What a gorgeous story about belonging and coming of age, made super accessible (and adorable) by this manga adaptation. And if its claim of being the only manga adaptation approved by a descendant of L.M. Montgomery is true, that's really quite cool.

Not really a fan of this sadly. I am a big Anne of Green Gables fan and thought I would give manga a try through one of my favourite stories. I don't like how they portrayed Matthew and just the way the story was being told wasn't it for me. Gave it a good try but just not my vibe

I always love reading reimagined stories, this was amazing. I love a manga that has vibrant art as well as a great story and this did not disappoint. The design was very eye catching and the cover really sold it for me. I hope many people grabbed this beauty!

Honestly, I thought this was a really cute book. I have loved all of Lucy Maude Montgomery’s books, and read all of her and series, along with Rilla of Ingleside. Although my absolute favorite Anne retelling is the original PBS series from the 1990s, I appreciate the among us style because of how accessible it is for students who don’t think they like to read. If somebody says they don’t like to read, it’s just because they haven’t found the type of stories they like yet. Or they’re being forced into it. This is pure brain candy of the best type, and I would love to see a big, thick manga series of the entire Anne universe.

Kudos to Manga Classics for making these stories accessible to reluctant readers… And to those of us who just love the anime style.

Fabulous resource for students who need to read classics but have accommodations or trouble following or connecting to the texts. I would use this as a side by side with the original. It was so fun to read, Anne if Green Gables is a favorite of mine, and manga one of my favorite mediums- so seeing them combined was particularly joyous. Missing a few of my favorite parts, Gilbert loving Anne was revealed a bit too easily but overall this classic lends itself to archetypes in the shoujo manga style and works incredibly well. We love our carrots!!!

Thanks to Netgalley for this book.

I have read Anne of Green Gables and its sequels many times. When I found the Manga Classics on Netgalley, I was excited to check it out. It was a lovely edition and felt true to the original. My only complaint is that the material from the second half of the book seemed to be skimmed over in comparison to the depth of coverage of the first half.

This is my second Manga Classic reading experience and I will read more, I am sure!

I have always been a big Anne fan. I love her imagination. I want to move to Prince Edward Island. It sounds so charming. I am so happy Manga Classics adapted this so it’s more accessible to all readers. I thought they did a great job and the illustrations were fantastic.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

About: Marilla and Matthew wanted to adopt a boy to help them. But instead, when they went to the station they found a girl, Anne. Marilla refused to accept her After all what would a girl help them with? They meant to send her back but were charmed by the brave, optimistic, imaginative and talkative girl. Anne saw the beauty of the world around her. She was always happy and thankful for one thing or the other.
Why should you read it?
* Like Matthew and Marilla Anne charmed my heart too with her cheeriness, optimism, honesty and imagination.
* I have always been intimidated by classics because of their complex language and therefore I never tried to read them but reading this manga has made me want to read the actual book. The art was so beautiful. Anne's expressions and outbursts made me smile through the book.
*It is comforting to read about her childhood. It is so wonderful how children 's minds work Everything was so simple that I felt calm.
*I adored Anne's friendship with Diana and how Anne always owned up to whatever she did.
My review: a new comfort read for me. I will definitely read this classic series.

I have recently been enjoying several books from The Manga Classics series and found them to be fantastic adaptations of the original works. Anne of Green Gables is one of those classics that I somehow never read. With hundreds of books to enjoy, it hadn’t made it to the top of my list. I didn’t realize what I was missing. Anne is an enchanting character. The energetic orphan is boisterous, imaginative, independent, intelligent, has a temper as firey as her red hair and she never stops talking. From her very first sentence, I was enchanted with this character. Crystal S. Chang has done a fantastic job adapting this novel to the manga format. Artist Kuma Chan has created the world of Green Gables and the surrounding town with detail and charm. The characters are portrayed with great warmth. In the book Anne is described as skinny and homely, but that opinion is based on her bright red hair and abundance of freckles. The reader can see that she is actually adorable.

Manga Classics not only makes great stories more accessible to readers, but it also fits the bill for people who want a taste of a classic without spending a lot of time. Whether these books are introducing a story to you, or you are revisiting an old favorite this manga format provides some enjoyable reads.

