I suppose I should preface this review by saying I love unicorns. Have loved them since I was an itty bitty girl. Something (at the time) about them having been left behind on the Ark because they were having too much fun appealed to me (thank you Irish Rovers).

Thus my love for this book might not be too surprising. That said, this is a clever little set-up where the ‘toy’ unicorn is actually a visiting alien!! The unicorn evaluates the planet in many ways; including if the unicorn aliens should invade!
I love the use of colour in Invasion of the Unicorns to show mood. Black and white pages are frustrating, sad, or angry moments for the unicorn; full colour pages are happy moments!

A perfect read for any age group! And I bet any animal loving kiddo will love the (destructive!) dog and his antics; if not the awesome alien unicorn!
I will confess to having already bought this for some little ones because I love it so much!

This book was fun, but it has a shelf life. A unicorn comes to earth and hides in a toy machine. Its mission is to determine if the Unicorns should invade earth. This book is the “log” of this unicorn explorer as he joins a family. The story is nice and the illustrations are lovely. But it would be awkward to read at Storytime. It would be great for bedtime though.

Beautiful illustrations. Sweet and touching story. I’ll have to look for unicorns on vacation everywhere I go from now on! I might have to get a copy of this for my personal collection. I might also have to go buy a stuffed unicorn. :).

David Biedrzycki does it again with Invasion of the Unicorns! Another fantastic story with beautiful illustrations that will draw kids in and make them laugh. I can see this one being nominated for many awards, including state and national book award lists. The story will make an excellent mentor text as well for teachers in teaching writing strategies.

When an alien unicorn pretends to be a unicorn stuffed animal in order to infiltrate a human family and gain intel for his unicorn brethren back home, what could possibly go wrong? A lot! Adorable, funny, heartwarming, and filled with some great illustrations-this is sure to be a read-aloud hit!

Reminiscent of Dan Santat books - both in the storyline and art, my kids loved this one, I did not as much. It's gorgeous illustrations, and this will be one they read to themselves.

Invasion of the Unicorns was a very sweet and fun children's read. A single stuffed unicorn is "sent from the overlords" to see if Earth is a habitat worth taking over. The unicorn lives with a little girl and experiences all ranges of human activities and discovers how wonderful it is to be loved by a friend!
The illustrations are beautiful and this is one that I would recommend or buy for a friend's child.

I highly recommended this book ...... for all ages!!!! To those who start to read comics, or those who read any kind of books, or simply to those curious minds. This is a good book to spend your time with, with a twist at the very end. And nicely drawn too!

This was a very cute, interesting read. The story was entertaining, and will grab the attention of kids for sure! The pictures went great with it!

I am extremely disappointed with the fact that this was approved for me on the same day it was archived. So I received my acceptance email yesterday and not more than a few hours later I tried to download it. But it was archived yesterday as well. So no matter what, I would not have been able to download it. I’m surprised that can even happen so I’m very upset with this situation. Obviously I won’t be able to write a review because I did not get the book.

This book is too cute. Such a delight for my unicorn loving heart. The main character is adorable and funny. The art is so charming. I'd definitely recommend this to any unicorn lover.

Invasion of the Unicorns highlights a lone alien, parading as a unicorn stuffed animal. This unicorn comes to Earth to engage in reconnaissance to determine if and when a unicorn invasion would be feasible. The unicorn is taken from a grab machine (with the big claws) and is finally "caught" by a dad. The child loves the unicorn, and integrates Unicorn into her family. Initially, Unicorn is purely business, scouting for his alien species, but eventually he grows to love the girl and her family. His attitude changes, and eventually he advises against an invasion, but suggests a destination for vacations for his species instead.

Initially, I thought this book was odd, but as I read it, it was more endearing and I really enjoyed it! The concept is funny, and the end result is endearing. The story is told as if the Unicorn was sending back reports to his superiors, and I thought it was written in a unique and creative way. I could definitely see children loving the beautiful illustrations, and the message of the book resonating with both children and adults. I would recommend this as a change of pace for classrooms, as well as for home libraries for children.

So cute! This is perfect for kids a little older who are starting to read on their own, but parents will love reading it to them as well.

Hilarious, genius, and really quite gorgeous, this will be hard to beat were I to give out awards for such things. When a happy dad gets a unicorn out of one of those arcade crane game thingies, to give to his happy daughter, neither of them is aware that the unicorn is a real, live unicorn, from a real live unicorn planet, and is actually sounding Earth out for invasion. In amongst finding some wonderful things he would like to take back home with him, he has to sort out whether we deserve being enslaved, which you have to admit is a little unlikely considering the size of him. There's not a beat wrong with this creation – it has a great pace, a really warm and sustained sense of delight and of humour, and the young audience it's intended for will still be able to cope with the ironies the story and our unicorn character bring up. It's such a charming and droll piece, and a pleasure to look at on every comic book-structured page. It's why I seldom give out five star reviews for fiction titles – there has to be a way for the real stand-outs to shine. This shines brighter than almost all.

ARC Copy...who knew a seemingly strange premise could be so warm and fuzzy. Yes I found it hilarious and cute an alien (that looks like a unicorn) to question his invasion mission when he gets warm and fuzzy on the inside as well. The illustrations are soft and beautiful too and I like how it gradually becomes colourful along side the "Unicorn's" gradual realization.

Oh my god. Forget the cover. The contents inside! Was I watching an anime?

It's the sketches! They are so good and vivid. Artist, you are super awesome!

And the storyline. It's different and I don't think I would want to win another toy animal from a fair. Or maybe I want that to make such stories happen!

I love the alien vibes. I love how each of the character has been described so well. It's like a documentary done by your most favourite pets. Yes, like how your cat or your dog would describe you knowing you.

I love this adorable unicorn so much!
