this just did not hit very hard for me. it started off quite intriguing and i was excited to see where it would go, but unfortunately it just fell flat. the plot felt over the top, and not in an enjoyable way, and the characters were annoying and did pretty much everything that you shouldn’t do in a horror/thriller setting

I could not get into this one. I was expecting more murder mystery and less science fiction. I appreciate the ARC, but this just wasn't for me.

If you’re looking for a book that requires insane suspension of disbelief in exchange for a heart racing psychological thriller, this book is perfect for you.

I truly could not trust any of the characters and their stories, which I think is sometimes the highlight of a good psychological thriller. It was multiple POV story which only added to the chilling reality of what happened/was happening/what everyone thought would happen to the characters. I felt like the title was a bit misleading and it required almost complete suspension of disbelief, but beyond that, it was a decent psychological thriller with the most wild premise. Three stars.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as other books by Armstrong. I liked the characters and the situations they had to work through. The story is told through multiple points of view which can make it hard to keep track of while reading. It was a strange read.

Excellent mystery, compelling characters, and a fabulous twist.

Eight-thirty in the morning, and I can already declare it a shitty day.
- first line

Fast-paced from the beginning. The characters are interesting, and the plot is twisty and kept me guessing. You’ll never look at memory the same way again.

This is a psychological YA thriller. Blythe and her friends are intriguing characters. The plot is interesting, and original. I didn't finish it. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, a Penguin Random House Canada production, for an honest review. #NetGalley

This is definitely what you would call a popcorn YA thriller! I have really enjoyed Kelly Armstrongs other books so was excited to pick up something a little different from her. The premise of the story is perfection, but there was a little too much repetition and our cast of characters figured things out a little too quickly for my liking. I did like our leading lady and her two main partners in crime. I also liked some of the representation depicted especially in a YA setting I think that diversity is really important.

Spoiler ahead:

The irony of the title is that no one was ever really watching these kids. While they were a part of an experiment their parents weren’t closely monitoring their movements nor were the teachers and faculty at the school or even the security guards.

Overall this was an average read. A little slow in the middle but there were a couple twists and I did have a fun time.

This was an interesting story about family, home, and trust. Told from Blythe's perspective, there is a small band of friends who are just on the brink of being out of high school and moving on. Thinking about college and last days of homework, they are shocked when one of them starts acting odd. Gabrielle is in the classroom yelling about cameras and watching her. She's sent to the office and Blythe follows her. But this one action, being sent the the office and Blythe falling, is going to send them all spinning.

I liked guessing what was going on. I did guess quite a bit but never who the ringleader was. I liked dissecting the relationships and trying to understand what we knew and how we knew it. It was shocking at points and I liked that you weren't sure who to trust. I read with a friend and we liked kicking around ideas and breaking down theories. It was a pretty good read!

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book

When someone ask me what my favorite books series is, I immediately go to Kelley Armstrong's Rockton Series. Loving her writing so much, I wanted to check in on this book. It was wonderful, it had a completely different feel and it goes to show that Kelley can write any genre.

I really enjoyed this psychological thriller. Set in a town where everyone works for "the company," some of the plot was obvious to this reader, but that didn't detract from seeing how everything played out as the story unfolded. Hand this to readers looking for a good suspense novel.

Kelley Armstrong is an author from my childhood. So I was so excited to read this book.

Blythe goes to school for her parents company. When her friends start disappearing or acting strangely. They must dig up the past.

This book was good. It is a great Ya Thriller if you are just getting into thrillers. I was really into the story the whole im entire time since it starts quick paced right from the beginning.

You get twist and turns through out the whole story and makes you wonder if you’re remembering your memories correctly.

3.5⭐️

Toxic friend groups where everyone is kind of in love with each other, kind of all hate each other is one of my favorite tropes so I was instantly interested in this crazy friend group.

A psychological YA thriller set in a high school? YES PLEASE. Here for the premise and the mystery (but not always for the psych thriller aspects). I don’t love gaslighting also this was very out there though so that’s why I took it down a few stars.

Gripping and will have you asking yourself what precisely is going on with these teens. Complicated but never feeling as if you're left in the dark. Armstrong does not disappoint.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books And NetGalley for an arc edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A mystery from the start! This one pulled me in mostly because I just wasn’t quite sure what the heck was going on…. Mysterious memories that don’t add up. Nightmares of blood and murder…. A school of STEM students.

The story takes place in a private STEM school that is run by a research lab where the majority of student’s parent work. A small group of friends are thrown into chaos when the principal is found dead with one of the group, Gabrielle, in his office. Quickly minds unravel when Gabrielle seems to have lost her mind and starts accusations that her parents aren’t her parents and the cameras are always watching them. This event leads Blythe to try to help her friend and to figure out what is happening at her school. Strange happenings start to expose secrets that the students are shocked to find out.
As a YA this was well done and would be enjoyed by adults as well. No whiny teenager attitudes or silly romances. Just a twisty and well written mystery with unreliable narrators.
