I have always been a huge fan of James Patterson, so when I saw he was tea.ing up with Country Legen, Dolly Parton, I was beyond excited! I could not put it down! I highly recommend this book. Just like James Patterson's other books, this does disappoint, and collaborating with Dolly Parton was a huge added bonus!!

I love Dolly but I didn’t love this book, unfortunately. The main character was unlikely and unlikable. When she stole a semi truck because the driver was predatory at the start of the book it already felt so ridiculous. The book felt formulaic and like a soap opera. It’s a shame such big names couldn’t stretch a little more but I’m sure it will be a big hit nonetheless.

I looooove Dolly Parton so this one was a must read for me. It was such a nice treat. I wish I had gotten the audiobook version too. It had great character development. I think HelloSunshine is adapting to the screens. I’m so looking forward to that.

I received this ARC for an honest review. I was excited to read this story, but I didn’t connect with it. Even though the writing was well done, it couldn’t keep my attention. My daughter read it and she’s 20 really enjoyed it.
For me everything went too perfect for the heroine AnnieLee. I’m not explaining more because I want you to judge yourself.
Like I said, I didn’t connect but that doesn’t mean you won’t. Give it a try. My daughter liked it.

This book started out nowhere near how I pictured it would. For some reason I'm getting Daisy Jones and the six vibes. Although I do love it so much there's some moments that made me cringe. However this does jump on the dangers of being a female hitchhiker. Based on the cover I got the running away vibe but I didn't get a "good musician" vibe. If that makes sense. I love any and all of james pattersons books and the fact that he partnered with dear ild Aunt Dolly I just knew I had to pick this up. I'm so glad I did. This book will put you through all the emotions like a cilleen hoover book does, fair warning. Definitely unputdownable, and definitely worth a try.

It’s an easy, enjoyable read with a down-to-earth main character. Run, Rose, Run is available everywhere.

I read audio and print together. Audio is missing some dialogue and has a handful of things mixed up from the final text, but still a fun "read-along" experience.

Okay - so I had high hopes when I saw that Dolly Parton and James Patterson were writing a book together. I sat down and started reading Run Rose Run and wondered who AnnieLee Keyes was. We were given a glimpse of Ethan's background in the beginning and he was a stand-up guy. He helped Ruthanna and enjoyed being part of her basement band. When he stumbles upon AnnieLee he was amazed at how well she could sing. He also liked how pretty she was. AnnieLee, for the most part, was kind of unlikable. She was brash, seemed inconsiderate and didn't tell the truth to those who were trying to help her. The thriller parts of this book were interesting at first, but then didn't really make sense at the end. AnnieLee was pretty passive in going after those who had wronged her. I couldn't understand why someone who was on the run wouldn't have thought that her picture being splashed all over the place might have given her away. The reasoning behind the beatings was kind of eyerolling since she could easily have told Ethan what was really going on and he would have done his best to put a stop to it. What happened to AnnieLee in her past was traumatic, but I didn't understand why she didn't confide in those who were really trying to help her. I guess it didn't come across as her being street-smart, but just a simple girl who couldn't think too far into the future. I was hoping for a bit more out of the plot than I got.

This book definitely has Dolly Parton written all over it! AnnieLee Keys has to be Dolly in her younger days-the struggles of trying to get discovered and do what you are passionate about. I believe this book accurately portrays what young artists go through. Dolly's charm shines through AnnieLee. I will definitely be recommending this book to others. Another Patterson/Parton collaboration would be awesome!

This was a fun read. I love a good mystery. James Patterson never disappoints. I love that Dolly Parton was involved on this one too! I also listened to it on audiobook and I would highly recommEnd that too!

I wanted to like this book. I really did.
I love me some Dolly, and I have been known to read a Patterson book or thirty in my time.
But this one? Just a no from me. Maybe it would have been better as an audiobook? I am not sure.
AnnieLee is a nobody, coming on the scene in Nashville in the hopes of making it big as a star. She has a voice like an angel but a shadowy past.
I feel like this book was just kind of a jumble of cheesy soap opera combined with song lyrics and a sprinkling of thriller, but not really.
AnnieLee "makes it" FAR too easily. There's literally no struggle to break into the music world, and some of the "thriller" elements are just too much. Stealing a semi from a random truck driver? We can do better than that.
Then there's the whole Ethan backstory which isn't much of one, since there really is zero explanation as to why the things that happened to him actually happened to him.
All in all this story had potential but it just fell flat.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this book via NetGalley, but it just was not a win for me.

