I really enjoyed this second book in the Peach Coast Library mystery series. Marvey Harris is settling in to her new life. She loves her small home, her job at the Library , her colleagues and her friends. She has some new fundraising plans and with her kickoff a success everything is right in her world, until while cleaning up after the party, she finds a list with four names on it, one of the people had just died under mysterious conditions and when a second is killed after the kickoff party Marvey starts to panic as one of the names left on the list is her good friend Spence and she is determined no harm will come to him.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Peach Coast Library series. As with many cozies, we get to meet more characters and learn more about the ones already introduced in the series. It was so nice to see Marvey again and watch her investigate another crime. The romance is steaming up a bit (very very slow burn). Fingers crossed for book three soon.

Murder Mysteries is my game! Although this fun easy read was great....I did have a little hard following. I did not realize there were two other books prior to this read. However, I still enjoyed this great read. Thank you to the publishers and the author who let me read this wonderful murder mystery. :)

"Murder Out of Character" by Olivia Matthews is a delightful mystery that takes place in the charming Peach Coast, Georgia. Marvey, the New York transplant and librarian, is finding her footing in her new home and job. However, her comfortable life takes a turn when she discovers a list of names at a library fundraising event. This book is a page-turner filled with suspense, humor, and a dash of romance. The author does an excellent job of introducing new readers to the series, while also providing a fresh and exciting story for fans of the first book. Matthews' writing is captivating, and the characters are well-developed, making it easy to root for Marvey and her intrepid librarian friends as they work to stop the killer.

Marvey is fairly new to Peach Coast, Georgia. There is a bit of acclimation needed for a New Yorker, but she loves her new home and friends. After a fund raising galg for the library, Marvey finds a list. There are 4 names on the list. One person on the list has died and another soon follows. Her friend Spence is on the list. Marvey is convinced this is a hit list and that the first two people on the list were murdered. Spence thinks she is going overboard but agrees to go with her to speak to the police. Marvey knows that people think she is being extreme, but she is bound and determined to protect Spence and the other person on the list.

This is a fun cozy. It moves a little slow, but is easy-to-read and entertaining.

I just couldn't get interested...far too many characters to follow and not a great storyline. I was disappointed for all of the hype.

The name of a victim on a list of names
Featured in national publications such as Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Library Journal, and others, Patricia Sargeant, a best-selling, award-winning author, writes mysteries as Olivia Matthews and romance under her own name. She is presenting "Murder Out of Character", the second mystery novel in the "Peach Coast Library Mystery" series, published by Hallmark Publishing. Librarian Marcella Harris (Marvey), director of community engagement with the Peach Coast Library, a renovated bus depot, in Peach Coast, Georgia, has helped to solve a murder in her home town. Now they are launching the fund-raising season with the first Summer Solicitation Drive Cocktail for which the library assistant Adrian Hobbs is responsible. Although people mingle there is a somber and thoughtful vibe in the room because Hank Figg, high school basketball coach, had been found dead in his house two evenings earlier, having been dead for at least seventy-two hours. What is the reason for the list of four names which Marvey finds at the fund-raiser? Then Nelle Kenton whose name is also on the list is found dead. Will Marvey be able to help to find the murderer?
This was the second book by this author which I read and I am looking forward to other books by her. I appreciated the engaging and well-developed story-line of this mystery with its likeable and believable characters. I highly recommend this book to readers who love easy to read mystery. As a special treat the book offers a Hallmark Original Recipe for "Anna May’s Southern Style Pralines".
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
