This twisty thrilled had me under its spell until the end. I love when the twist blindsides me- what a talented novelist Hepworth is! SO looking forward to her next book. Many thanks!

Having recently finished the previously published ‘The Soulmate’ by Sally Hepworth, I am happy to have had the chance for the Advanced Reader’s Edition e-copy; thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press!

This absorbing story of dysfunction and instability grabs a hold of you at chapter one and does not let go... until the ultimate cliff-hanging reveal of secrets at the end. This was also the perfect title for another entertaining story by Ms. Hepworth!

A compulsively readable, suspenseful story I had a hard time putting down. I loved the alternating chapters between Pippa and Amanda. I think they propelled the story forward even more. The absolute best part was the jaw dropping ending. I mean - wow!

Don’t miss this one if you are a fan of the Sally Hepworth’s books

Many thanks to the publisher for my gifted copy.

3.5 stars

Sally Hepworth knows how to show me a good time. I always enjoy picking up her new novel as I know I’m in for an addictive, page-turning tale of domestic suspense.

And her latest, "The Soulmate," is another solid read. Pippa and Gabe’s story sucked me in from the start, partly because I couldn’t quite fathom how a couple would continue to live in a cottage on a cliff that’s a known suicide spot. Again and again, people show up on the cliff intending to jump, and again and again, Gabe takes it upon himself to talk them down. (Um, why? Why would you accept that responsibility? And also, why would you live there with your children?)

So yes, the premise is a bit illogical because most people wouldn’t do as Pippa and Gabe do, but if you can look past this aspect, the story will then really begin to pick up when Gabe fails to save the latest would-be jumper and Pippa finds herself questioning her husband’s role in the victim’s death.

I enjoyed "The Soulmate" quite a bit, though I’m only giving it 3.5 stars because it’s just not as good as Hepworth’s "The Good Sister." A memorable character like Fern Castle is tough to beat.

My sincerest appreciation to Sally Hepworth, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for the digital review copy. All opinions included herein are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advance release copy of this book!
A wonderful domestic suspense with varying timelines, interwoven stories of couples and little clues of what’s to come sprinkled throughout the story. Just when I thought I had things figured out the author would send me in a new direction. The varying timelines had me a bit confused at first but I was able to pretty quickly catch on to how the story was being told and enjoyed this unique approach.

Pippa, her husband Gabe, and their children can see a cliff that is infamous for people committing suicide from their home window. Gabe has a history of intervening in other’s plans to jump. One day, Gabe rushes to the cliff when he sees a woman, Amanda, standing there but Amanda ultimately plunges to her death. The Soulmate is written from Pippa and Amanda’s alternating and intertwined points of view. It was a well written book and a quick read which will make you question how well you truly know the people closest to you and how far you would go to protect them.

The Soulmate, by Sally Hepworth, was a quick and easy read. While I have enjoyed many of her books, this one was just ok - it was hard to get invested in the characters, and while the plot had drama in the dynamics between characters, it wasn’t overly suspenseful or twisty. Overall, a decent read if you are looking for a domestic drama that doesn’t require a lot of investment to enjoy.

Thrilling, suspenseful and twisty, the Soulmate was a book I couldn’t put down until I was done reading it. The scene of most of the book is a cliff side where many people have chosen to end their lives voluntarily, so it was the perfect set up for a domestic thriller. And it begs that age old question of how well can you really know someone. I’d recommend this one definitely!

I didn't finish this book. I wasn't invested in the characters and was unable to connect with the characters. I am still open to reading more Sally Hepworth in the future, but was not intrigued by this one.

I have come to love every book sally Hepworth puts out. They are unique and easy to get into. This one was no different. This one had me wondering and questioning throughout and even had me shocked by the end. I liked how it ended (that doesn’t always happen in books), but was hurt and angry at the same time!

Not my fave Sally Hepworth. It didn’t have the taut pacing and tense twists that I usually expect from her. But the concept was interesting and the book a quick read.

I loved the start of this book. Pippa and Gabe are able to buy their dream house on the water that overlooks a cliff. They have a happy marriage and two beautiful children. The atmosphere here is perfect, but we know Sally Hepworth and that all will not be as it seems. To start, Pippa realizes the Cliff if used frequently for people to jump to their deaths. This is a bit of a problem, but fortunately Gabe is good at intervening and talks the desperate from jumping. Until, of course he doesn’t. That person is Amanda. It turns out Amanda was his boss’s wife. He also knew Amanda personally. Well….we all keep secrets.

Ultimately, this book just kept me reading. It is more of a psychological examination of commitment, loyalty, and marriage and what that means to both Pippa and also to Amanda. There were many twists and many I didn’t see coming, but the tension was in imagining inside who each person really was and how this would all play out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it. Sally Hepworth is an author that is becoming a favorite of mine. I would recommend this page turner for sure.

Thank you NetGalley, Sally Hepworth, and St. Martin’s Press for a copy of this book. I always leave reviews of books I read.

Interesting story, I liked it.

This book pulled me in immediately! I enjoyed the dual POVs between two women, one dead , one alive. I appreciated that each chapter was short, it made me want to keep reading to see what would happen next. There were so many twists and turns, and I am glad to say I did not see the ending coming.

I feel like I can't say much without giving things away, but I will say that I really enjoyed this mystery/ thriller, and can't wait to read more by Sally Hepworth!

Another hit from the Queen of Domestic Suspense! I flew through this book!

The Soulmate is a character driven domestic suspense that has two POVs: first we have Pipa, wife of Gabe and mom of two little girls who live near the edge of a cliff. Then we have Amanda, the woman who died at the cliff. Pipa has a then and now timeline and Amanda has a before and after death timeline. I found the dual POVs and timelines easy to follow. The characters are well developed; chapters are short and keep you wanting more. The narrative had me captivated with all its twists, some were predictable, some I definitely didn’t see coming but weren’t OTT.

This story explores relationships and the complexities of love and self-discovery. There are some difficult topics addressed throughout this story that I feel Hepworth handled well. Hepworth's thought-provoking writing makes "The Soulmate" a compelling read for fans of emotionally charged domestic suspense, loaded with secrets and betrayals.

Content Warnings: Discussions surrounding suicide, mental illness, adultery, murder and substance abuse and overdose.

Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for my DRC.

First, thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review this ARC with honesty.

This was my first novel by this author and to be honest, I was always saw them and got curious.

I won't bore with a summary as I worry there might be spoilers unintentionally mentioned for this domestic thriller. Suffice it say, I will definitely be interested in reading another of this person's work. Some of it was a bit unbelievable scenarios, a touch of it felt like a classic thriller set up, and the timelines were an interesting look between the "then" and "now" version's of the characters and who the povs were in general.

I will say the mental illness in this one can possibly triggers those who are sensitive to this particular illness and those effected by it. I was not immune to this but the story did have a point for it so it wasn't done in a negative way but more of an awareness sort. Regardless of all that, the story was a page turner that kept me heavily entertained from start to finish and I only regret not reading this sooner.

My Rating: 4 Stars (rounded up 3.75)

Thank you to author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me this arc in exchange for my honest review. Sally Hepworth is an auto read (and buy) for me! Always delivers with plot and characters. Couldn’t put this book down. Highly recommend.

Sally Hepworth never fails to deliver on a well written domestic suspense book. The detail that goes into her writing makes you feel like you are sitting at the edge of the cliff that was described a few pages into this story. Her intricate detail is unmatched. However, this one just didn’t really do much for me. I was hoping and expecting more out of the story. I felt like it was a bit unfinished/unresolved. All of that to say, it wasn’t a bad book by any means. Just was not my favorite by her.
