I can't get enough of Sunshine, Auri, Levi and Cruz. Darynda Jones has a way of creating unforgettable characters you care about and you just want them to be OK. The whole cast of this series is just wonderful. In this installment we finally get movement in Sunshine and Levi's relationship.
Auri is a bit of a wildcard, she had bad things come her way in the past because of her thoughtless behavior and it doesn't seem she's learned her lesson yet. But...apple...tree...ya know? I'm sure she will eventually.

Levi's the sexy grump we've come to know but it's so freaking heartwarming to see how much he loves the two females in his life. And Cruz is just a teenage dreamboat.

Can I has more, pwease?

Once again, Darynda Jones hits it out of the park!

Sunshine Vicram is amazing, all the parts come together to a satisfying conclusion.

I cannot believe that this series is over!

This book was everything that I wanted and more.

We finally got most of the answers we were looking for! There were still a few things left open ended that I HOPE is leaving the door open for a spin off.

Levi finding out he was a father absolutely didn’t disappoint and the steamy scenes were perfection.

One of my top favorite books of 2022!

New Mexico’s Del Sol Sheriff Sunshine Vicram arrives at work after too much tequila the night before and finds that it is a very hard day for a hangover. When the body of a young woman is found in the woods, her team is sent to investigate. On top of the investigation, Sunshine also attempts to wrangle her teenage daughter who desperately wants to be involved in the case. Throw in a returned love interest as well and you’ve got quite the day.

I found the characters charming and amusing, but I did myself a disservice to reading this installment of the series first. I found myself confused and missing backstory as this book picks up quickly in timeline from its predecessor. All in all a fun, quirky mystery series for anyone looking t for a light and amusing read.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for a fair review.

Need an engaging story line and a good laugh? Look no further than Darynda Jones’ Sunshine Vicram series. This latest installment, Hard Day for a Hangover, is a non-stop ride, filled with twists and Jones’ characteristic snark and steam.

Sunshine is such a great character, full of spunk and way more intelligent than she’d like to believe. I like her even more than Charley Davidson from Jones’ other well-known series!

I feel that this is definitely a series you need to read in order. If you were to read this third book before the other two, it would still be enjoyable, but you might not fully understand what is going on. So pick up the whole series, since it is entirely bingeable! I seriously hope that we see more of Sunshine Vicram.

I give Hard Day for a Hangover an easy 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a perfect story to get your mind off of the crazy all around you! 🙂

Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the digital copy of this novel for review purposes. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my very own! 🙂

A Hard Day for a Hangover is the third and apparently final book in the Sunshine Vicram trilogy. I have no idea this was a trilogy and I was sad to hear that it was. This series is a favorite of mine. If you haven't read the first two books, don't start with this one. It spoils a lot of things from the first two books.

I don't want to give away too much. I'll just say I really really enjoyed this one. It had the same humor and snarkiness that I have been loving. I love the relationships that Sunshine has with her daughter, parents and co-workers. There were a lot of scenes that had me on the edge of my seat. This final book is a great wrap up to the events that have been happening over the entire trilogy. If it is really the last one, I am satisfied with how it ended. I definitely recommend this one as well as the series.

It's hard to say goodbye to a well loved character. Darynda Jones always brings her characters to life for me. I'm invested in their stories and never want them to end. I would have loved to give this book 5 stars so this is a 4.5 only because the ending fell a little flat. I hate spoilers so all I'll say is your questions are answered.
Once again, Sunshine finds herself in the middle of a mystery and that mystery involves the whole the family. She's trying to figure out next steps with Levi, Auri is more curious than ever, and the Dangerous Daughters and Sinister Sons are still at their antics.
Darynda Jones gives the reader enough mystery to keep them guessing, enough action to keep them entertained, and enough romance to feed their souls.

A Hard Day for a Hangover is another delightful and sassy installment in the Sunshine Vicram series. It's full of heart and snark and was everything I was hoping it would be!
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read and review this title. All opinions and mistakes are my own.

Now that the trilogy is over, I may go back and reread it all as one big story. I loved this book and trilogy so much! It’s a book I did not want to read because then it would be over, but you have to read to see how it ends and all comes together.

The gang returns as Sunshine figures out how to deal with Levi and the revelations around what happened to her as a teen while investigating a girl found beaten and left for dead over a cliff. Auri sticks her nose in to help and everyone bands together to figure it all out. I’m glossing over the story because it’s so good and I want to give nothing away! Kudos though for the chuckle I got weaving in a comment about her other series!

I’m curious to see what comes next. Will there be more adventures for Sunshine and her crew or…will we possible see them again in an Auri centered series?? That would be awesome!

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It was ok. Writing was alright. Story was unrealistic. I wanted to like it, just really couldn’t get into it.

I just love Darynda Jones and was so glad to be able to receive an ARC from NetGalley for this book. A Hard Day for a Hangover is book 3 in the series. Books #1 and #2, A Bad Day for Sunshine and A Good Day for Chardonnay, were truly enjoyable reads, and this third book is just as good as the other two. Darynda Jones somehow manages to write thrillers that feel light and fluffy while still including some rather serious topics/occurrences. Fans of her Charley Davidson series will surely like this series just as much, if not more.

When a severely injured woman is found by a Del Sol resident and rescued by Del Sol Sheriff's Office, evidence found at the scene points to a serial predator in Del Sol. Combine this with Sunshine's ongoing tension with Levi and it was a bad day for Sunshine to wake up with a tequila induced hangover.

