Rick Myers is leading a troop through Africa when one of them gets injured in a fire fight when he stumbles upon Dr. Cynthia Myers Little Village she isn’t happy about it nor is she happy about the way he bosses everyone around. But when all she knows cannot keep a war Lord‘s son alive and he comes after her Rick saves her life in a bowl she tries to keep her distance her heart isn’t letting her. I love Holly Bridgeman‘s books I love the authentic Ness of the book the way God always plays a role but I really never had issue with any of her books but I didn’t like the way Cynthia was so conflicted about Rick having to kill those who were trying to kill her. Maya Angelou said you need to meet people where they are in these people we’re out for violence having said that I love the book and can’t wait to read the next one which is already out… So excited! I received this book from the author and NetGalleyShelf but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Starts out strong:
There was plenty of tension, action and danger in the first part of the book that kept me on the edge however everything seemed to dwindle a bit in the latter part. I had become more invested in the characters lives by that stage so was curious to see how things would pan out.
I enjoyed the romance between Cynthia and Rick which felt authentic and true. I also loved that there was a strong Christian message throughout and faith was an integral part of the characters lives.
Overall it was an enjoyable story and I'd interested in discovering more about the rest of the characters in the team.

Honor Bound
Hallee Bridgeman
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After experiencing public humiliation and a broken engagement, Dr. Cynthia Myers flees Washington D.C. to become a medical missionary in Africa. There she finds meaning and purpose that had been missing in the political circles she grew up in. However, the peaceful life she's built in her small village is upended when she fails to save the life of a local warlord's wounded son.

Captain Rick Norton of the Army Special Forces A-Team and his team enter Cynthia's village just in time to save her life and become targets of the warlord themselves. With two team members seriously injured and rebels pursuing, Rick will have to use all of his strength and skill to get his team and Cynthia out alive.

Hallee Bridgeman creates tension between her two main characters in the first book of her Love and Honor series. What should the Christian response be to deadly force? Opposing views directing life choices are held by a medical missionary and a Green Beret US Army Special Forces captain. They are bound together through a harrowing escape with non-stop action in the African jungle. The book is threaded with a high volume of military jargon, and while it does cause some difficulty, it also lends authenticity. Bridgeman aptly named her book. Above all, this book conveys the honor possessed by our servicemen and the sacrifices they willingly make because of their love of God and country.

We received an advance copy from the publisher. This is our honest review.

Honor Bound is the perfect blend of romance, suspense, and military thriller all rolled into one! I loved the inside look at how a Special Forces team operates - the action, camaraderie, and dry wit shine with the author's writing style. Rick and Cynthia seem like an unlikely pair at first, as they don't see eye to eye on when violence is appropriate, but they both grow to respect and appreciate the other's perspective. The fast-paced plot and compelling characters make this a book that fans of Dee Henderson and Ronie Kendig will love! I can't wait to read the rest of the series and Hallee Bridgeman's backlist!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved the suspense, action and romance in this new series. I loved Cynthia and Rick. I am looking forward to getting to know the other team members that work with Rick in the next books of the series. I enjoyed the descriptions that were used for the areas of Africa that Cynthia was based in. I loved how fast paced the book was. I received a copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Rating 4.5

This story was a captivating, nail-biting, fast paced suspense! loved the team, their interactions, and their jokes.

We have briefly met the team in the Novella, Love in Any Language, so it was easier to follow them in book one. And even though we do not have all the history of the team, I could just feel the connection, love, and respect they have for each other and felt their fear that those injured will not make it out of the jungle.

The action scenes were executed well, taking you right there along with the characters and the deeper character development was strong.

I loved one scene where Cynthia spoke to her dad about her critical viewpoint wrt Rick’s job, and I just loved her dad’s advice! Go read it! But we all sometimes fall into the trap, wanting to change things we do not like, instead of accepting it as God’s plan.

I did not want to stop reading, because I wanted to see how everything unfolded.

Fans of Ronie Kendig’s military suspense would love this book.

I am so glad the next book releases in October, because I need to find out who Bill Sanders is!

