Like everyone else, I watched 365 Days on Netflix and was intrigued when I discovered it was based on a book. Unfortunately the series was not originally written in English so I have been waiting for this book to come out! Like many movies the book is usually better and this was not an exception! I liked Laura a lot more in the book reading her inner monologue and feelings. Massimo also seemed more gentle and more loving than the aggression and dominance showed in the film. Both these characters were a lot more favorable and seeing more complex emotions enhanced the story. The ending is a cliff hanger and which leaves me anticipating both the movie and book sequels. Hopefully the second book will be translated before the movie comes out!

It’s really hard for me to give reviews that aren’t positive, but I just want to be honest. This book wasn’t for me and I DNF’d it at 44%. I almost DNF’d it at the 25% mark, but wanted to give the book more of a chance. I couldn’t read anymore. A lot of readers will appreciate the book and I know it has a huge following so don’t take my word for it.

If you like dark romance, possessive alpha heroes, dub-con, rough sex, bratty heroines, mafia, bdsm, then this book is for you. I love most of those, but I had too many issues with this book.

I definitely hated the heroine- there’s bratty in a good sexual play way and then there’s immature, petty, spoiled bratty. I just couldn’t stand reading her. I also felt zero connection between Massimo and Laura. I found the passion and desire lacking. These things might very well come later in the book, but I didn’t finish.

Then there was the terminology- I know this book was translated which I’m ok with so I’m not sure if words were lost in translation, but I cringed at some of the descriptions. Mainly Massimo’s “body part” being called a “prick” constantly and Laura’s “part” was referred to as a “snatch”. For me those words aren’t sexy and immediately ruined the scenes. I realize that these might be normal terms in other parts of the world and I’m not mad at it- just doesn’t blow my skirt up.

Again, these are just my personal preferences so don’t let this deter you from reading this book. This book has a very big and happy audience, it just wasn’t my fave.

I always feel like I go into to something like this a little biased when I see it before I read it. There were things I liked and things I didn’t. Things that were translated to Netflix that I thought worked and things that didn’t, but at the end of the day I still enjoyed Massimo and Laura’s story. TBH I read reviews for the next two books and I’m not happy. I’m going to try to keep an open mind but ugh. Don’t read the reviews for the third book. I wish I hadn’t becAuse it’s all I’m going to think about.

Overall this book was good but could have been a bit better in places but this could be because it was translated to English and might have lost something a long the way. However I enjoyed the story and it was definitely hot and worth the read. The characters draw you in and you need to see how it will play out. It does end on a cliffhanger so be prepared for that.

Love the cover and I already binged this on Netflix. I grabbed the book to see if maybe there was a difference.

What did I like? This book mirrors the movie and have a better understanding of the cliffhanger at the end. Massimo takes Laura from a vacation deciding to keep her for 365 days. It reminds me of fifty shades but it has some unique qualities.

Would I recommend or buy? This is a dark romance and it’s no different from the movie. I was really hoping Massimo would be bigger but they chose the right guy for the movie.

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!

TW for SA and r*pe.

This might be one of the worst books I’ve ever read. Starting the first chapter with a graphic scene of s*xual a*sault was already a red flag but since I was given an arc, I wanted to finish the book so I could provide a proper review (and I don’t normally like DNFing). I wish I hadn’t. Massimo is a r*pist and it’s disgusting. His relationship with Laura is abusive and uncomfortable to read. I knew going in that it was a dark romance and that subgenre tends to flirt with the line of consent vs non-consent but this book completely crossed the line. It wasn’t even dubious consent. She said no. Multiple times. Some memorable (and NOT in a good way) quotes are:

“I didn’t fight him. I stood no chance.”

“Don’t be afraid, baby girl,” he said, pushing his hand between my legs. “I’ll be gentle, I promise.” I squeezed my legs together even harder, whining softly with fear. “Shush,” he whispered. “I will part your legs now and start with just one finger. Relax.” I knew he’d do as he was saying whether I wanted it or not. So I relaxed.”

“I don’t want you to.” “I know,” he said, and impaled me.”

“I was embarrassed, cringing. I wanted this to stop. “Massimo, let me go right now! You hear me?” He didn’t react and I screamed on the top of my lungs. “Don Massimo, for fuck’s sake!” It only made things worse. His rhythmically stroking finger was joined by his thumb, which pushed into my anus.”

I’ve heard the second and third books are even worse. How that’s possible, I’m not sure, but I definitely won’t be continuing the series. I have zero respect for an author that romanticizes s*xual a*sault and can’t believe that this book has as high of a rating as it does. Laura’s character is annoying but Massimo is abhorrent. If I could give this book zero stars, I would. I hope the author gets the psychiatric help she obviously needs.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Okay wow. This was interesting. I had pretty high expectations because of the movie, but this just felt a bit cringeworthy at times.

Holy hell, is it getting hit in here!!

I loved Massimo and his domineering, alpha, totally sweet for Laura self. It’s everything I love in a steamy mafia romance. While Laura can be submissive, she also takes no you-know-what when needed. I have a feeling Massimo only allows it from Laura. I’m super intrigued by Olga and have grown fond of Dominaco.

My only complaint(s) are the use of snatch, prick, and phallus but that’s a personal preference. Also, holy cliff hanger Batman!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

365 Days by Blanka Lipinska is the first book in this Trilogy. This starts the story of Massimo and Laura. Laura is taken by Massimo and tries to fight the attraction that he has for him. This was a movie and it does end with a cliffhanger to set us up for the next installment.