I love the book Anne of Green Gables. I guess a good way to get other to read this story is a manga, but a lot of the drawings were scary. It looked as though they were evil, with no eyes. I guess if you like manga, you might like this, but I personally didn’t.

Manga Classics: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery was a refreshing, fun way to revisit a classic story. It took a few pages to get used to reading right to left but once I got the hang of it I couldn't put it down!

I loved the original Anne of Green Gables and wondered how good this version would be but I was not disappointed. The magna art was wonderful, capturing the characters perfectly.
The storyline closely followed the original, which was lovely to see. Through the captions, the character's thoughts and feelings shone through and the illustrations enabled the reader to picture the characters and the landscapes perfectly.
Anne's personality shone through from beginning to end.

I would highly recommend Manga Classics: Anne of Green Gables, you will not be disappointed!

Manga Classics®: Anne of Green Gables is a delightful adaptation of L.M. Montgomery's timeless classic. As a book reviewer, I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the beloved characters and captivating world of Green Gables brought to life through the vivid and expressive manga illustrations.
The story follows the adventures of Anne Shirley, a spirited and imaginative redheaded girl, who unintentionally disrupts the plans of the Cuthbert siblings, Marilla and Matthew. The manga adaptation beautifully captures the essence of Anne's character, making her endearing and relatable to readers of all ages.
The art style is engaging, perfectly blending the charm of manga with the charm of the original tale. From the picturesque landscapes of Prince Edward Island to the charming moments at the Lake of Shining Waters and the Dryad's Bubble, every page is a visual treat.
Being the only authorized manga adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, it stays true to the essence of the novel while adding a fresh perspective that manga enthusiasts will appreciate. The inclusion of a foreword by Kate McDonald Butler, the granddaughter of L.M. Montgomery, adds a personal touch that connects readers to the author's legacy.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Siblings, Matthew and Marilla, expect a little boy but end up with a vibrant and imaginative little orphan girl, who they end up admiring and loving almost as if she were their own.

I hadn't yet read the original classic so I was unsure of what to expect. But I did enjoy these little snippets of story and their relationship which each other. I read it on the NetGalley app so unsure if the quality was reduced on there as it was a little difficult to read.

3.5 ⭐️

*I thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader copy of this book in return for an honest review*

The first thing I have to say is that when I read Anne of Green Gables I didn't particularly enjoy it. I liked it but for me personally there was nothing special. I do like manga a lot and when I saw this edition on NetGalley I was willing to give it a try. Safe to say that I'm glad I gave this story another chance. I enjoyed it a whole lot more consuming this story in a different medium. I will be checking out the other books that Manga Classics has published. The only sad thing for me was due to it being an arc, the quality wasn't great. Please note that if you buy the physical version the quality will be perfectly fine.

Storywise I can't say much because I already knew the story before going into this. It's a good adaptation and I liked the art style (I'm very picky about those so it's a big compliment).

A very cute mesh of two of my favorite things: manga and Anne of Green Gables! It put a huge smile on my face.

The pleasure of revisiting a classic, in a condensed version. Once I got used to reading right to left, this book was a delightful addition to the world of Anne! I've read a few graphic novels of classics in the past, but never one with manga art. It took a while to get used to the drawings of Anne and her friends giving off edgy Sailor Moon vibes, but for Anne of the over-dramatic presentation, the slightly Goth appearance worked. I wasn't as crazy about the depictions of adults. Possibly true to the genre but unfamiliar to me, with the exception of Marilla in most frames. The first teacher in the Avonlea schooI looked like a gigolo, but maybe that's how he was originally described. I thought the abridgement was well done, covering a good selection of the plot points. There is a lovely foreword by Kate MacDonald Butler, LMM's granddaughter, and some nice afternotes from the adapter, Crystal S. Chan, about the process and decision making involved in creating this book.  Ages 8 to 98.

I was asked to review this book by Netgalley in exchange for my honest feedback.
I thought this was very refreshing. I am a huge fan of "Anne of Green Gables" and I loved this version of that lovely story. Of course like any retold version it isn't exactly the same as the original story and I think some of it may have been inspired also by "Anne with an E" television series, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable for this longtime fan. The artwork was beautiful and really captured the naturalistic beauty that Anne Shirley loves so much. This piece was well put together and very enjoyable. Thank you for allowing me to read this. I would love to also add this to my collection.