A Hard Day for a Hangover is the third installment and conclusion to the Sunshine Vicram trilogy and I am heartbroken - I absolutely love this series, the chemistry of the characters, the strength of Sunshine and Auri, and I wish it would go on and on. That said, I thought A Hard Day for a Hangover was a wonderful conclusion to the series and wrapped up all of the loose ends well.

Five stars for A Hard Day for the Hangover and the series as a whole, I hope Darynda Jones will rethink this being the end of this series and continue writing more adventures for Sunshine, Levi, Auri, Quince, and the rest of Del Sol.

I received a copy of this book for review from NetGalley. A Hard Day for a Hangover is a very satisfying conclusion to this trilogy. Set just a couple of days after the end of the second book, this very fast paced story manages to tie up every loose end from the series, though I did start to worry a bit about 3/4 of the way through. Sunshine and Auri solve the mystery, save the town, and get the boys. Overall, this was an exciting and wild ride.

A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER - Darynda Jones

#3 in the Sunny Vickram series

CUTE AND ENTERTAINING - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - This book loosely follows the previous two in mentioning Sunny's background story along with Levi and her daughter. But mostly we see new cases in the police blotter, this time focusing on missing teen girls.

Writing - 4 stars - Jones writes in a entertaining and humorous way that tells a story, but it doesn't get bogged down in the seriousness of the police procedurals. The characters are fun, and the opening phrases at the beginning of each chapter sets the light-hearted tone.

Characters - 4.5 stars - This is where the story shines for me. Sunny is a great main character. She's serious about her job and her responsibilities both as a sheriff and as a mom, but she's funny and doesn't take herself too seriously. I especially like Ari as a main character--and she was an important part of this book. She's cute and smart, and I like the way her mind works. "What could go wrong?" makes me laugh every time she says it because, of course, something always does go wrong for her. Quincy is a great straight-man, providing a sounding board for Sunny. Levi is actually more of a secondary character this time, as are Sunny's parents, but they all provide a solid base and some amusing moments.

Title - 3.5 stars - I'm not sure I would have focused the whole book on Sunny's one day of work with a hangover. Yes, that began the story, but I didn't think it was particularly important.

Cover - 4 stars - A beautiful cover that draws the eye to the main features, which show up clearly against a clean white background.

Overall - 4 stars - This is such an entertaining series, and I loved that Jones casually mentioned a series to read about a Grim Reaper (that is, of course, the other Jones series). Sunny is a great main character, although I think her abduction background is kind of convoluted. But it works to bring her and Levi and Ari together. The various cases are usually serious, the danger is real, and the police work is good, but the joking between characters lightens it up considerably. I really don't enjoy anything to do with the Dangerous Daughters. The meetings are intrusive, and the people are not funny (although I think they're supposed to be). I just don't quite understand what their purpose is (except, perhaps, to review the open cases for the reader), and I could do with much less of them.

A solid, funny fiction with some elements of a mystery. I love the sarcasm of the characters and there are truly some laugh out loud moments. However, the mystery aspect didn’t keep my attention like I’d hoped and I found myself getting confused with the amount of characters and corresponding backstory. Solid book, but just not one that I loved. 3 stars ⭐️ . Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley.

★★ 4.5 stars! ★★

The much-anticipated conclusion to the Sunshine Vicram series will have you on the edge of your seat and your heart pounding in your throat.

Told with Jones’ signature sass and sarcasm, there are multiple mysteries to be solved and loose ends to be tied up before the last page—and let me tell you, everything ends in the best possible way. Fans of Darynda Jones' writing and/or this series will be very happy!

I have loved this entire series and really hope that there will be a spin-off series with the next generation of super-smart kids.

I have loved this series and could not wait for this book but...I felt slighlty disconnected. I think in this case it was definitely a *me* thing and am sure at some point I will go back and reread the entire series and feel differently. It may have been the time, it may have been that part of the big mystery was resolved.

That being said I love what Ms. Jones writes and this was no exception - she has amazing characters both main and secondary with so many interesting things to further explore. I hope this isnt our only visit to town!

I flew through this book, getting annoyed when life demanded I put down my iPad. The final installment in the Sunshine Vicram trilogy was hilarious and intricately plotted and suspenseful and awesome. My apologies to the author and the publisher for not writing a much longer review the moment I finished reading. Darn work and home life! But I loved this whole series, and I'm sad this was the last installment. The only weak spot in the book was the unnecessary repetition of how hot Levi was (we get it!), and the suspension of disbelief it required to go along with the idea that he could be squashed by a truck, etc. and still be physically capable of all his feats of derring do with no medical attention or recuperation/healing time. Otherwise, *chef's kiss*!

Book three in the series and you would think that everything would get old with the characters and with the story and yet it does not. The author has kept everything fresh with the girls missing and Sunshine is working at trying to find what is common with each of the disappearances. Levi has a relative escape from prison, you find out for sure who is Auri's father and yet that is not a big surprise. During all of this Bug is still worried about Cruz and still has problems staying at school. Sunshine teller her what she needs to do or not to be an FBI agent is every parent's thought process. Yet you find out so much more. This story has so much going on and yet you are able to follow all of the characters the author makes it about life in a small town with quirky people. A very good story, with good characters, and again the sayings before each chapter are very funny, a must-read.
