AnnieLee Keyes showed up in Nashville out of nowhere, with the voice of an angel, and a sassy personality that could have been said to be just the opposite. Her defenses were always up, and she seldom reacted the way anyone expected. She never trusted anyone who said they just wanted to help her out. Life had taught her that everything has a price.

But Ruthanna Ryder - the 'Queen of Country' who has recently retired, and Ethan Blake (with his own dark history), recognize something in AnnieLee, and they are determined to see her star rise as it should. By the time they realize how little they know of AnnieLee's past, it has already potentially gotten the best of her.

While I've ready several James Patterson books over the years, I really wanted to read this one for the fact that Dolly Parton was in on it. I admittedly tried to read the two female country musicians in her voice, obvs.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It moved smoothly and entertainingly, and I continually wanted to know what would happen next. I would recommend this book for those who like music stories (not even necessarily country), independent female characters, and those with tragic backstories. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars and would keep reading anything else Dolly Parton works on.

AnnieLee Keyes is determined to make it in Nashville. Songs are her every thought and she has a voice that captivates others, even in a town overloaded with would be musicians. However, AnnieLee has a mysterious past that is lurking, waiting to catch up with her. Will the spotlight save her or destroy her forever?

I’m normally not a fan of books that delve into the celebrity process but the hints we get at something darker lurking in the background made RUN, ROSE, RUN so fascinating! I wasn’t sure what to make of AnnieLee initially, as our first contacts with her showcase some darker moments, particularly since we are given a scary scene and then flash back to see how AnnieLee’s life ended up in that situation. However, taken as a whole, AnnieLee’s strength of character is hard to miss as she has faced some of the darkest situations and kept going. AnnieLee has grit and determination. No matter what obstacles she faces, she meets them head-on- and I love that in a character!

Surprisingly, I also like the character of Ruthanna Ryder. Initially, I was quite annoyed with her as she comes across as rude and demanding. However, as the story line progresses, we begin to see a different side of her and it’s hard not to like and respect her. However, my favorite character is Ethan Blake. He lives in the midst of all the glitz and glamour, hobnobs with the rich and famous, and yet he remains down to earth, personable, and empathetic. His past story is heart breaking, all the more so because of how caring he remains despite all he’s dealt with in his life.

Any book co-written by James Patterson and Dolly Parton is a must read and RUN, ROSE, RUN lives up to expectations! Not much can be said about the underlying mystery without giving away the whole story, but RUN, ROSE, RUN touches on some very dark issues against the backdrop of a rising country music star. If you love country music (and especially if you love Dolly Parton- the audio features her voice!), give RUN, ROSE, RUN a try as it’s an interesting ride!

I hate to give this two stars. I love Dolly Parton; she's an Appalachian hero that I have grown up with. On the flip side, I don't usually enjoy James Paterson. So there is that.
This is the most ill-contrived story. AnnieLee is on the run from some powerful, scary people. BUT SHE WANTS TO BE A COUNTRY STAR AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY TO SEE HER FACE. Like she didn't know this and the girl isn't written as stupid so I don't understand.
The characters are fine; I enjoyed Ruthanna. But the story has so much jargon that I had trouble understanding some things. The songs included are fun and used well. I need to listen to the album that goes with this.
Overall, this was a miss.

This was a really fun read! I am a big fan of Dolly Parton, and her partnership with James Patterson to write a novel had me intrigued. Especially great for anyone interested in the music industry. Take it for what it is - a good , entertaining, and fast-paced novel perfect for a beach or holiday read!

AnnieLee Keyes arrives in Nashville with big dreams and bigger secrets. When she is befriended by country music icon Ruthanna Ryder, it seems that things are finally falling into place. If her past doesn't catch up to her first.

This collaboration between James Patterson and Dolly is all I'd expected and hoped it would be. Fast paced, short chapters, great characters and a good story. This was exactly what I needed after some books that didn't work for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Run, Rose, Run by James Patterson; Dolly Parton held so much promise...until I opened the file and started reading. The novel was okay, although if the authors were different I may not have finished. Dolly's personality shone through in the character that resembled her, but the mystery didn't grab my attention since it took to the end of the book to divulge any information on it...a deadly mistake in my opinion. All we knew was that she was on the run.

Thanks to the authors, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Surprise - the reason I wanted to read this book was DOLLY PARTON - as was the case for many who read it, I'm sure. I also was lucky enough to hear Dolly and James talk about this before it came out over zoom. That being said, it did fall a little flat for me. Obviously, there was more to the plot, but it did have a A Star is Born vibe going on which I struggled to get past. Loved RuthAnna's character (probably because, hello, Dolly!) Overall, not my favorite and wish I had liked it more, unfortunately.

A rollercoaster ride from the beginning! Action, Mystery and a little romance thrown in. Ms. Parton's sass and wit are prevalent throughout this book. The story is imaginative, the characters are endearing, You won't be able to put this one down! I highly recommend for anyone who likes mystery thrillers.

