want to know everything but I don’t want it to end.

Being heartless means the place where there should be a beat is missing its instrument. Lady Zera is immortal and as special as a heartless can be. She belongs a witch and has one task in mind. Finding peace isn’t possible with the hunger inside her. Having her heart should mean everything but what of the friends she’s made. The ones who call her a traitor. Lady Zera has a new mission and yet her goal remains the same. Bringing her heart back into her chest will cost her the ultimate consequence.

To feel whole again will mean to understand her Darkside. The bone tree holds all the magic but the end is not quite in sight.

I’m hanging on to every cruel minute in the wait for the next instalment. This book is fantasy at its best. The heart is only as good as the owner's soul. Choose wisely.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. It’s excellent. This series needs to be read in order and from the beginning. 5+ out of this world stars.

This was a title I was super excited for, and it did definitely not disappoint!
I do recommend reading the first book in the series first, though. This is the main reason why I gave it four stars, but might I have read the first book, the second book could have easily been a 5-star review. Now, it was somewhat harder to get into the story.
I will definitely be doing that in the future, as this is a series I really loved.
The thing I loved most was probably the characters, and their development. I could really connect to them.

3.5 out of 5 Stars - rolled up to 4 stars

***ARC received from Entangled: Teens Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for honest review, opinions are all my own. Thank you!***

I really enjoyed the first book, I liked the world that Sara Wolf had built the concept of the heartness and the witches. And while this book builds further on this it suffers from being the middle book in a trilogy. Ah middle book syndrome, even some of my favorite trilogies fall flat in the second book. Its still good, it just can't reveal too much too quickly which causes for a book that drags at times.

Because of the rift between Zera, Lucien, Fiore and Malachite their interactions together are now tense the betrayal running deep after the revelations that Zera is Heartless. The relationship of an easy growing friendship/romance is now broken and Zera in a way to protect herself and the rest has to continiously push them away. It is sad seeing Zera continue to suffer as she seems to desperately want to go back to how it was, even if the reality is that's just not possible. We now have Varia as a new character and I really loved her. She's strong, wants to save everyone but is more than willing to be manipulative and underhanded to get what she wants. There is a single goal in her mind and while she loves her brother and Fiore, its refreshing to see someone not waver from their original goal even knowing that it will cost her everything.

Most of this book is Zera dealing with the valkerax and those were my favorite parts. While the two are so vastly different, the find connections together. The pain of not being free, controlled and manipulated completely against one will to the point of madness. I felt sorry for the valkerax, who just like Zera wants their freedom. It was in these moments that the book shined so strongly. What I really loved was that ending! Much like the previous book the author knows how to build up an amazing ending. A slow burn conflict between the characters that finally came to a head that made me realize I have to wait until the next book!

I think my biggest disappointment in this book came from much of Zera's dialogue, it felt so out of place with the rest of the dialogue. It's not that she's cruel in a way to keep people away, I completely understand that. It was the quips that felt like too much for me, like the book was trying to be more clever than it needed to be. A few times scattered here and there would fine, it felt like it fit in certain situations but was just too much in the end for me. I'm hoping with the way book ended we won't see much of it in the next book.

Bring Me Their Hearts, the first book in Sara Wolf’s enchanting Heartless trilogy, blew me away last year and became one of my all-time favorite books. And when I thought this series could not get any better, Find Me Their Bones lands in my lap and left me speechless. This book is emotionally beautiful and painful and raw. In Find Me Their Bones, relationships are tested, boundaries are crossed, and secrets are revealed. And not everyone will be prepared for the surprising twist.

Sara Wolf does it again. Find Me Their Bones is an excellent masterpiece, a sequel that stands beautifully next to its predecessor, in covers and written word. This brilliant book is full of sass and heart; I can see that Sara poured her heart into this book and that’s one of the things that makes this book so special. She has created a world and characters that I absolutely adore, and I am so thankful these books came into my life when they did.

Find Me Their Bones picks up right where Bring Me Their Hearts left off. Zera is still a Heartless, but now Lucien, his sister (who was thought to be dead), and the King know her secret. And now Zera is no longer under the control of her first witch, the witch that took her heart. She now belongs to Princess Varia, who surprised everyone by turning out to be a powerful witch that tricked Zera and Lucien.

“I’ve learned, Your Highness, that it is easier to hate than it is to love.”

