This was a very fun and enjoyable romance. Perfect for holiday reading or for those days when you just want to be entertained.

When Lyra and Marcus end up as neighbors and start dating, it should be fine but for the fact that both are undercover agents with competing agencies and competing directives. Hers is to take him out if he gets in the way of her mission. Can Lyra really do that to the man she's starting to fall for? He may not think so, but he could be deadly wrong...

I love this fun, sexy spy vs spy romp! I admit the cliffhanger wasn't as fun as the rest of the story, but I have faith in Nana's ability to write her way out of the big mess The Spy in 3B ended in, and I can't wait because Lyra and Marcus are a great couple who deserve better than that. I'm counting down the days until The Assassin in 5F is released!

Nana is an autobuy author . She knows how to write addictive and engaging books. This book led me to start a KOBO account.

This was fun to read especially when Lyra and Marcus are both struggling with their lies and their truths. It was fun seeing their lives intersect without the other knowing the actual truth. I was sucked into the story from the beginning and not only was I hooked on Lyra and Marcus' chemistry but was also intrigued by the other characters. We need more of everyone else!

What a book, what a couple and what a cliffhanger!! Lyra and Marcus are spies and these edgy, fun characters really got my attention. I cannot wait for the second book!

I read and reviewed this for the Boobies & Noobies Book Club (live on Instagram every final Wednesday of the month) and if you're craving a romance novel take on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", this is a great option! What happens when two spies fall for each other, without realizing the other one is spy? Pure entertainment, that's what.

Keep in mind that this is the first book in a duet, so it ends on a bit of cliffhanger. But don't worry... the second book in the duet is available now on KOBO, so there's no reason you can't read the books back to back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

Neighbors brought together by a dating app, Lyra supposedly is a marketing consultant and Marcus claims to be a videogame designer. But in reality, and unknown to the other, both work as undercover operatives for a pair of competitive covert agencies.

On each of their dates, something goes wrong, and one or the other has to create a crazy story to cover for their real job. But while their cover stories may be fake, their spark and attraction is all too real, even if they both know they shouldn’t be dragging a civilian into their mess . . . especially one they could care for.

This entire premise is hilarious and Lyra and Marcus are adorable together! Neither wants to date but is being pushed into it by their bosses, and the odds of being paired with a spy from a rival agency is just entertaining as can be for readers!

Marcus is such a cute geek, pushing Lyra into admitting she wants to be more than friends just by saying they are dating. And Lyra is hilarious pretending to be clumsy and unable to defend herself so Marcus teaches her self defense.

It’s a rom-com turned romantic suspense and I loved it! Their banter as a couple is the best. But, this book ends with a bang when their worlds finally collide on a mission, and they can no longer deny what they should have suspected all along. Nana Malone really set up The Assassin in 5F to be one heck of a conclusion! 5 stars.

Imagine finding that perfect someone. A market consultant and a video game designer. Marcus and Lyra were practically neighbors and had one thing in a common. They were not who they pretended to be. How is that even possible they are both spies? And the icing on the cake…they are tracking down the same double agent. Their chemistry will set every spy gadget working into a frenzy to find the clues to stay one step ahead of uncovering the truth. What an amazing start to the beginning of the series!

Lyra Wilkinson lives a web of lies. Her job. Her last name. It's all a persona that allows her to do her job covertly. Marcus Black lives next door. He is also a tangled in a web of lies to hide what he really does. Ironically, they are matched on a dating app. They're each thinking there's no chemistry, but then that first kiss finally happens. Both their operations are after the same person. It's a series of sit on the edge of your seat, bite your lip and all your finger nails off kind of suspense. But it also has elements of being comical because you can't help but laugh that it took so long for that first kiss. And then there's that famous (infamous??) Nana Malone cliffhanger at the end of the book. Like seriously, it wouldn't be a Malone masterpiece without one!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

I freaking LOVED The Spy in 3B. I did. I kept wondering when Lyra and Marcus would figure out the other's true job, and how that would all play out. Since there was some slow burn going on, I also was wondering when the steam would kick in. But once it did, it didn't really stop. Marcus and Lyra are both fantastic characters. I am intrigued by them, and I'd love to know more about their history with the companies. But I highly doubt I'll get a prequel, so I'll just have to make up the backstory. I am finding myself curious about Rhodes, Addie, Roz, and Tyler too. So I wonder if any of them will ever get their stories told. Or maybe I should peruse Nana Malone's backlist to see if there is something about these fabulous side characters.

I cannot wait to see what happens in The Assassin in 5F. I have a feeling it is going to be epic. I did a quick search, and it looks like The Assassin in 5F is coming in July. So my wait won't be too long.

I highly recommend The Spy in 3B! It's so good.

Spy vs Spy. When you work for a covert operation secrecy is a must. Your cover must never be blown. However when you start dating your neighbor it becomes a challenge. Lyra and Marcus both work for rival agencies. They try to maneuver a new relationship around the danger and unpredictability of the jobs without giving up secrets of what they fo for a living. The story is fun dates , with an element and full of chemistry between Lyra and Marcus. Fast paced and full action. When the truth is revealed can Marcus and Lyra make the right decisions? The cliffhanger leaves you guessing

A fast-paced story full of action, danger, intrigue and steamy moments that’s a terrific spy vs. spy adventure. It took me a minute to get into the story but after that it was an exciting race to the ending. A cliffhanger ending! Marcus and Lyra are in a push and pull throughout the story and the chemistry is hot. They have questions about each other with their spy spidey senses, but they can’t stay away from each other because the attraction is too strong. They each still have a mission to accomplish even if they are after the same bad guys. They just work for different teams. Fabulous romance suspense with a bit of a Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe. I’m looking forward to the next installment in this thrilling duet!