I love this book it was much better than I thought it would be. These two were such good writers together. As soon as I finished reading it, I went right back to the beginning and started reading it again. It was that good at least to me it was, living here in East Tennessee I feel connected to Dolly. EVERYONE needs to read this book! It reminded me of so much of her throughout the story.

Thank you so much, NetGalley, the writer's, and the Publisher for allowing me to read this read and review this great book.

Well I love Dolly! So while I didn't think the mystery behind this was so great, I appreciated all of her lyrics and that her true self came through.

An interesting mystery with the added bonus of a soundtrack. I highly recommend listening to the songs on YouTube as you read the book. It definitely adds something.

This wonderful collaboration between James Patterson and Dolly Parton was a delight! A true rags to riches story with a compelling mystery takes second place to Parton's knowledge of the music industry in Nashville and the three dimensional characters. Will recommend it to my customers!

I like James Patterson and I like Dolly Parton, so I thought I would love, or at least like this book. That’s unfortunately not the case. Like others have said, Rose isn’t the most likable and it’s predictable (which I’m usually ok with), and while I know you should allow some bend in reality, things were being pushed too far for my imagination.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown, and Company for providing this ARC to review. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise. ~

It’s fitting the this collaboration features a young singer who will do what necessary to, not just survive but thrive. It has all the elements that could challenge a good outcome,it is a great first pairing . Great read

Another wonderful book by Jane's Patterson! Loved every minute of reading this book

The ending was a bit predictable, but it was a wonderful read. Not one of Peterson's best and not quite up to the hype, but I would recommend.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for granting me a copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.

Run, Rose, Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson was an okay read. I was really looking forward to reading this book since I am a fan of Mr Patterson’s other writing collaborations. This book has very interesting characters, but I found them difficult to like. The whole story was hard to read overall. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher. These opinions are entirely my own.

What a combination of James Patterson and Dolly Parton, both icons in their fields. In this suspenseful story of an up and coming country singer on the run, in fear from her past, I was anticipating something great. Well, it almost made it there. AnnieLee (alias Rose) was more than a country bumpkin trying to make it in Nashville by talking her way into singing at bars and dives. It is there that she is discovered by Ethan Blake, a former military guy, who was in a basement band with Ruthanna, Nashville’s Country singing princess. With grit, talent, and a lot of luck, AnnieLee is taken under the wing by Ruthanna and mentored to become the next big Nashville star. Unfortunately, her presence makes her visible to those she is trying to hide from and danger follows her. Suspenseful and terrifying at times, we get a glimpse into AnnieLee’s abusive past. Sometimes it’s painful to remember. But it did seem as if it was too easy and quick for AnnieLee’s rise to fame and success. Some interesting backstories with main characters, but not too in depth. Overall, the writing flowed and it keep me reading. Some was predictable like whenever she hitched a ride, you knew that bad things were going to happen. However, I enjoyed the read as I found it overall entertaining and would recommend it to others to read to. Interesting to see all the song lyrics at the end, I’ll have to listen to them by Dolly Parton.

Many thanks to #netgalley #jamespatterson #dollyparton #runroserun for the opportunity ot read and review this book.

I'm a huge fan of pretty much everything Dolly Parton and James Patterson create, but more importantly I love what they both do to promote literacy for children and teens. So I was excited to see this collaboration from the two of them.

Run Rose Run is a quick and engaging read. I was expecting it to be a bit autobiographical, and maybe Rose's meteoric rise to fame is similar to Dolly's experience (I don't know), but from what I've read about Dolly's life, it sounds like she was born into a large and loving family (although "dirt poor") and that is where Rose's life differs.

Although I enjoyed the book, it all seemed a little quick and easy for Rose to succeed in the music business. I guess timing and connections has everything to do with success, but it just seemed like the only near-stumble in her music career was considering signing with a sketchy manager/company. It was definitely an interesting book and there was good suspense building to the end when we finally find out who and why Rose is running from in her past.

I liked this story, but I think it will make a better movie than book...looking forward to it!

I'm not the biggest James Patterson (at least, not anymore), but I love Dolly Parton, and I thought this was a really fun read. I received a free digital copy in exchange for my honest review, but since I received this after the book was published, I ended up listening to the audiobook. The audiobook is fantastic, and I highly recommend listening to this one. Dolly Parton reads the part of of Ruthanna, which I loved. My only disappointment in the audiobook is that I was hoping that when there were lyrics that the voice actors, especially Dolly Parton, would sing the lyrics rather than just reading them. That being said, I plan on listening to the album- Dolly Parton sings all the songs from the book, which I am very excited about.

This book is a bit different than most Patterson books- it was about 60% AnnieLee Keyes' journey to becoming a country singer, 30% mystery/thriller, and 10% romance. I enjoyed it though, and it's definitely a quick read. Ruthanna was definitely my favorite character, a good chunk because Dolly Parton read her (and the character is obviously based on her). She really gave an extra something to the character that made her more entertaining.
