To be perfectly honest when I started reading this one, I really wasn't sure if I wanted to continue. It felt very military heavy... and while I tend to read a lot of books featuring military characters, it tends to focus less on their actual missions than what this one seemed to at the start. I may be a military spouse, but I don't tend to prefer 'war stories' which I feared this would turn out to be. But I read on, and am so glad that I did. Yes, there was definitely a big emphasis on the mission early on, but it was written in a way that actually drew me in after some time. After the first half of the book or so, it balanced out a bit more to my liking. I found by the end I was really enjoying ever minute of it. I loved the romance between Cynthia and Rick... their chemistry was great. I also enjoyed getting to know the other members of the team, and found that the author did a really great job of setting them up for their future stories... by the time that this one ended, I knew I wanted to read more from the series to see what happened with them... certainly a great introduction to a series.

Despite my initial hesitations, I was so glad that I decided to read this one to the end. It was action packed, heavy in faith and an all around great read! I can't wait to read more!

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Honor Bound by Halee Bridgeman
What a great action pack Christian novel! This is the first book by this author I've read and is definitely not the last.

The beginning of Honor Bound will pull you in from the very beginning where you will never want to put it down. Oh and the characters they are wonderfully written. Cynthia Myer is a missionary doctor who is working in African where a war is raging. Cynthia was needing to leave, because of her father. They send in the Army Special Forces call A-team. The leader of this mission is Captain Rick Norton. Captain Rick is a hard nosed soldier that had a mission to protect Cynthia and his team.

I love seeing how God was with them throughout this book. If I could say one sentence about this book it would be "No matter your situation God is in control."

I would recommend reading this book in the first book in this series.

After being publicly humiliated by her fiancé, Cynthia finds her place - and a new peace - in a secluded African village, doctoring the villagers. But the country is in the middle of a war, and when it reaches her peaceful village and she is unable to save the life of the rebel leader's son, she becomes a pawn in a bigger game than she's prepared for. The last thing Rick wanted was to be distracted from his main mission of taking down the rebel leader to have to save a woman who he initially thinks little of due to her family connections. And the fact that their attitudes to the taking of life are poles apart doesn't help. Can they learn to work together to escape the perils that surround them? And what of the unwanted and impossible attraction between them?

A great romantic suspense story - the characters have a lot to deal with, plenty of baggage to work through, supporting characters that help bring things to life, and a satisfying ending. I did find Cynthia's dad's attitudes rather irritating, but I enjoyed the way that Rick and Cynthia worked together to deal with problems (well, once they got to that stage). I also appreciated her care for those around her - realistically, I suspect that Rick's attitudes are more normal, but I'd be closer to Cynthia's attitudes, however unpopular. Regardless, I look forward to the next book in the series! Note that this series shares characters but each book is a standalone story. Recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Man oh man, Honor Bound, the first book in the Love and Honor Series by Hallee Bridgeman is one incredible book. This story grabbed me from the first page never letting go until the very end. It is a heart stopping action packed novel that that kept me reading late into the night. A few times in the African setting I found myself holding my breath because of what could happen to these characters.

Honor Bound is romantic suspense with a strong a military, political focus. All that happens feels realistic and authentic. It could be taken front today’s front page as well as the parts not included in the news. Quickly I came to care about the characters and their outcome. One thing I enjoyed most was the strong military personnel who had integrity, honor, and skill to complete the mission given to them. They did not need bad language or other vices as so many movies, TV shows, and other books bestow on the military.

Honor Bound is a well- written Christian novel, and proud of it. However, it is also a thrilling, open look at political complexities, along with a well-developed cast of characters. While this is the first book in the series, it is also the first book I read by this author. I care about these characters so much now I can hardly wait for the next book.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