Following a public humiliation by her fiancee', Dr. Cynthia Meyers is practicing obstetrics in a war-torn Africa country. Here, she finds fulfillment in knowing that she is helping villagers bring their babies into the world. Some women travel for days to get to Dr. Meyers. Such a change from her life of wealth and privilege. Now, her father is the Vice President of the United States.
Men break into their village with a warlord's son who is fatally wounded. Cynthia was unable to save his life.
The Army Special Forces team were on a mission to capture the warlord and arrive on the scene and saved the lives of the villagers. Unfortunately, that required killing the warlord's men who were there to do harm. Cynthia is very much opposed to violence and this creates tension between her and Captain Rick Norton. While grateful they saved her life and the lives of others, she abhors taking lives.
The mission turned to getting Cynthia safely out of Africa due to the warlord's threat against her for not saving the life of his son. As you can imagine, Cynthia was very upset about this change in plans. She wanted to stay and do her work. She's very much against going back to the posh life-can't imagine how she can even do that now.
There is intense action in the team getting themselves and her out safely. Be ready for heart pounding action!
Cynthia and Rick's relationship slowly begins to turn into something else. I really liked how that played out in the story.
Great characters!
I was given an advanced e-copy by the publisher, Revell through Netgalley and was under no obligation to write a positive review.

Hailee Bridgeman has written a stunning novel! Honor Bound is suspenseful, thrilling, riveting and emotional. Drawing from her personal experience of growing up in a US military family, Bridgeman writes with a depth of understanding that helps her readers engage in the journey of her characters.

Cynthia Myers is a heart broken American doctor who is seeking to rediscover peace and purpose for her life in the jungle. She left the fast paced life of Washington, DC to embark on mission work, delivering babies and health care to women in remote villages of a lush, jungle nation. She soon finds herself in the middle of a violent stand off between US soldiers and the national warlord, neither of whom were invited into her village.. As she struggles to make sense of it all, she is unwillingly caught up in the tumultuous world of war around her and within her own heart. When she is rescued by a US Special Forces group on a mission to bring peace and take down the enemy, she is transported into the very world she fought to leave and she is forced to face the reality of her calling, her life, and her love.

Honor Bound is honest and raw. It has the perfect combination of love and war. If you have faced the very real questions about your calling and purpose in life, you will be able to identify with the characters in this book. There is a tension between the need for violence to bring peace, and the need for peace to ward off any violence; there is a tension between doing what you feel called to do and doing what you love to do. Could they be the same thing? And could the people you love be along for the journey? Bridgeman does a masterful job at weaving in scripture, prayer, and God's ultimate purpose for His creation, as her characters struggle with these same questions.

I look forward to reading the other books in the series!

Thank you to Graf-Martin Communications and Baker Publishing Group for the opportunity to independently review this title.

WOW isn’t strong enough. Pacifists such as Dr. Cynthia Myers can only exist because of soldiers like Captain Rick Norton. Unfortunately evil exists and Hallee Bridgeman does a wonderful job of showing what happens when these three ideals meet. I loved that the natives understood the necessity and role of men and women such as Captain Norton and his team. I cried, laughed and loved while reading this book. I can’t wait until the next one.

I have loved all of Hallee Bridgeman's books, but for some reason, I had a hard time getting into this one. It looks like a lot of people loved it, though. I think it is worth trying, at least. I do recommend Hallee Bridgeman, as an author, and all of her other books!

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

A page turning read with compelling characters and a plot that pulled me in from the very beginning.

One of the best books I've read in a long time, and I instantly added the rest of the series to my TBR. Dr. Cynthia Meyers left her high pressure life to go to the mission field in Africa, but when helping others puts her in the line of fire she finds her beliefs challenged by an unlikely ally.

Capt. Rick Norton is part of the Army Special Forces sent to ease tensions with an African warlord. Skilled in what he does, he is determined to see them out of the foreign conflict alive. I loved the interaction between Cynthia and Rick as they get to know each other, to see past their initially opposing views.

Overall this was an amazing read, I was captivated by the realistic characters, riveting plot, and authentic faith woven throughout the story. You won't want to miss this one!

