This is a great sampler! The Sunbearer Trials and We Deserve Monuments were two of my favorite books of 2022! I appreciate the chance to read small snippets before committing to a purchase for my classroom library.

I have so far read two of these books, The Sunbearer Trials and Strike the Zither. If I were to pick up any more of these, I’d probably read Princess of Souls or Stolen City. I’m not interested in the contemporaries on this list, because I don’t like contemporaries. I have heard good things about the series that’s retelling classic novels, but I wouldn’t read them personally.

As for the two I did read, I enjoyed both of them.

The Sunbearer Trials was a really great book, with lots of lgbtq rep that I loved. Getting to follow a trans protagonist was really cool. I’ve only ever seen trans characters as side characters, never the main pov.

The world building was really fascinating. This is the first book I’ve read that’s based in South American culture and folklore. I’m really interested in reading more books in that sort of world, because it was really cool.

The plot was probably the least compelling thing about the book for me, but that’s not the book’s fault. I’m just not the sort of person who likes competition stories. But I’m sure there are plenty of people who do who would love this book.

I am very excited for the sequel, because I really want to see more of the world and characters. 4/5 stars.

Next, Strike the Zither.

I’m not familiar with the story this book is based on, and I think that’s a good thing. There’s a major plot twist about halfway through that might have been a little too predictable if I’d known the original tale. I’m not yet sure how I feel about the twist, because it really changed up everything about the story. I’ll have to wait and see how the sequel handles it to know if the twist works for me.

I really liked the political maneuvering and the characters. Every character felt like their own person, not just a stock character. So then when they clashed with each other, it really made their differences stand out. The author did such a great job with the dynamics between the different characters and factions, which was honestly the best part of the book.

I think the only thing holding me back from giving it a full five stars is that I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the big twist yet. That will be determined by what happens in the sequel. I wish I didn’t have to wait for the sequel to see if I liked a decision made by the author in this book. For that, 4/5 stars.

Another amazing sampler. I absolutely love seeing these and what they have for future releases. This gives you just the right amount of content to decide if you really want to support the author and content provided!

Great variety of book samples! There were a few that I’ll definitely be adding to my to be read list and reading as soon as my library has them available.

I really enjoy these samplers. They are a great resource for discovering upcoming titles. They provided a few chapters of each book, just enough to get a taste of the story and the writing style. These samplers also really help me when I can't decide what to read next or when I'm not quite ready to commit to a full book. I'm very excited to read many of these titles, but, based on the sampler, I think I'm most excited for Self Made Boys.

Loved this short little sampler! It allowed me to read the beginnings of some books and let me experience them to decide if it's something I'd like to read or not! This is a great way to get people excited about new books! Wonderful and will be certainly checking out a few of these books when they release!

These samplers of upcoming new releases are always a great way to get me pumped. I feel like fall is always such a great season for new books! The great thing about these samplers is that it also helps me to see some of the books I thought I'd want to read , but maybe realize I don't like the authors writing style after all. Either way it's super helpful!

This sampler pack was very helpful with choosing some TBR title for my English classroom. I love getting these previews packaged up like this to help me decide what to read and review for my students!

I was looking for more titles to add to my TBR and I was so excited when I came across this sampler.

I wasn’t personally super into the influencer’s nightmare Lord of the Fly Fest, but it was an interesting premise and I think other people might vibe with it better.

I just finished an ARC of The Sunbearer Trials and cannot believe how good it was! Highly recommend!

I am interested in reading Afterlove and seeing where this story goes. I’m hoping there is a bit of mythology involved since Charon is mentioned briefly.

I’ve seen people talking about We Deserve Monuments on BookTok for a while now and I was so excited to get to read a sample. It did not disappoint.

I hadn’t heard of House of Yesterday before, so I am very happy to be aware of it now, and I’m anxious to read more. It ended at such a suspenseful moment!

I really enjoyed being able to read a few chapters from each of these titles and I think it’s a great concept to allow readers to get a taste of each season’s releases to create buzz. I look forward to more samplers from Fierce Reads!