What an intense read!
A covert military team is sent to Africa to pull out a missionary doctor from the middle of a warlord-occupied territory – the catch? She’s the daughter of the Vice President of the US.
This is the first time I’ve read a romantic suspense read full of details in how these special forces teams operate. The narrative pulled me in right from the first page and kept me glued to the pages until the end, even with all the military lingo. It was a fascinating learning experience that provided an equally fascinating reading experience.
Each character brought the story to life, making me care about what happened to them.
The violence depicted here is reflective of the mission and gives readers an insight as to what happens inside war zones. Cynthia, the heroine, has to reconcile her Christian beliefs with the reality of war and the role of soldiers who keep us safe.
The relationship that the special ops team has with each other is strong and one can see how they truly form a family.
There is violence, shoot-outs, and lots of bloodshed that is appropriate for the story. The aftermath of the mission causes a lot of heartache, emotional struggles and physical debilitations. But there’s a hopeful message threaded throughout the pages, which makes this Christian fiction a thought-provoking read.
I received an ecopy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

I have never heard of Hallee Bridgeman before, but she has my full attention! What a great book! I enjoyed every minute of Honor Bound. I am happy to hear that there are two more books in the series being released this year.

While Cynthia Meyers has been quietly delivering babies in a remote African village, her father became the Vice-President of the United States. She can no longer enjoy her anonymity in this war-torn land. Her path crosses with Captain Rick Norton as his six man team fight off rebels. When two of his men are wounded, Cynthia steps in to save their lives. Rick has been ordered to also get Cynthia out of danger. At first, Rick and Cynthia argue and disagree about everything. But they must put that aside and begin a dangerous journey over land and water to make it out alive.

This book is exciting and fast-paced. It has a lot of action and adventure. The author is very good at describing what's going on and where people are at. There are a lot of characters, so keeping them straight is a challenge at first. But the reader will get used to it. Any fans of military or suspense Christian fiction, will enjoy Honor Bound.

'There is evil in the world and sometimes what protects pacifists are soldiers willing to meet that violence with equal violence.'

Boy howdy, this was a good book! I was immersed completely on the first page. I'd never read a book by Hallee Bridgeman and I was just amazed at how good the writing was. The story line was great and the character development was very well done indeed. I'm always a bit skeptical when choosing a new author's book to read, but I was so not disappointed here.

This author's words grabbed me immediately and just refused to let me go. Her heart-stopping military suspense with a God-honoring spiritual thread was stunning. My family has a large military presence and I am a complete patriot, and this aspect of the book really was amazing. I'm always thankful for those brave men and women who put their all on the line for this great country we live in. It was unputdownable to this reader and I could not wait to get back to it after having to pause for life occasionally. I'm happy to see she has a back list and I can read more of her good work. Well done!

My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley and the Revell Reads program. The opinion here is my own.

YESSS I have a new-to-me author to binge-read! :)

I am astounded that this is my first Hallee Bridgeman book--and it definitely won't be my last. It's action packed, and I'll admit--not one to read before bed, not just because I needed to find out what happened next, but also the subject matter--I had to wind down a bit before falling asleep.

Bridgeman did a great job at bringing both the stateside and foreign locations to life, as well as weaving Christian faith throughout the read. The struggles both main characters dealt with, on a variety of fronts, were believable and thought provoking, and illustrated what many in the armed forces (as well as their loved ones) go through on a daily basis.

Fans of Joel Rosenberg, Susan May Warren, and Dee Henderson will especially enjoy this read.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I usually read historical fiction. But, I decided to branch out and try something different on a whim. Am I glad I did! Honor Bound by Hallee Bridgeman had me hooked from the first page.

The story is unique, the characters well-developed and the settings so vividly rendered that this book plays out like a movie. The characters were natural in their interactions with each other and with their environment. The romance was not forced and felt completely natural. So much so that I cannot wait until the next book.

The faith element throughout the book made this author one of my new favourites. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I received a review copy from Revell through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

A page turning romantic suspense. Lots of action. Quite a bit of violence but no foul language. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

This is book one in the Love and Honor Series, (there is a prequel however), so what a great place to start. Hallee Bridgeman does a great job at developing her characters and her story line. I loved how we get both perspectives of this story, the male and female side. There is a story in a story.
At times I really liked missionary Dr. Cynthia Myer and at times I did not connect with her at all, (just my personal note.) However I loved Captain Rick Norton and did connect with him always. I loved the story line of both Cynthia and Rick. The connection Rick has with his special forces team is amazing. I look forward to hearing more from this group. If you enjoy reading action packed, war/special forces type books you will love this one.

