I love the resources included in this book club kit. I would use this with older children such as 6 grade - high school. Overall it has great questions to keep conversation going and I could see myself using this with a book club.

I thought the questions were a bit lengthy and (in practice) may not generate lots of discussion. They reminded me of prompts from a high school English class where you have to write an essay.

This was a book that I had previously read. I loved this book. I loved how Michelle explained in her own words the ends and outs of how she became the woman that she is today. She is a very motivational person and it easily rubs off on others. As I read the pages I felt like I was in the room with her as she told the stories of her life. I highly recommend this book.

Becoming, the memoir penned by former First Lady Michelle Obama, is a compelling narrative that offers readers an intimate glimpse into her extraordinary life. From her humble beginnings on the South Side of Chicago to her years spent in the White House as the first African American First Lady of the United States, Obama shares her experiences with honesty, grace, and profound insight.

One of the most captivating aspects of Becoming is Obama's candid exploration of her personal journey. She vividly recounts the challenges she faced growing up in a working-class neighborhood, navigating issues of race and identity, and striving to define her own path in the world. Through her narrative, readers gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of her upbringing and the formative influences that shaped her into the resilient and compassionate leader she became.

Throughout the book, Obama reflects on her role as a wife and mother, offering touching anecdotes about her relationship with her husband, Barack Obama, and their daughters, Malia and Sasha. She shares the joys and sacrifices of family life, as well as the unique pressures and responsibilities that come with being part of America's most scrutinized family. Her unwavering commitment to her family and her unwavering dedication to public service are evident throughout the pages of Becoming.

Beyond her personal story, Obama also delves into her time in the White House, providing readers with behind-the-scenes insights into some of the most pivotal moments of her husband's presidency. From the highs of historic achievements to the lows of political setbacks, she offers a nuanced perspective on the realities of public life and the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.

What sets Becoming apart is Obama's distinctive voice and her ability to connect with readers on a deeply personal level. Her prose is warm and engaging, inviting readers into her world with authenticity and empathy. Whether she's reflecting on the power of education, the importance of mentorship, or the need for empathy and understanding in today's divided world, her words resonate with a sense of hope and optimism.

In conclusion, Becoming is more than just a memoir; it's a testament to the power of resilience, empathy, and self-discovery. Through her compelling storytelling and profound insights, Michelle Obama invites readers to reflect on their own journeys, to embrace their authenticity, and to strive for a better, more inclusive world. It's a book that inspires, uplifts, and reminds us of the transformative power of hope and perseverance.

The Book Club Kit for Becoming by Michelle Obama is full of interesting and thought-provoking questions.

I’m not American and yet I felt like I was getting to know Michelle Obama from this. There’s a lot packed into the seven page guide, and I really want to get the memoir.

Thanks to Michelle Obama and publisher for an eARC in exchange for a voluntary review.

BECOMING BOOK CLUB KIT
BY: MICHELLE OBAMA

I apologize in advance if this is not a review of Michelle Obama's favorite of mine called, "Becoming." I searched out the Book Club Kit on Good Reads and it brought me to the appropriate page to post this review of the "BOOK CLUB KIT," twice. Each time I entered my rating it brought me to the wrong place which is why it's posted here. I refuse to keep doing the same thing over again and getting hijacked here. So here is my very short review of the Book Club Kit that will have to be accepted.

I listened to the Audio version of this very powerful memoir of Michelle Obama's "Becoming." It remains my top three favorite Audio experiences. My other two are "At Home in the World," by Joyce Maynard, and "Inheritance," by Dani Shapiro.

So if you're looking for three fascinating Audio listening experiences be sure to try any of these three.

I liked this Book Club Kit of Michelle Obama's "Becoming," because I plan on using it at my book club meeting as we are discussing her memoir.

It has a wealth of resources to enhance any book club discussions. One of the things that I appreciate about it is the thirty questions to ask. They are broken up between two categories of each containing fifteen questions. Additionally, what I also loved about this Book Club Kit: "Becoming," are the questions and answers section with this iconic former First Lady

I know that this is going to be a hit with my book club this week, so I was happy when I discovered that it was available at random, today, on Net Galley.

I have seen book club kits before offered by Net Galley for other books that I have read, but never knew that they were so helpful until today. I will be sure to utilize them in the future after seeing how helpful that this one is.

It's frustrating that the Good Reads Website has me posting my review on her memoir in hardcover, which again I'm only doing because when I began my review on the proper book club kit in Good Reads it jumped to the hardcover of her memoir. I'm not going to torture myself by repeating the same actions leading me to here, therefore it will be posted here. But, not for my lack of trying.