Zera has so much character growth in Find Me Their Bones. She’s still sarcastic and sassy and amazing, but she starts to let herself hope that she will get her heart back and starts to imagine what her life will be like. She knows she’s messed up all her relationships with her friends and Lucien, but her main goal has always been her heart. So, she strikes a deal with Princess Varia: train a valkerax to Weep in exchange for her heart. It’s almost an impossible deal, but Zera accepts.

But along this journey, Zera discovers that there is more at stake than ever before. Princess Varia doesn’t just need the valkerax to Weep; she has a more dark and twisted plan that will change the lives of everyone in the kingdom. It will ultimately change the potentially outcome of a battle between the humans and witches. And Lucien is dead set on making sure his sister does nothing that will harm her and the people he has vowed to protect.

“‘I can assure you, as someone who spent his life chasing power,’ Gavik says, ‘when absolute power presents itself, there are no ‘justs’ anymoe. It is all or nothing.'”

Zera continues to be my ultimate favorite character. She doesn’t remember much from being human, but her emotions start to materialize more in this book. She finally has something worth dying for; she finally has friends and family she wants to protect at all costs, even if it means not getting her heart in return. In the sequel, more of Zera’s strengths (and weaknesses) are revealed. It’s clear as day that she wants to keep her friends and Lucien in her life, but she believes they’re better off without her. She doesn’t quite understand why these people would want to still befriend her, after everything she does. And that was beautiful to watch unfold, to see Zera realize that she’s not alone in this cruel world.

Wolf’s writing is masterful and captivating. Her world building is phenomenal and the characters she has created are magnificent. Sara is an instant-buy author for me because her writing isn’t just there to show the readers what is going on; she writes with emotion so the readers can understand what the characters are feeling in that moment. That’s another reason why this book is so close to my heart (I also find a kindred spirit in Zera, so that’s a plus).

“Heartless with their heart is a human who’s been injured and has injured in return. And though the wounds have been healed magically, the memories still remain, stabbing and slicing better than the instruments of pain.”

THAT ENDING. Sara definitely knows how to leave her readers hanging, and now I don’t know how I can wait until next year. This book tore me open and left me in need of a beating heart. These characters, especially Zera, mean so much to me, and I’m even more emotionally attached to them and their story than I was in the first book.

Bring Me Their Hearts is a series I will forever recommend. This series is filled with so many emotions and sassy banter and romantic moments. If you’re looking for a fun fantasy read, I implore you to read this series, you won’t be disappointed!

Sara Wolf wrote in her acknowledgements: “When I was thirteen, I realized my life dream was to write a fantasy trilogy—something grand and sweeping and unforgettable.” Wolf accomplished this with her first book, Bring Me Their Hearts, and continued to bring this dream to life in this next installment in this series, Find Me Their Bones.

Find Me Their Bones is not only a beautiful love story, but is a fun, dark, hilarious read that will have readers laughing one sentence and crying with the next. Zera is a character that demands your attention and affection from page one. She is written so truly that one can almost touch her on the page. I also must mention that Prince Lucien is currently in the position of my “Book Boyfriend”, and will not be available for the taking for any other readers who I know will undoubtedly fall in love with him... Also, add Malachite to the “taken” list as well (clears throat awkwardly). Yes, well, now that that’s taken care of, back to the reviewing.

Wolf treats each character in this novel as equally important as the next, whether it be a main or a side character, I find that I care about their fates in the same way. She even characterizes the monstrous valkerax in this book in such a way that I fell in love with the moody beast, even if he did take a few chunks here and there from my precious Heartless. I even checked to see if they sold them at pet stores ear me (unfortunately they were fresh out of hairy-dragons). The relationship between the valerax and Zera was very much like Manon and Abraxos’ relationship…but dare I say better? Yes, I do.

I truly hope you pick up this gem of a book. With Zera as your hilarious guide into this vivid and lustrously painted world, I promise you won’t regret it.

This second volume resumes just at the end of the first one, Zera saved Lucien but as a result he discovered her true nature. We also discover that Lucien's sister Varia is not dead and that she knows how to use her magical powers. Zera is now a prisoner of Varia and she must do whatever she asks her to do. Her relationship with Lucien has deteriorated significantly.
Zera is always funny, I find her endearing even if she has sometimes irritated me, I understand that she doesn't trust anyone but when her friends try to come back to her, she doesn't have to push them away.
Lucien is more distant with Zera and he tries to understand what Varia forces her to do but nothing is simple and he too has his little secret.
Varia doesn't have much interest for me, she's a villain who, like all the big villains, thinks she'll save the world, but unfortunately the collateral damage will be there.
Yorl is a new character who is also very friendly. I hope we'll see him again in the next volume.
I really liked the story, it is interesting and captivating, the main characters are endearing and I liked to see Lucien's reaction to Zera. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book and seeing how Zera, Lucien and all the others will manage.