I've been a lifelong fan of Dolly Parton and was so excited to hear about this novel that she had written with James Patterson.

Run, Rose, Run is just exactly what I would expect from Dolly Parton, and I do have high expectations. You feel completely immersed in the country music world as you watch Annie Lee navigate the country music business. And of course, Ruth Anna reminds me of Dolly herself as she helps to mold the new singer. I listened to the audio book while I was reading the novel, and it really added to my appreciation of the book. Dolly Parton narrates the voice of country music icon Ruth Anna and Kelsea Ballerini provides the voice for Annie Lee. There is a real depth to the novel outside of the glimpse into the country music world that gives the book a greater meaning.

I thoroughly enjoyed Run, Rose, Run and hope Dolly has more novels in the works.

I've read a lot of James Patterson's books and sort of gave up for awhile, until this one came out. I absolutely love Dolly Parton, and I love that there is mentor figure similar to Ms. Parton in the book. The mystery is a little forced, but I enjoyed how a singer writes songs (lyrics included in the content), is mentored, and becomes famous. I will read anything Dolly Parton puts her name to.

James Patterson collaborates with a lot of authors to create the amount of books he writes each year but collaborating with Dolly Parton was a real treat. Dolly is well known for the songs she writes and she can write a pretty good page turner too. They tell you to write what you know and this book is Dolly Parton. We are introduced to Ruthanna Ryder a country singer of a certain age. She hasn't be on the stage in a while and people aren't sure she will ever return. Enter AnnieLee Keyes a young girl with dreams of becoming a country star. What happens when these two come together? Does Ruthanna see something in AnnieLee that reminds her of someone? And of course we have to have the handsome Ethan Blake who works for Ruthanna and is quite taken but AnnieLee. This has all the makings of a great movie.
I hope Patterson and Parton team up again for another great story.

I haven’t read a Patterson book in many years, but when I saw Dolly Parton was a co-writer I jumped at the chance to read this book. I was glad I did, I loved the Nashville setting and the references to country artists and songs. AnnieLee is a great main character and I loved how she took peoples’ advice and reinvented herself. Ruthanna is obviously and effectively modeled on Dolly Parton and was also a great character. If you want a music-filled book with great characters you will love this, but if you read this book expecting a full on thriller, you might be disappointed because the excitement only happens near the end.

Unpredictable and dark is how I would describe Run Rose Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. It took me some time to get into the story, and I think that the short chapters helped me keep going. The story focuses on a young woman, with a mysterious past, who has made her way to Nashville and who through luck and some ingenuity on her part, becomes connected with a Nashville legend, who takes her under her wing and helps her to develop her career. When reading I envisioned Ruthanna’s character to be Dolly herself!

A James Patterson and Dolly Parton creation. I felt it was mostly Dolly's writing. I wish I could have gotten the audio version as it would definitely be better. I agree with others that it would make a decent movie. It was not full of mystery and plots but I did find myself liking the three main characters. It reads easy and a bit slow but recovers further into the book. So I recommend the audio version. Thank you NetGalley and publishers Little Brown and Co. This is my opinion given freely.

Run, Rose, Run, can’t help but be about a young woman running from a hard life, to hitch her star to the sky in Nashville, Tennessee. Written by James Patterson and Dolly Parton, this book about AnnieLee’s dream, becomes a dream in my heart for her as well.
AnnieLee meets several people along the way the way that help her. Then there’s always a guy on music row waiting to take advantage of a young woman with talent and someone trying to derail the success.
I couldn’t help but pull for AnnieLee or whatever her real name was. She was running away from something or someone and holding fast to her shining star for Nashville.

I enjoyed reading this unlikely collaboration between a much-loved entertainer and a world renown author. The writing is classic Parton and Patterson, which makes it a truly enjoyable read.

I have to say that I would read anything that Dolly writes. We technically I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Dolly and a full cast. I love full cast audiobooks every main character gets its own narrator which adds to the story. And even though it's also written by James Patterson it doesn't read like a James Patterson it reads like what I think a fiction book written by Dolly would read like. Annielee was my favorite character though Ruthanna Ryder was a close second as the retired Country queen, Ruthanna's character reminded me so much of Dolly and I can't help but wonder if Dolly did that for a reason. And of course any good country story like any good country love song needs a hero, enter Ethan Blake the Army Captain turned songwriter. The book does start out a little on the slow side but quickly picks up.



Run, Rose, Run has been optioned for a movie and that's something I'm looking forward to, and to me there's only one person who could play Ruthanna Ryder and that's Dolly herself.
