Wow. What a twist! I loved this story and the what-ifs and in-depth exploration of the character. A wonderful read!

I’ve been in a reading slump lately and this boom was the perfect book to rejuvenate my reading.
Davey accidentally dials the wrong number when he’s calling overseas about a job and reaches Hannah by mistake. He explains to her what was going on, she wishes him well with the job interview and the call ends. When he lands the job, he texts to let her know and a long distance friendship begins. Their relationship builds until they are about to meet in person. Then life throws them a huge curveball.
This is told from the prospective of Davey and Hannah, we see how they each handle the situation and life during this time.
The author did a great job of conveying all the emotions and ups and downs of relationships in this book. Now matter what happens to them as a couple, I was always rooting for each of them individually. She also was able to touch on a difficult subject but keep lighthearted elements in the book.

I was lucky to receive an advance copy of The Man I Never Met by Elle Cook from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I absolutely loved this book so much! I wasn't 100% certain going in if this would be a cheesy read but it wasn't. This is the kind of book you pick up and don't put down until you finish it. So cute, great characters and overall a fun read.

This book is everything. I am a sucker for books that touch every fiber of your heart and this one just simply destroyed me and build me back up. I would definitely re read this and keep it near my heart.

Ohhh, I really like this one.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm usually not a fan of soulmate / star-crossed lovers / destiny types stories, but I really, really liked how it was done in this one. An accidental phone call introduces Davey and Hannah and an unexpected diagnosis separates them.

Hannah and Davey's story was so incredibly sweet. Their development as characters felt real and authentic.

Absolutely loved the writing, and I'll definitely be reading more by Elle Cook.

You had me at Hello!

I think we all consider ourselves mood readers to an extent. Lately, I’ve been all about the thrillers, never even considering one of the many romance or contemporary books presently gathering digital dust on my virtual shelf.

Case in point….this book. I wanted to read it but couldn’t find the energy to lose myself in an emotional romance. But when I saw the audio available I thought maybe this is what I need to power through.

And wow! It wasn’t at all what I expected. In fact, it was so much more!

Hannah is living the single life in London. Does she want more? Of course! But for now, she’s perfectly happy with her job and all her delightfully eclectic friends.

One random wrong number is about to change everything for Hannah.

Davey is ready to launch his career in architecture. He has a phone interview with a perspective employer in London. In his nervous excitement he mixes up the phone number and misdials not once, but twice. On the other end of the wrong number is none other than Hannah. Must be destiny.

What starts as a casual friendship over the phone quickly escalates into the possibility of a future as Davey prepares to move to London.

Only he never shows up. No call, no text. Was poor Hannah ghosted? Impossible! Davey was different! Wasn’t he?

From here the book travels down highly emotional and difficult roads I didn’t expect. Initially I was upset with where it was taking me but quickly realized I needed to just sit back, take a deep breath and let the characters take me on their journey.

The audio was outstanding with both narrators really bringing the characters to life! Bravo!

I really liked this book. It was heartbreaking at times but never sad. I love a good story about fate and this lived up to my expectations.

What a cute little romance! I devoured it. Loved the characters even while they (he) were making bad decisions. Loved the friendship with Joan, the older lady next door. It was charming and just what I needed.

Tropes you’ll find here:
-closed door
-long distance
-will they/won’t they
-fate

I had a one issue with it. First, there’s a toxic weight loss and diet/exercise plot line that has internalized fat phobia etc. There are mentions of not eating things so they can fit into a dress, etc. My issue really is that it isn’t really discussed beyond the main character changing her mind to not do those things. I can see that being triggering for people who struggle with that.

Additional content warning: a huge part of this story deals with cancer and I had no idea going in.

WOW - great book that I had a hard time putting down. I've been in a reading funk lately with no book really grabbing my interest but this book snapped me out of it. I devoured it in two days. Well written characters that I cared about with good dialogue and a bit of "spice". Highly recommend.

This has to be one of the most underrated books I have ever read! This story was so much deeper than I thought it was going to be based on the cover. The author did an incredible job depicting the chemistry between Davey and Hannah, definitely a hard thing to do when every interaction is through the phone so hats off to her!

This book covers some very heavy topics in a very realistic, yet beautiful way. I would definitely recommend checking trigger warnings if you are interested in giving this one a shot.

Overall, this is a really great love story about fate, soulmates, and life getting in the way. I highly recommend!

I loved this so much! It was definitely reminiscent of some Beth O'Leary book's I've read in terms of the writing and the romance -- which is a compliment on my end bc I love them too. This had me laughing and crying and swooning and falling in love. Would 100 percent recommend to another reader!

This was heartbreaking, frustrating, sad, and happy all in one. Does one believe in fate is the ultimate question.

When one accidental misdial leads to an unlikely friendship and then something more.

I felt for her when he missed his plane, when she found out he had cancer, I felt for him as he hid behind his diagnosis and faced all the fear of cancer practically alone.

They may be fate, but timing isn’t always on your side. I love how fate continues to work on these two and as they heal individually they are finally in another place they can be together when they cross paths in person.

It was slow in a sense, but I read this in one sitting because I had to know what happened next to every time!

This was a really good book, I always love reading books that have a lot of text, phone, email convos included and this one did not disappoint. It was a lot more emotional than I was expecting, but in a good way. One of my favorite movies is Serendipity and this reminded me of that a bit. I really liked watching the relationship between Hanna and Davey evolve. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.

Hannah picks up a call from an unknown number to find a confused American, Davey, who is trying to reach an office for a job interview. They strike up an unlikely friendship across continents as Davey gets the job and plans his move to London. Texts turn into phone calls and then video calls. Everything is going better than either of them expected until the day when Davey is supposed to move to London and Hannah is stood up at the airport. Everything they had planned for the future comes crashing down as they try to navigate the next year of their lives.

This story started off slow for me, but overall it was a good read. I liked Hannah's character arc throughout the book. This book was very emotional at some points and that made it tough to get through at some parts. I wish there had been just a little more levity, even through the heavy conversations.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballentine for the ARC of The Man I Never Met.

Quick Summary: A happy tears kind of love

My Review: The Man I Never Met by Elle Cook was sooooooo good! I was not expecting all that was presented. From the title alone, I knew it would be a memorable type of story, but I just had no clue how emotionally impacting this story would be.

I feel like I’m fangirling this book, truthfully. I’ve gone from happy smiles because of the meet-cute to heartfelt tears because of the unexpected and unwanted challenges to eye rolls because of George to you name it. This wofi-ro has taken me through some moods and feelings. I loved every minute of it.

My Final Say: 100% YES! (That is all.)

Other: This novel reminded me of Me Before You, as well as Dying Young, in terms of the emotional response it evoked.