I had been dying to read this book even since prior to it being translated. I was so excited to see that it was available. I really enjoyed this story and now I have so many questions and I need to read more. I cannot wait to read more from this series and from this author. I look forward to see where these characters are taken and their story.

Massimo and Laura’s story is here …….

After the debut of 365 on Netflix, Americans couldn’t wait to get their hands on the Polish-to-English translation of 365. Now that the long-awaited debut on American soil is here, I find myself with very mixed feelings.

The plot of 365 was even better than the movie. Many nuances of Massimo and Laura’s interactions were so detailed and full of interesting moments that were not in the movie. I loved finding out details that were left out when translating book to screen. That is one of the reasons I believe in reading a book BEFORE watching a book-to-film version. Massimo seems to be even hotter when reading about the lengths he has gone to just to find Laura.

What left me shaking my head was the very poor nuance of translating this book from one language to another. In spite of LOVING the plot, the lack of attention to the English translation was faltering on so many levels. With a huge publisher behind the release of this book, I expect proofers to aid in smoothing out the differences in the use of words from Polish to English. To say that many overuses of the ‘Man in Black’ and the strange wording of body parts left a LOT to be desired. In fact – I often found it obnoxious to the point of spoiling the mood of the plot.

With that said – the story still kept my attention in spite of my eye rolling. I am invested enough that I definitely have to find out how Massimo and Laura’s story plays out. Will they find happiness in a world that has everything stacked against them?? Guess I need to read the next book to find out!!

I really, really wanted to love this story. Yes, I know it is pure smut to most. Yes, I know most can't stand anything with non-con, any kind of bdsm, etc. But honestly, this is just a book and all that. So that kind of reading and movies doesn't bother me. It's a fantasy that some people just find hot. And I thought most of the movie was hot. But I had a really hard time trying to read the book. And don't get me wrong-there are a lot of hot, steamy scenes in this book. But there was also a lot of other issues that are much more graphic than the movie was. And I don't think the translation was quite right? Or maybe it's just because I didn't understand some of the sayings. I don't really know. So while it wasn't the greatest book I will ever read in my lifetime, I will say it was definitely one of the hottest LOL!

Many readers have waited for 365 DNI to be translated into English and the wait is over! I had many mixed emotions as I read the book. I was excited. I had seen the movie. As far as action, sexiness and chemistry - it was yes, yes, and hell yes! Sadly, there was not enough content in the movie. To my surprise, the book closely mirrored the movie and even filled in some gaps.

“I am not a capo di tutti capi. They are older, you’re right. I am a capofamiglia, or a don.”

This is the story of Don Massimo – a complicated, dangerous and controlling man. While in a coma he has a vision of Laura. It haunts him as he searches for her. He even goes as far as having multiple portraits painted of her from his vision and hung all over his Sicilian mansion. Fate has Don Massimo and Laura’s path cross and the rest is a wild ride. The push and pull between the hero and heroine was palpable.

"I had thought he wasn’t one of those men who took women by force, but this behavior must have been normal for him. Such roughness came as naturally to him as shaking someone’s hand."

So much to say. There were things I liked and things I didn’t. I felt the beginning of the book was very crude. However, I sense that the author was setting the scene for Don Massimo’s character and lifestyle. Laura’s character was also a bit careless. But, once again, this is set in a different culture. She drinks, a lot. She is strong, independent and sexy.

"Alcohol always had that effect on me – I feel bolder – but with Massimo, when I got drunk it seemed to always bring out the demon in me."

Some have compared the story to Fifty Shades and I must disagree. There is some rough sex but no BDSM. As stated earlier there is a lot of push and pull between Don and Laura. The story has a steady pace. The ending is not quite a cliff but pretty close. I am sure there will be many opinions both good and bad on the book, its content – both included and excluded. I will absolutely be reading book #2 as soon as the translation comes to English. I need to know what happens next!

As far as the next 365 movie goes – count me in. Netflix has done a great job with amazing scenery, action and sexiness. Now if the movie can match the trailers and the hype…

This book is excellent. It's entertaining and at times heartbreaking. My heart stopped a few times as well. I love the descriptive writing and it rolled like a movie in my head. I devoured this read!

It took me entirely too long to pick it up to read and I regret that decision. I chose to read it because of all the talk about the movie so I'm unsure if this is the authors first book. Blanka Lipinska writes well with an excellent storyline and characters that I like. Mostly. Massimo had to grow on me, and he most definitely did so. I love Laura's character as she is strong and doesn't roll over, but shows her vulnerability in the times she chose to give in to Massimo. I hate cliffhangers, but this is worth it. I cannot wait to see how this story plays out.

Thank you Atria/Emily Nestled Books and NetGalley for the ARC of 365 DAYS. This is my voluntary and honest review.

I’m sure you’ve heard about this one, maybe watched the movie? The movie in my opinion was better than the book. But only slightly. I couldn’t get past the fact this guy kidnapped his dream girl (literally) and forces her to fall in love with him. A lot of things just left a bad taste in my mouth. It was all too quick and ended on a cliffhanger that I think could have been handled better. Massimo was not a nice guy. He was hot/cold/abusive and the lack of diversity (all skinny perfect people) made me irritated. If you are looking for a tale of luxury and (red-flags everywhere) passion - try this out.

This book was not what I was expecting. I watched the movie before the book came out and loved it. I think if I would have read the book first I might have liked it better.