Just like in the first book, I enjoyed this author’s writing style. It flowed well, characters were well developed, and world building was on point.

This book felt very much like a transition book. It felt like it was suffering from middle book syndrome. The excitement of the first book, of discovering the world, characters, and the story were subdued, and this book read more like the hard work between the exciting beginning and the (hopefully) lovely ending.

It’s not to say it wasn’t a good book. All the elements of the first story are present. There has to be a middle to any story, where the characters have to walk the miles to reach their destination. If you enjoyed the first book and intend to finish the series, then this book is a must. I would imagine the final book in the trilogy will be very hard to follow if you don’t.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read, and a vital part of the series.

I love this book! The first book in the series was exceptional and this book was just as amazing!! So full of action and excitement! I loved this world that the author created!! One of the best fantasy series out there!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

picking up where bring me their hearts leaves off, find me their bones doesn't spend much time rehashing the first book in the series. this is both good and bad. good if you are binge-reading. bad if you haven't picked up the first book since its original release, it's bad because remembering everything that happened in the book before is not the easiest.

this installment is more about sera coming into herself than the romance, no matter what the blurb says. it's definitely the middle book in a series too, and while there is a whole story here, it's also still clearly the middle of the story.

this world and adventure is rich and engrossing and sera is a heroine to root for.

**find me their bones will publish on november 5, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (entangled teen) in exchange for my honest review.

This book is the second in a series. Even though I did not read the first one Sara Wolf does an amazing job with all of the little details and hints that would allow a person to infer what went on before. Relatable charachters with realistic relationships and thorough built fantasy world that had me saying just one more chapter.

I freaking adored Bring Me Their Hearts when it came out last year, and I could not wait for the sequel! Happy to report, it didn’t disappoint! I’ll be keeping this short to minimize the chance for spoiling anything, but if you enjoyed the first book, I think you’ll find this one to your liking too.

Zera is once again stuck between regaining her own heart, and keeping her newfound friends safe. Zera is not the monster she thinks herself to be, which is really what is at the core of this book. But what will it take for Zera to realize it? Can she? These are the questions. We learn a lot more in this book about the world around Zera, which I enjoyed a lot. We also get a lot more insight into what makes the characters tick.

Does it feel like a middle book? A bit, yes, but I don’t think that’s always a bad thing? It didn’t feel sloggy or anything, and Zera was funny as ever! And her relationship (or lack thereof?) with Lucien is as gut-wrenching as ever. I loved that Zera’s friendship bonds were tested, and now she’s figuring out who is truly there for her- and who she is willing to sacrifice for.

I will say, there’s a bit with a valkerax that went a bit over my head, but that might just be a “me” issue. Overall, the stakes are higher than ever, and more brutal than ever, and it’s set up the third book phenomenally!

Bottom Line: Definitely a solid sequel, bringing back all the characters I adored so much with a lot of added world-building information. Cannot wait for the next installment!

If you are a reader of fantasy, I have the perfect series for you

Bring Me Their Hearts which is the first novel in this series.

Find Me Their Bones, is the next phenomenal installment to Zera’s quest to get her heart back.

Find Me Their Bones by Sara Wolf is the second book in the young adult romantic fantasy Bring Me Their Hearts series. This series is definitely one that a reader should start from the beginning and read in order as the story now in the second book has picked up right after the cliffhanger ending of the first and wouldn’t be understood out of order.

Nineteen year old Zera, is a Heartless. an unkillable human puppet in thrall to a witch. Given a task to take Prince Lucien of Cavanos’ heart, but instead, she fell in love with him; saving him, yes, but only after deceiving and betraying him. She has failed in her mission. Awaiting impending death when her witch severs the connection between them. She Instead finds herself beholden to a new mistress.....Lucien’s sister, Princess Varia

Wolf’s world-building was more developed and the descriptive magic was definitely noticeable, The strategic development of the complexity of the plot line was superb. Wolf’s progression from first installment to Find Me Their Bones, is smooth and effortless. Even though this storyline had little to do with what was introduced to us in the fist book. The author tone and everything that was going on in this one. There were some new creatures, as well as more information about certain characters’ backstories that I found super interesting and added something new to the plot, and there was a much more complex plot as well.