Thank you to Revell and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was a wonderful story of love, protection and giving of yourself to others. Dr. Cynthia Myers has led a privileged life, and she wants to escape that privileged life and give back o those less fortunate. This is how she ends up as a medical missionary in a war ravaged country in Africa. She abhors violence of any kind. Captain Rick Morton is a part of a special forces team from the United States Army working to bring peace to the area by capturing the local warlord. Captain Morton abhors violence against innocent people, but he has to be often use his skills to take lives. Captain Morton and Dr. Myers' paths cross when he has to save her from death when she is unable to save the warlord's son. When the bullets stop flying and there are dead bodies everywhere, Dr. Myers, while appreciative of her life being saved, is upset at the loss of any life. This puts the two of them in the awkward position of starting off on the wrong foot. Dr. Myers is a healer of life, and she feels Captain Morton only takes lives. She is also the daughter of the now-sitting Vice President of the United States, which has put a target on her back. She cares nothing about politics and socializing with the Washington Elite, but due to her circumstances she will have to be properly protected. This book was packed with action from the beginning pages as they fight their way out of the jungle. Dr. Cynthia Myers was a wonderful character in this book as she had an innate desire to help others even at her own peril. She used her skills to help others. I loved Captain Morton and his protective instincts. He was so protective of the men under his command that they nicknamed him "Daddy". I loved the nicknames of the men in the group. I know this is a fictional book, but it will truly make you appreciate our military and what they do daily, even when we do not know about their covert missions. There was a wonderful message of faith in this book as well, and both main characters held firmly to their unwavering faith even in times of peril by praying first. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I am looking forward to the next two books in this series. The characters were well written and engaging. I feel like I could sit down and have a cup of coffee with Dr. Myers. Even if you are not a fan of "military" based books, I highly recommend this book just because it was a great book! I found myself reading in to the late hours, so I could see where this couple would end up. I wish I could give this book more than five stars!!

What a wonderful read

OB Cynthia needed to get away from everything when her fiancé humiliates her in front of the Washington DC elite. Escaping to a small village in Africa to help the local women, she draws closer to God and finds her calling. Until one day they are invaded by a warlord’s men seeking help for the dying warlord’s son. Almost dying herself, she’s saved by an elite team of US soldiers. And the adventure begins.

Green Beret Rick has always felt drawn to the military, and he has thrived. Now the leader of an elite team, he is hunting the warlord that is killing and maiming the locals as well as stealing their boys to become part of his “military.” When his medic is gravely injured, they seek the help of the doctor in a local village, never expecting to face a hostage situation. Can he get everyone out safely? What will it cost some of them?

Honor Bound by Hallee Bridgeman is a military romantic suspense. This is my first book by this author and I will be reading more of her books for sure. The writing draws you in and writes outstanding nail biting scenes.

If Dr Cynthia gets on your nerves in the beginning give her time to grow on you. There are times she comes across as a spoiled brat. But she has a good heart.

Rick was a great hero and I loved him and his team. The author showed both the combat military side and how the adapt when they get stateside. I found some of her military explanations fascinating. She explained in the process of the story as to why they did some of the tactical things.

The suspense was spot on. I would definitely recommend this book especially if you enjoy military suspense.

Violence - it is military suspense; people are shot and some die
Romance - 1

Blockbuster movie released in book format! Bring out the popcorn and lock all your doors because this is edge of your seat stuff! Hallee Bridgeman you are solely responsible for my dirty laundry. What can I say? I could not put the book down to get anything done! That is just how good it is! I love the mixture of suspense, drama and romance filled with faith. Cynthia and Rick had a heck of a ride to find their purpose in life but also to find that special person that loves them for who they are and not for who they want them to be. If you are a suspense lover this is one book you deffinitely cannot miss!

I've been excited about this series since first hearing about it. It took a little bit for me to get used to Bridgeman's writing style, but by halfway I was hooked and loved meeting these characters! She does a great job balancing the good and bad in this story, showing a little of both sides of military life as well as showing how hope and faith can make a world of difference.

This author has done her research for this book. It was enjoyable seeing how much she researched about military lingo. This book is a good one, but it just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with the characters, despite how much I wanted too. There was also some parts that I just couldn't take seriously, but that was just me. I think this book would be great for those who like religious military books.
