I have been eager for a new entry from Anne Rive since the last book, and found much to enjoy here. I appreciate the collaboration with Christopher and the historical grounding in the book. I think the element of this collaboration that I enjoy most is the way the writer team brings this mythic world through life through literary language. There is a descriptive and ethereal quality to the writing that I found effective in their world-building.

Having read this one, I’m now eager for the next book, and looking forward to potential media adaptations.

When I discovered that we were getting a third book in The Mummy series, I had to read it. So thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me a chance to snag and read.

If you have enjoyed the previous Mummy books (1 & 2), then you'll enjoy this too. The Mummy series has been a fun series that while I want more from it than what is offered, I still find myself enjoying the characters, the secrets and mysteries of the past and fun that is had with religion.

While I rated the previous two books 3/5, I have to rate 3/5 on this as well. I think my issues with it is that they're very interesting but they don't bring a lot of depth to the world. She has such an interesting dynamic of characters, history, and magic... but everything that happens in the course of the book has no real stakes or that you feel the outcome of their decisions change the plot or their world.

There are also things that are brought to your attention that seem to be left in the dust. So it makes you wonder if there will be another book within the series. There are also characters that are sidelined (quite like Eliiott was in the second book), which is strange since said character would be of interest to the plot at hand and one of the plot happenings.

While I find the plot of the first book to be the strongest in terms of excitement, danger, and twists, I feel that the writing is a lot better in the 2nd book and this. I just wish that the plot was just as good though! Still, they're fun books and you'll find yourself craving a tv series or mini series from it.