“We can’t remember who we were. We’re always hurting. Always hungry. That isn0t home. This… This isn’t a home. It’s a prison.”
Definitely a solid sequel, bringing back all the characters I adored so much with a lot of added world-building information. Cannot wait for the next installment There was so much tension and secrets in this second installment of the series and it got my blood pumping and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Zera’s a strong sassy protagonist, that I adore, her engaging sarcastic sense of humor was enticing and added to this wonderful Ya Fantasy.
This captivating book is one I definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy at its best.
The books explosive ending will leave you shocked and have wanting more.

I loved Bring Me Their Hearts, so I was so excited when Entangled sent me the promo box for Bring Me Their Bones. Out of all the promo boxes I have received so far this by far has been my favorite! I am obsessed with the custom book mark and the enamel pin of Zera with her sword 😍

I am going to start my review with confessing my undying love for Lucien and how I just want him and Zera to have their happily ever after already.*Sobs* After the cliff hanger in Bring Me Their Hearts I was jumping at the chance to read this book. I had so many unanswered questions from Bring Me Their Hearts that I couldn't wait to have answered. Bring Me their Bones answered these questions but left me with so much more! My. Heart. Hurts.

Zera is one of my favorite literary characters. She is sassy, a smart ass and though she tries to be this big bad wolf I find her to be a marshmallow. Her wit and humor constantly had me laughing out loud, as well as her inability to keep a straight face during serious moments. I really enjoyed getting to see her growth as a character from book one to where she is now and she is still growing. I am super excited to see where Wolf is going to take her in the next novel.

Overall I did really enjoy Bring Me Their Bones and I can't wait for more of this world and these characters. My mind is reeling with the possibilities of the things that could happen next and quite honestly, I just want to smash Zera and Lucien's face together. Just. Let. Them. Kiss.

I hate to say it but this second story very much felt like a middle book. I liked that Zera was trying to find herself and didn’t always trust easily, but this was a long book and the back and forth with her an Lucien was driving me crazy. The scenes that were between them were lacking something. And honestly, Lucien just kind of felt like a filler this time and I was so disappointed by that. I just didn’t connect with Varia’s character either but I really liked the addition of Yorl! I found him incredibly interesting!
Another thing that dragged this book for me? Varia. I did not care about her at all. She bores me and her manipulations of Zera had me hating her. Yorl was the only part of Varia's plan I liked because his interactions with Zera were amusing and brought out my favorite parts of our heroine's humor.
In terms of overall world building and action, the book did pretty well. But it's most of the in-between that did not really do it for me. I'll probably still give the third book a shot since this one sort of ends abruptly and I'm curious how it will all wrap up.

This sequel to Bring me Their Hearts starts up right where the first book ended. We have more characters being introduced and more of a story furthering the plot and it’s causing Zera to work even harder for her heart. I did enjoy most of what was going on and we had some revelations that had my jaw dropping to the floor. There were some moments I felt bored but overall I did really enjoy this sequel and am excited for the next book.

That ending, wtf...

Let me start off by saying, I’m annoyed with myself for not properly reviewing the first book because apparently I loved it? Whereas this one kind of annoyed me a lot of the time.

Writing-wise, this was fine. But plot-wise? Meh.

This book seriously suffered from middle book syndrome. It just felt filler. I still like Zera, but while I understood why she felt the need to be mistrustful and depend on herself everything started feeling repetitive after a while. She constantly had the same internal argument about trusting Lucien and her friends. We kept getting reminded that she really only knew them for all of two weeks which, as she constantly points out, is not enough to really know anyone. And you what? That's honest to god true. Which makes some of the later reveals feel unearned.

Lucien and Zera scenes were somewhat few and even when did get some they just off somehow. Zera pretending to feel nothing for Lucien due to her own misguided notion that he could do better was annoying but understandable. What did not make sense was why Lucien behaved as though he was icing her out only for it to be revealed he was fighting for her all along. Like, why would he not make that clear to her? It would have saved so much time.

3.5 stars.

I read the first book in this series, Bring Me Their Hearts, last year and I was excited to see the second book pop up on NetGalley to request. This series isn't the next big thing in YA, but I do enjoy the books and can't seem to put them down.