Thank you to Net Galley, Michelle Obama and Penguin Random House Library Resources for generously providing me with my ARC of Book Club Kit "Becoming." All opinions are my own.

"Becoming" by Michelle Obama is an inspiring and deeply personal memoir that takes readers on a remarkable journey through the life of one of the most influential and admired women of our time. In this beautifully written book, Michelle Obama shares her experiences, her values, and her insights with a level of honesty and vulnerability that is both refreshing and relatable.

The book is divided into three sections: "Becoming Me," "Becoming Us," and "Becoming More." Each section provides a window into different phases of Michelle's life, from her childhood in a working-class neighborhood in Chicago to her years at Princeton and Harvard, her career as a lawyer and public servant, and her time as the First Lady of the United States.

One of the most compelling aspects of "Becoming" is Michelle's ability to convey the complexities of her journey. She doesn't shy away from discussing the challenges, doubts, and insecurities she faced along the way. Instead, she shares them openly, making her story all the more relatable and her accomplishments even more inspiring.

The book also offers an intimate look at Michelle's relationship with Barack Obama. Her descriptions of their courtship, marriage, and partnership provide valuable insights into their shared values and mutual respect. Their love story is woven throughout the narrative, adding depth and warmth to the memoir.

As a First Lady, Michelle Obama used her platform to advocate for important issues such as education, health, and military families. Her passion for these causes shines through in "Becoming," as she reflects on the impact of her initiatives and the people she met along the way. Her commitment to making a positive difference is evident and commendable.

Ultimately, "Becoming" is a book about growth, self-discovery, and the power of resilience. It's a testament to the idea that our journeys are ongoing and that we are all, in our own ways, becoming the people we are meant to be.

Michelle Obama's writing is eloquent and engaging, making this memoir not only an essential read for those interested in politics and history but also a deeply moving and relatable story for anyone seeking inspiration and a greater understanding of the human experience. "Becoming" is a triumph that leaves readers with a profound sense of hope and a belief in the capacity for positive change.

Fantastic book club guide for readers of Michelle Obama’s first book, Becoming. Like the companion memoir, the language here is accessible and conversational in tone. Included are great conversation starters, large print quotes for discussion, and an interview with Mrs.. Obama on her writing process/conceptualization of the book. This would also be a helpful guide for solo or buddy readers who are looking to dive deeper into the reading experience.

Thanks to netgalley for this advanced copy. Opinions expressed are my own.

This book club kit felt very limited in comparison to others I've seen. It provided information and discussion questions, but did not include anything extra that would make the book club meeting an event. The font was also quite small, so it felt like some pages were a wall of text.

This is a great resource for a book club discussion, or a classroom situation where the book "Becoming" was assigned. The talking points and questions when right along with what is in the book giving background into Mrs. Obama's life. I feel that the Q&A with Mrs. Obama at the end was a nice touch, giving a little bit more insight as to why she wrote this and what her goals were in presenting this to the world.

This is a REVIEW ONLY of The BOOK CLUB KIT for “Becoming,” a biographical memoir and positive motivation book by former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama. This seven-page e-book is dense with discussion questions to stimulate insightful two-way conversations among reading groups, yet it is blatantly lacking in visual appeal because of its drab color scheme and lack of art and bold, eye-catching graphics. Nonetheless, these Q & As will be useful for Book Club Leaders, Librarians, as well as readers themselves who want extra insight into the background of the book and author. ❇️ As complex and interesting as the topics covered in the book, it would be nice to see bold, colorful graphics, art, songs, maps, recipes, clothing, bookmarks and other visual effects to depict Ms. Obama on a personal level through the messages she offers in her book. ❇️

TheBookMaven graciously thanks NetGalley, Author Michelle Obama, and Publisher Penguin Random House Library Resources for this Advanced Reader’s Copy (ARC) for review.

This is a great option for those of you going to discuss Becoming by Michelle Obama in a book club meeting.
This kit contains a guide, questions, and material for your book club group to discuss in it’s meeting.
If your bookclub is anything like mine, it’s easy to get off of the subject at hand or be at a loss for what to discuss next. We have a couple people in our group who always tend to lead the conversation away from the topic of the book and toward personal lives ect.. I mean I don’t want to sound antisocial but there’s a time and place to hang out and talk about family and work. I like to go to bookclub to actually discuss the book.

This guide will help to keep the conversation flowing and direct meaningful conversations around topics the book touches on.
I find these questions and topics to be well thought out, in depth, and thought provoking. Everything you need for a great book club meeting.

(Please Note: this does not contain the book Becoming)

I graciously received this book from NetGalley and my review is 100% honest and my own.
