I really enjoyed! Great read for the fall and spooky season! Thank you for the opportunity to read and review!

This is a fun and quirky read just right for spooky season on the light side. The characters were likeable but the story unravelled a bit toward the end and got a little messy for me.

This was a really sweet rom-com with spooky aspects, I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Would highly recommend for the spooky season.

A delightful romcom! The characters are well-developed and likeable. The writing was breezy and fun.

I couldn't get on with the characters - which is a me problem, not the writing. 3 stars because i couldn't get into it.

Incredibly fun witch story. It has it all a cast of zany characters, fun settings and fantastical story lines. I am familiar with the author from some of her previous books, and I can tell you she always makes it impossible to put the book down!

This was a totally adorable witchy romance!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (mostly closed door and innuendo, some mention of a frostbitten…part, and one tame open-door scene).

Josh and Essie are completely adorable. I love Essie and her wacky family. The fortune-telling aunt, her mom who’s constantly time-traveling, her midwife/gardener aunt, the relative who cooks…generally well…they all have such well-developed personalities and quirks that I could imagine meeting them on any street in rural England. And Essie? She perseveres through so much…all for love.

Overall, I’d recommend this as a fun spooky season read for anyone!

A really fun read! Romance and witches - what's not to like! I really enjoyed the story line and the characters were very well-written. Recommended.

Looking for a paranormal romcom to get you into the spooky season spirit? Look no further. Essie Winterscale is a witch living on a huge estate. She is surrounded by other witches with a variety of quirky powers (which I absolutely loved). They are protected by a spell which makes people forget they are there. But the new owner of the estate, Josh, does not forget and romance ensues...

I was sort of disappointed reading this book. I went in with high hopes and just felt like nothing was really explained and most of the characters felt undeveloped.

This has such a fun concept and I really like the cover too. A good book to read during spooky season

Hex Appeal really hit the spot. It's perfectly witchy, fun, with some feelings thrown in. Essie and her family live in the Bedham house, which is mysteriously hidden. Josh discovers that he owns the house and property and that the people living there haven't paid taxes in hundreds of years so he seeks the house out only things aren't quite right. This sets a bunch of fun things in motion for both Josh and Essie. Essie needs to bring in winter, Josh remembers more about the house than anyone else has ever. And then Josh's pregnant sister shows up and more things are set in motion.

The house was one of my favorite characters, magical houses are so much fun! I'd love to have one. :)

If you like witchy books on the lighter side I definitely recommend Hex Appeal!

I'm in my witchy era right now. Reading all things witches! So i am sad to say the bar is set very high, and these guys just didn't reach it. Books written in 3rd person are the worst thing! It's like character suicide, how can i even like them if I can't see it from their point of view.

I liked the idea, and thought it was ok. But it wasn't at the top of my list, or even close to the top for a WITCHY book.

I always love a good witchy, feel good book! This book starts off a little slower than I would normally be into, which made it hard to get through at first. However, the characters turned out to be quirky and loveable, including the house. I also really enjoy watching authors world-build magic and this book was no exception. I wouldn't say this book was the best I've ever read, but it hit the right spots at the same time.

Loved this and read in one sitting. Kate Johnson has written a fun, spooky romcom, that is impossible to put down.

Quirky, fun, and atmospheric. This is perfect for some Halloween themed reading, but the romance wasn't all that special .

I love a good witchy romance.. and with a cleaver title? I am in. This book had a great atmosphere, and I really loved how the house had so much personality. There were quirky characters and some really fun elements, however I didn't feel like there was a real connection with Josh and Essie. Overall, the romance left me wanting more. I am interested to see what the author comes out with next and will be checking it out!