Find Me Their Bones starts off right where the first book ended, so I would recommend a reread if you don't remember much of the first book. I don't want to say anything about the cliffhanger ending in case someone hasn't read it yet, but that's where the second book continues. There are some new plots and characters thrown in, including trying to tame a valkerax, and the book ends much the same way the first one did; with an ending that will make you wish the third book was out already.

I really like the idea of the series because it's something I haven't come across before. What I don't tend to like are the characters. I feel like the side characters are not developed enough and sometimes the main characters fall flat for me. Overall, I would recommend this series to someone who enjoys light fantasy romance.

This sequel was everything I needed and lived up to its successor and then some. Zera's character adapts and grows and I adored her in the first book but I am completely obsessed with her now. While I saw a lot of the plot points coming the writing and the events leading up to them often surprised me. I am already so ready for the third book and will be waiting on the edge of my seat to be able to read it.

Last year I absolutely adored Sara Wolf’s Bring Me Their Hearts, so it should come as no surprise that its sequel Find Me Their Bones became one of my most anticipated YA releases in 2019. While the story lacked some of the intrigue and drive that made the first book so fun, as well growing a little too twisty to the point of convolution, I still enjoyed myself a lot and was not disappointed.

Continuing immediately after the events at the end of Bring Me Their Hearts, we return to the world of Cavanos in Find Me Their Bones with Zera, our protagonist who has tried for three long years to win back her heart. It also picks up from a quite a hefty cliffhanger, so be aware this review may contain spoilers for the first book if you’re not caught up. In short, we begin with the story with two huge bombshells: One, Zera has revealed her identity as a heartless, a thrall tasked by her witch Nightsinger to infiltrate the royal court and steal the heart of Prince Lucien d’Malvane—as in literally cutting it from his chest; and two, Lucien’s older sister, the princess Varia whom everyone thought was dead, is actually still alive. What’s more, Varia herself is a powerful witch, who manages to wrest control of Zera from Nightsinger.

Determined to forge a truce between humans and witches, Varia has a plan which involves a powerful totem known as the Bone Tree, and the job has fallen to Zera to seek it out. To do so, our heartless protagonist will have to first gain knowledge of the tree’s location from creature known as a valkerax. Bloodthirsty and half-mad, this monster lives in the labyrinthine tunnels beneath and city and is not generally known for its willingness to cooperate, but choice does Zera have? Her own heart is on the line, along with the last chance she has to become human again. But that also leaves the problem of Lucien, for whom Zera has developed feelings, despite her efforts to keep a distance. And it appears that he may have fallen for her too, even in light of her betrayal.

If you enjoyed Bring Me Their Hearts, chances are you’ll have a good time with this sequel too. I’m happy to report that Wolf succeeds in carrying through the same tone plus many of the familiar themes from the first book. Zera is as feisty and full of snark as ever, and I continue to love her take-no-crap personality and snappy comebacks. And still, her character also evolves as more conflicts are added to her already overburdened psyche, now that true romantic feelings for Lucien has been thrown into the mix. Surprisingly though, there was less focus on their relationship than I expected, but for which I was grateful because it gave the story a chance to explore the more complex—and, quite honestly, more interesting—dynamics between Zera and Varia. While the revelations about the latter were shocking at the end of the first book, it was refreshing to see that the character had more of a purpose and a significant role to play in this one.

Which goes to show, the author had everything planned out. But while the story itself was solid, some of its plot points were a bit sensationalistic, tossing out twists for their own sake. I was slightly exasperated at the ending, for example, which served up another killer cliffhanger, and at some point, this pattern just becomes tiresome. We also lose some of that delicious tension from the first book which resulted from Zera’s internal discordance and guilt at manipulating Lucien. Now that the secret is out in the open, their interactions just didn’t have the same kind of magic, and it just felt like they were going in circles at times. To be fair though, Zera’s quest in this book was very different than the one she had in Bring Me Their Hearts, and the nature of Varia’s task presents unique challenges, bringing its own pros and cons.

All in all, I look forward to seeing where Zera’s story will go from here. The poor girl is dealing with so many conflicts pulling her in all different directions, you just have to wonder how much more she can take! It will also be interesting to see how Sara Wolf will handle the character, now that the stage is set for even higher stakes. As more is also revealed about the world and the mythology behind the war between human and witches, I think the next book will see more threads come together and the result will no doubt be epic. I can’t wait.