Dr. Cynthia Myers is a missionary medical doctor in a war-torn African country. She is there because her fiancé publicly humiliated her. What makes it worse is that her father is the newly appointed vice-president of the United States. A band of terrorists invade the village she is at demanding she save the life of the mortally wounded war loads son. In comes Army Special Forces Captain Rick Norton. He has to use deadly force to save Cynthia's life. She's a pacifist so she didn't appreciate his interference. Rick demands that she leave with him because the rest of the terrorists after her because they know who she is. This book is their journey to safety.

The first part of the book is action packed with lots of twists and turns as Cynthia and Rick and his team try to get out of Africa. Once they got to safety it seems like the action dwindled. It was still a good book. But I would like to have had action in all the book. Cynthia and Rick are both strong willed people with strong opinions and aren't afraid to vocalize those opinions. Of course in the end they come to respect each others point of views and fall in love.

I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

This book starts out somewhat violently. But not a lot of gore. The rest of the novel has a lot of suspense The story line is interesting and gives insight into life in Africa. It is a good read and is independent of others in the series, but will add enjoyment to the rest in the series if you read this one first.

Can a pacifist doctor and an army special forces really make it in this world? Only GOD can help.
This book was total action upto about 3/4 of the way through. Then it started on the romance part. I really enjoyed the book and was super glad she thoroughly inserted bible verses into the book. The way she did it makes it a true Christian novel. Not just someone trying to look like its Christian and capitalize on that market.
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.

What a book! Bridgeman has certainly written a winner in this book. I love the mixture of suspense, drama and romance filled with faith. What dynamic characters and their intensity of the action scenes would keep you reading when duty would call otherwise. A book you will find hard to put down. A conflict of interest and duty in the main characters. Dr. Cynthia Myers is a medical missionary in a war ravaged country in Africa. She abhors violence of any kind. She is there to save lives of those who need her help. Captain Rick Morton is a part of a special forces team from the United States Army working to bring peace to the area by capturing the local Warlord. Thus they immediately are at odds with one another. Dr. Myers is a healer of life and she feels Captain Morton only takes lives. Of course their wills clash in what they truly believe is their calling, she to save all life and he to do what he must do, even to the taking of a life. How they interact when they both return to the states is a most interesting read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I am looking forward to the next two books in this series. Definitely a 5 star read…..Thank you, NetGalley and Revell, for the chance to read this riveting story. All opinions are my own.

Hallee is a new author to me. She did a fabulous job with her characters and keeping it real. I fell in love with Rick and Cynthia and can’t wait to read her next book!!

All Dr. Cynthia wants is to help African women deliver healthy babies. But there is a warlord who wants to take over the government & be in charge. Rick & his group of special forces are in the country looking to stop the warlord & defeat his group of mercenaries. But the situation doesn't turn out the way either person anticipated. When Cynthia's father demands she return to the states, will she & Rick be able to develop a relationship or are their professions too far apart to work? I enjoyed this adventure & a look into the difficulties of special forces. I received a copy from NetGallery. This is my voluntary review.

I just finished this book and can take a deep breath and slow my pounding heart. This author really can keep you caught up in her descriptive narrative! Medical missionary Dr. Cynthia Myers narrowly escapes with her life, along with 2 of her patients, due to Captain Rick Norton and his Army Special Forces team, since a powerful warlord whose injured son could not be saved is angered. Cynthia hates the violence that Rick knows how to use to help the innocent African villagers. Will the two be able to look deeper, to even like each other?
I appreciated this inscription in the book from Romans 12:10 to, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." I see how it influenced the title and story.
I appreciate being able to read this book, compliments of Revell/Baker Publishing Group. My expressed thoughts are my own.

This wonderful, thought provoking, action packed, clean Christian romance was the first story I have read by this author, and I now have become a fan.
She presents two mature individuals, one a warrior and the other a healer. Dr. Cynthia Myers, daughter of the VP of the USA , is working in a village in a foreign country surrounded by a warlock and Army Special Forces Capt. Rick Norton, is there with his team to help eliminate the threat.
These characters clash from the moment they meant, but soldiers are injured and everything becomes a life or death situation.
Feelings develop, but can they put their differences aside? Can they try to understand the other? Will their faith and dedication help them find a new life together?
I can’t wait to see what else this talented author has in store for us.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
