Witcha Gonna Do? is a paranormal romp that’s tons of fun. Avery Flynn kicks off her Witchington series with a romance that’s light on its feet.

Tilda Sherwood is the only non-magical member of a supercharged magical family. She runs her family’s social media accounts and – most recently – has been set up on a number of bad dates with her archnemesis, Gil Connolly. Okay, archnemesis may be a bit strong but things keep going wrong whenever Tilda is around Gil. Then she accidentally curses her family and the only person she can turn to for help is the man she doesn’t want to want as much as she does. Gil has his own reasons for helping Tilda and not all of them are on the up-and-up. But the more their lives become intertwined the harder it is for either Tilda or Gil to remember why they should resist the pull between them.

Tilda is blunt, funny, and likeable, making her a cheerful presence on the page. She may not be able to wield magic, but there’s more to her than her lack of magical abilities. Her family is powerful beyond measure and when she accidentally curses them she has to quickly undo it before others learn of the problem and take advantage of it in order to bring the Sherwoods down. Gil isn’t as open as Tilda but he’s had to be guarded. His magic is the kind that amplifies desire, making him and his family targets of the shadowy Council. Gil has a plan to save his family and doing so puts him in Tilda’s path. I understood why Gil kept his secrets and also why he couldn’t resist Tilda’s charm. I loved watching the two of them work together. The pages of their story flew by because of their energy and I was rooting for their romance every step of the way.

Witcha Gonna Do? introduces readers to the Witchington world, where witches, unicorn shifters, and more are as common as can be. There’s a world of possibility in this witchy universe and I’m very much looking forward to diving deeper in future books. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Tilda and Gil’s tale. It’s full of quirky, magical mayhem and I can’t wait to see what the Sherwood family does next.

Well this one was not what I was expecting, at all. I ended up really liking Tilda, Gil, Birdie, Eli, and even Griselda. For those that like 🔥 factor in your romance, this one won’t disappoint. If you like closed door, this has parts not for you. I like any story that has to do with magic. My inner child will always be a fan of stories that involve that. This one had fun aspects, like the dragon blood tree for one. I liked the idea of where they lived, minus the creepy Council factor.

Witcha Gonna Do? is a cute, fresh new take on a witchy-inspired romance—filled with great laughs, lighthearted fun, and all the magic!

As a member of one of the most powerful lines of witches, Tilda is the black sheep of her family, born without any magic. But when she accidentally curses her family, she must look to the person who gets under her skin the most for help, her infuriatingly handsome nemesis, Gil.

Overall this was a fast-paced read that was exciting, romantic, and had a bit of adventure. It did read a little on the more fun, lighter side for me than slowly building, developing, and integrating the romance and plot, but it was still an enjoyable story with characters that made me chuckle and root for!

If you’re looking for a charming and quick read with some magic and witches, definitely keep this book in mind!

Synopsis⁣
Tilda Sherwood is part of one of the most powerful witch families in the world of Witchingdom. Sadly, she is the least magical member. As an outre, Tilda has NO magical abilities, often making her a target for ridicule in the magical community. Her family does their best to protect her, but even they can't shield her from the judgment she casts on herself. So, when she finds herself in the middle of a magical crisis only she can fix, she must depend on the least likable witch she knows, Gil Connelly. Tilda and Gil's mutual dislike runs deep but not nearly as deep as their undeniable attraction. Will they deny themselves the chance to find love, or will they let their sparks fly?⁣

Musings⁣
Whew! OMG, was this one SPICY!!! I'm not a spice expert, but I know this is one of the most explicit books I've ever read. Spice aside, the witchy world the author creates was highly entertaining and engrossing. I loved the way magic was described in this book, from the individual's powers to the general rules of magic. The heist was less appealing but an essential part of the plot. And the tension between the two love interests was infectious, making this one hard to put down. Will they or won't they is one of the best parts of this book. My chief complaint with Witcha Gonna Do was the style of the narration. It felt a bit juvenile in the beginning, but I stuck with the book. I'm glad that I did in the end, as I'm sure there will be sequels that I will want to read just to re-experience this magical world.

3.75, rounding up for GR.

For me this would have been a solid 4+ read if it wasn’t for the dang characters breaking the 4th wall and talking to the reader.

I didn’t realize I was so passionately annoyed by this until this book! 🤣🙈 in shows or plays it’s usually a quick blip (like, “can you believe this guy!”) and you move on.. but in a book it was constant and so frustrating as it removed me from the story every. single. time.

I applaud the author for trying something and sticking with it, it definitely wasn’t for me though.

With that being said the plot of this story was VERY up my alley!

Witches, lies, secrets, nemesis/lovers, power, romance, steam, humor, it was all there and wrapped in a quirk witchy romance which has been my vibe for 2022!

I was entertained the entire time, the pages flew by, and I listened to the audio as well and it was really well done!

All in all, if you like quirky witch romance books where the MC is more than she seems and the MMC is as charming as he is deceptive, than this one is for you!

Open door- 🔥🔥🔥

Tilda is from one of the most powerful witch families known to all, but sadly that makes life a little harder for her since she doesn’t have any magic herself.

And as if life wasn’t hard enough, she is being investigated by an arch nemesis who’s got some secrets of his own.

If you like world building, magical politics, grumpy-sunshine, lotsssss of tension and a fun inner monologue then this is for you!

3.75/5 ⭐️

I was really excited to read Witcha Gonna Do, and it did not disappoint! I am in love with these characters. I mean, seriously...Avery Flynn did an amazing job with this one!

