Run Rose Run is a fast paced, don't talk to me I am reading book,

The collaboration between James Patterson and Dolly Parton does not disappoint.

I also bought the album to go with the book or does the book go with music.

I can't wait for the movie to be made with Dolly .

Pick up your copy , you wont be disappointed: the pace starts from page one and never lets go.

Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown & Company for a very enjoyable read.

I have read a lot of James Patterson's books. This is one of his best. Co-written by country music legend Dolly Parton, it is the story of a young woman who finds her way to Nashville. She is destitute when she meets the country music legend who is an aging star much like Dolly, The star takes her under her wing but the young singer has a past that haunts her. Of course, there is a guitar-playing love interest who protects her. It is a good story and well told. The characters are interesting, and the plot is one that you will want to read until the end. Thanks to Dolly and James for a good book. Thanks to @RunRoseRun#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love Dolly Parton and I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately I really disliked the writing style. I also found a lot of the plot points trite and cliche. I was disappointed and ended up not finishing the book.

Great collaboration between Dolly Parton and Jane's Patterson. This book was an enjoyable, quick read and would make a great movie with a great soundtrack. Definitely not your typical Patterson book, but has its twists.

Picked this up because of Dolly Parton, but not even my love of the singer could save this book. There wasn’t any heart in the book. The plot was weak with lots of holes.

I read this book when it was released in March 2022. I don’t recommend it. I expected more from a collaboration between Dolly Parton and James Patterson than this mostly formulaic novel about a young country singer who, fleeing a difficult past, has the great good fortune to be noticed by country legend RuthAnna (aka Dolly). So there’s the expected rise to stardom / screwup / back to stardom thread. Then there’s the girl meets boy, problems ensue, they end up together storyline. And then there’s the thriller part that Patterson no doubt called in. I was very disappointed by this book and the only reason it’s getting two stars is that the full cast recording was expertly read, including by Dolly / RuthAnna, whom I adore.

As AnnieLee’s rocket-ride to fame intensifies, we see that all three of our protagonists are hiding major secrets, and in AnnieLee’s case, those secrets come in the form of a deadly threat.

I liked this book alot. It was easy to follow and towards the end you really couldn't put it down. There are times when you can just hear Dolly's voice and influence while reading. I love the lyrics that are sprinkled throughout the book. Not to mention there is a soundtrack that coincides with the book!! My only criticism is that not only did I want more character development. It wasn’t clear why AnnieLee hid everything from those around her when they could have helped. Also I wanted to know what happened to her sisters and more of a sense of one happened after (other than the brief final chapter). Maybe a sequel?
Definitely worth the read. This is my first book by both authors and definitely won’t be my last! 3,5 rounded up.

I found the story line to be far fetched. However Dolly Parton’s spunk and enthusiasm shines through the prose.
Very easy & fast read, if you enjoy simple plots.

Who doesn’t love James Patterson and Dolly Parton? A great combination of a fast, fun read along set to music. You can see Dolly’s contribution throughout the entire read. As much as I enjoyed the book, i thought the ending was somewhat underdeveloped. No big surprises as it abruptly ended.

Not a huge fan of James Patterson but I knew I had to read this one when I found out Dolly Parton was going to be part of it! I really enjoyed it! The writing was fast paced and the story kept me interested the entire time.

I have always been a big fan of James Patterson's solo work, but I will admit that I have not been super impressed with most of his collaborative work thus far, but when I saw he wrote a book with Dolly Parton I knew I would have to read it. I really enjoyed the characters and the country music flair of the story line. I felt that the typical James Patterson mystery and suspense could have been taken up just a notch though. I liked that the song book of the 3 country singers was included at the end of the book. If you like country music you will probably enjoy Run, Rose, Run.

I love Dolly Parton and I’ve enjoyed many of James Patterson’s books but this one just wasn’t for me. I couldn’t get into the character’s lives and the story didn’t seem believable to me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Cross a thriller writer with an icon in country music and the result is the emotional highs and lows of a country song. Escape. Deeply hidden secrets. Ambition. Fear. Love. Country music and thrillers have these in common and they come together in this book.

Another great book by James Patterson and Dolly Parton! Love this story, taking place in the heart of Country Music, Nashville, about an up and coming country music star mentored by a legend in the music business. You become immersed in the lives of the characters, and how they come together to create this story of heartbreak and success, in America’s beloved institution of Country Music! Wish the story went further, did not want it to end yet! Maybe there was a too big of a gap in the story at the end?

Pretty twenty-five year old AnnieLee Keyes is in Nashville hoping to break into the big time as a country singer. She is sleeping rough, playing for free in bars, hoping to meet someone who will give her a big break. She meets Ethan Blake, a singer/songwriter who has not desire to make it big, but is friends with retired country legend Ruthanna Ryder. He convinces Ruthanna to come and hear her sing and eventually, she takes her under her wing, gets her an honest agent and helps her to move forward in a way that won't exploit her. But, AnnieLee has secrets, secrets that could hurt her and those she cares about. Ethan also has secrets, but as he begins to care about AnnieLee, he want to get her to open up. He shares his past with her, but AnnieLee still holds back. Can he protect her, if he doesn't know what or who he is protecting her from.

I really enjoyed this story. Yes, I am a huge Dolly Parton fan, so I may be a bit biased, but once I started to listen to this book, I couldn't stop. AnnieLee is a great character. She is feisty, tenacious, talented, caring and scared. She wants to make it big and has so much talent. She is not only a singer, but a songwriter, who can put out lyrics at the drop of a hat. Ethan is a swoon worthy hero, who wants to keep AnnieLee safe, but isn't sure if he can without knowing what he is protecting her from. He is willing to risk his own safety for that. I have to say, I loved the Ruthanna character. She is voiced by Dolly and I could envision her in the role of mentor. Many readers complained about the information about the recording business and all the issues with the Music Scene, but I loved how this all developed with AnnieLee in the mix. As is usual in James Patterson's books, the chapters are short and that moves the book along quickly, even if parts are slow. When we find out what AnnieLee is hiding, the title of the book makes total sense. I liked when the singers performed and there were lyrics in the books hinting at the songs. The end of the book included a Songbook with all the songs referred to in the book. Dolly Parton put out an album in March 2022 with the songs from the story and I was able to listen to the album while singing along, which was fun.

An enjoyable book of blending the mystery writing of James Patterson and the fun life of Dolly Parton.

You could just picture Dolly as Rose, a young girl who sets her goals on becoming a country music star. You do not want to miss reading this book.

Thanks to Little Brown and Company publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys these two people who have combined their excellent talents.

It was an enjoyable read and had a few high points about the music industry that made me chuckle - the women's movement and the salad parts where spot on.

The basic story is poor, runaway girl steals an 18-wheeler and rolls into Nashville with nothing but her dreams and a backpack. That's the start of a country song if I ever heard one! She finds her way to the bar district and sweet talks a bar tender into letting her sing and so she's discovered by the retired "queen of country music". But she's got a secret and it's haunting her even in Nashville.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

Ok.
We all know that James Patterson can write an entertaining mystery. That said, I didn’t get the real suspense feel in this story.
BUT
The behind-the-scenes look at the country music industry, and particularly women in the country music industry, that was VERY well done. In fact, it grabbed me so hard, I couldn’t stop reading!

Mystery 3 stars
Glimpse behind the curtain 5 stars

Great read- both to have in person to hold and read and also audio. I love anything Dolly and mixing it with James Patterson’s creativeness is a winning combination. Would love to see this book come to life in a movie.