The lines between their hearts and their jobs blur in Nana Malone's latest duet, The Spy in 3B.

Lyra and Marcus are neighbors in the same building, they've seen each other around but it wasn't until they matched on a dating app, that they decided to give it go. Believing the other is exactly who they say they are is their first in a series of mistakes. But getting too involved with the spy in 3B just might cost them more than their budding relationship.

I always forget that I vow to never read Nana Malone books until they're both out! This was a well-crafted suspenseful tale with great characters. I certainly didn't expect that ending! What a cliffy! Can't wait for the exciting conclusion!

I loved The Spy in 3B so much, and I can't wait to see what happens in The Assassin in 5F!

The Spy in 3B is the first book in the The Covert Affairs Duet. Lyra and Marcus are neighbors that work for competing spy organizations, but they don't know that they work on opposing sides. They've had a few less-than-thrilling dates that have been interrupted by work, but when they are mugged on their third date, they both go into protection mode. They want to keep the other safe from the same bad guy their both tracking!

Nana Malone has given us an absolutely amazing story. The Spy in 3B moves at a fast pace, and is chock full of witty banter, humor and intrigue. Lyra and Marcus have amazing chemistry, and they're drawn to each other despite their first few dates being total busts. Their attraction is evident in all of their interactions, but it's more than just physical. They want to care for each other. They want to protect each other. It's simultaneously adorable and hot.

Be forewarned - this is a DUET and The Spy in 3B ends on a cliffhanger, which will be concluded in The Assassin in 5F.

Audio feedback: narration by Eboni Flowers and James Joseph is amazing. Eboni is flawless as Lyra. She's sass, determination, grit and wry humor all wrapped into a voice that you can listen to for days! James really captures the dry British wit that Nana wrote into Marcus's character. Loved this listen.

This book was so much fun and entertaining! But that cliffhanger!

It's filled with unexpected twists & turns and action that keep you guessing what will happen next. It has Mr and Mrs Smith's vibes but a lot more fun. I can't wait for the conclusion to the story.

I adored this book and Lyra & Marcus. I knew this was a duet but it still didn’t prepare me for the cliffhanger. Can’t wait for book 2!

How does one live a “normal” life when their chosen profession does not allow for one hundred percent honesty? One just needs to find the right partner. Lyra is a spy and loves her job. However, after a somewhat trying last case, she is told that she needs to find a relationship with the thought that it will help her get her emotions in check. To that end, she winds up going on a date with Marcus, her neighbor, via a dating app. He is a video game programmer and seems stable. However, all is not as it seems. This is classic Nana Malone who brings her effervescent writing style to craft two characters who are engaging, witty and full of vibrance. It is a tale of intrigue, drama and mystery that will enthrall any reader. As an avid reader of this author for quite some time, each book just delivers a one two punch that has one turning the pages to see what happens next. It does end in a cliffhanger but it does not deter from chomping at the bit as the time passes until the next book when the answers are revealed. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the next installment! I volunteered to read a copy of this book provided by Netgalley.

3.75 stars--THE SPY IN 3B is the first instalment in Nana Malone’s contemporary, adult COVERT AFFAIRS romantic suspense duet focusing on British Exodus agent Marcus Black, and The Firm’s Lyra ‘Adamson’ Wilkinson.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Marcus and Lyra) THE SPY IN 3B follows the building romance and relationship between British Exodus agent Marcus Black, and The Firm’s Lyra Wilkinson, only there is a caveat-neither one knows the other is Black Ops agent working opposite sides of the pond. Lyra Wilkinson has been ordered by her superiors to enter into a committed relationship with someone outside of The Firm-enter Lyra’s neighbor-Marcus Black-a game designer by day, a British agent by night. A series of failed attempts to date, and an overlap of assignments figures prominently into Lyra and Marcus’s fledgling relationship but all is about to spiral out of control as both The Firm and Exodus have been assigned the same target. What ensues is the uneasy but building relationship between Lyra and Marcus, and the potential fall-out as secrets are about to be revealed.

The Firm and Exodus were once part of the same Deep Ops group but a fall-out between the original partners led to the break down, and start up of two entirely different Black Ops operations, both doing the same work, but in opposition to one another. Unbeknownst to our leading couple, The Firm and Exodus are about to execute a similar assignment, placing Lyra and Marcus on opposing teams.

The relationship between Lyra and Marcus is one of immediate attraction but both have loved and lost in the past. Lyra feels compelled to obey her superiors but is blindsided when her past is assigned to her team. Marcus knows love and loss first hand, but knows Lyra may be the woman that can free his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to friends and fellow operatives: Roz’s best friend and agent Addie Franklin; their boss Roz, and Lyra’s ex Tyler Warden, as well as Marcus’ best friend and partner Rhodes Matheson.

THE SPY IN 3B is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, attraction, relationships, friendships and betrayal. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance is captivating; the characters are energetic and secretive. THE SPY IN 3B ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

This was such a fun read! It reminded me of the TV show Alias with spies, action, danger, and romance all rolled up into one great book.

Lyra and Marcus are neighbors who were matched on a dating app and have been out a few times. Neither realizes that the other is a spy. I liked that this is dual POV so we get info on the organizations they work for as well as seeing them both in action. It was interesting seeing how their feelings for one another changed and grew as they spent more time together.

I read this in less than a day because I couldn't put it down. The story is fast paced and I loved the mix of spy action and sweet moments as they fell for each other. I didn't realize it, but this is the first book in a duet and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Lyra and Marcus's story was very entertaining, I love Nana Malone books and this one was not the exception. Lyra is a great character, strong, badass and knows what she wants. Marcus is dreamy, and they both work in the same thing, but they are actually rivals, making this story more fun. The end took me by surprise as I was expecting a standalone and nope, I discovered that now I am going to want more and soon.