I went into this book knowing a little about the premise, and I KNEW it sounded right up my alley. What I did not come into the book prepared for was ALL THE STEAM. I found myself getting tied up in the will they/won't they of Tilda and Gil. Of course, I was team will-they all the way! The sexual tension between the main characters is extremely strong, and I especially loved the added element of the magical enhancement. It made their story all the more sexy in my opinion. And again, the steam in this one is serious. It is open door, in your face, and quite frankly, it is HOT. If you're reading this one, you had better buckle up! :)

I also loved the family element to this one. I liked the intricate elements of Tilda's family and its struggle to maintain power, as well as Gil's family struggles in exile I did feel like the lies from Tilda's family were wrapped up too easily, though, and that was part of my reasoning for rating the book four stars. The ending was just a little too easy and perfect IMO. Everything leading up to the ending, though, was absolute perfection!

With the proliferation of "witchy" romance books, I'm sure this will garner a lot of attention, and to cover is truly gorgeous. I ultimately found the writing to be a big let down. I mean that both in terms of the sentence-level prose, as well as the overall world-building and the information we are given about characters. I found myself struggling to fill in gaps that were nonsensically left empty by the author. There are lots of options for witchy romances. This would not be high on my list.

Witcha Gonna Do by Avery Flynn, book one in the Witchington series, is a fun witchy, small town, enemies to lovers romance. Tilda Sherwood is a member of the most powerful family of witches. However, she is a null; having no magical abilities, handling her family’s social media presence. While using a matchmaker, she repeatedly gets set up on dates with Gil Connolly, her nemesis. When she somehow causes her sister’s spell to glitch, she needs to turn to others for help. Gil believed in Tilda; believed she had hidden, magical powers. While helping her group of misfit witches Gil fell for Tilda, despite pretending otherwise.

In typical Flynn style, this enchanting story, set in an imaginary world, filled with magical secret societies and interesting characters is a light and humorous read, alternating points of view between Tilda and Gil. There are unpredictable humorous moments that will endear Tilda and Gil to readers; as they share off the charts, sizzling chemistry and humorous, clever banter. Both Gil and Tilda change and develop as the story progresses; discovering new aspects of themselves. Themes within this story include family, friendship, lies, deception, secrets, resistance, power, romance, and so much more. I recommend Witcha Gonna Do to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I had a little trouble getting into this one but it came together about halfway through. The enemies to lovers trope was well done. I would have enjoyed more information about the witchy world in the book, and especially more background about the FMC’s family, the Sherwoods.
I hope there are more books in this series, I would like to read more.

Thanks to Berkeley Romance for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

The beginning of this book was a little too chaotic for me. I almost gave up. I’m not a fantasy reader, and the world building and magical elements in the opening chapters made my head spin. For me, this was definitely an instance of taking a look at all of the elements, looking in the mirror, and taking one off – Coco Chanel-style.

However, I urge you to stick with it! The relationship between Tilda and Gil and the humor grew on me, and I ended up enjoying it.

There is a lot going on in this book. We're being introduced to this world and the main characters at the same time. I thought it was a pretty strong start to this series, so I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Tilda and Gil have great chemistry, so most of their scenes are fun.

Tilda is a member of one of the most powerful witch families but she has no magical abilities. She's decided it's time to move forward with her life. That means going out on dates but the last three set-ups have been with Gil Connolly. He's so hot but she can't stand him.

Things are frustrating, to say the least until she accidentally makes her sister's spell go array. The spell curses the whole family and she turns to Gil to help her break the spell.

They now have to work together to save her family and keep this whole fiasco quiet from her family's enemies. And fight the attraction growing between them.

Thank you so much to the author and ValentinePR for this ARC to review.

Love, love, love Witcha Gonna Do! The story and the characters had me enchanted right from the beginning!

A touch of fun, a sprinkle of magic and a smattering of romance all make this story a joy to read! I absolutely loved these characters and the magical world this story took us into because how can you go wrong with a seven foot unicorn and a witch who sneezes out her spells? Add in a touch of drama as the opposing families reach confrontation levels and the storyline is complete.

Tilda (Matilda Grace Sherwood) was such an easy character to love. She may come across as the black sheep of the Sherwoods of Virginia, but she is sweet, innocent and has no idea that she holds the powers of a spellbinder.

Gil Connolly may be her nemesis but many lines are crossed between them as he tries to protect her from the truth of who she is and the power she holds. And the truth is, she holds the power to own his heart.

I loved this new book from Avery Flynn. It was so different from her normal contemporaries but also felt familiar with her writing style. I also thought it was unique to do a paranormal RomCom. As an avid reader, that’s not something I had seen before and it worked great. The author built this whole world around a unique concept of witches that hasn’t been seen in paranormal romance. Tilda was so unique and was a hilarious character. She had accepted her lot in life until that lot get upended. Then it’s up to a woman without magic to save everyone. The way she went about it was awesome too. Honestly, the characters were too notched and I’m looking forward to more books in the series.

Imagine you are a non-magical person, born into the most powerful and revered witch family in the world. Now imagine that you are trying to date in said world, but you keep getting set up on blind dates with your magic-wielding nemesis…by your family matchmaker (and godmother) no less! Eventually, you are somehow responsible for a curse that is placed on your entire family (”entire” meaning the extended, far-reaching members as well), and you have to team up with your aforementioned nemesis to save them. Throw in some nefarious secret sects, trolls, magical mushrooms, a very grumpy but lovable unicorn, rescuing people from exile, the best friends anyone could ask for, and a magical heist that is worthy of Nicolas Cage, and you’ve got yourself Witcha Gonna Do?.

Both Tilda and Gil are hilarious and likable characters placed in this incredibly fun, modern magical world that Avery Flynn has created! Let the magic sweep you off your feet, and happy reading!
