A Hard Day for a Hangover, the third book starring New Mexico Sheriff Sunshine Vicram is just as good as the first two. This character driven series is so fun to read with plenty of secondary characters to root for. This book was a bit more graphic than the previous novels, by no means a cozy mystery, and the action and sub plots kept me turning the pages. Several previous story lines seemed to be wrapping up. I can only hope that does not indicate the end of the series. I don’t feel this book should be read as a stand alone, treat yourself to the backlist.

I received this ARC for an honest review. I love the writing of Darynda Jones. I don’t think I have read a book from her that I didn’t enjoy.
This is the third book in the Sunshine Vicram series. I love how Darynda Jones uses humor to balance out the gruesome scenes the characters encounter. Darynda Jones knows how to give the reader little clues without giving everything away.
Sunshine is the sheriff and her best friend Quincy is her deputy. They received a phone call about a girl found injured on a cliff. I won’t say much about this because I want you to read this book! Her love interest Levi help Sunshine to help save the girl from the cliff. Sun and Levi survived a gruesome past (things were done to them. I’m not telling what because you need to read the book! 😉) As the case unfolds, Sun realize this is only a small part of a multilayered cover up.
This is NOT a stand alone book. I love this kind of series because the characters change and grow with each story. The author gets a chance to have the reader really get to know her characters.

I really liked this book it is the third book in the series. All of the characters are well developed and there was a truly suspenseful mystery. A young girl is found in a canyon with serious injuries. The town flasher is stabbed in the neck with a dubious story of a gang attack. A local break-in at Wanda’s. A disgruntled uncle wants to kill Levi and the former sheriff is acting suspiciously. Sunshine has a lot on her plate so it’s a bad day for a hangover. Quite a few loose ends were tied up and there was a reckoning for many of the bad guys. I have to say that I like anything Ms. Jones writes and look forward to her next books in this series or any other. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The third book in the series has it all and in just the right amounts. The humor is laugh out loud funny, the relationships/friendships are heart warming, the romance is hot and the action is intense.
For those who've read the first two books, you'll want to continue. For those who haven't, now is your chance to start and catch up.

I never get tired of reading Darynda Jones' books, there smart, fun, action pack and who doesn't like someone who likes coffee as much as I do.
The final story to this series, I'm very sad, is just as intense and action pack as all the other stories. The characters are so witty and sarcastic and I love it. I love that Sunshine gets what she always wants both for herself and her daughter and that all the loose ends in this series are all answered. I love how the whole town comes together when someone is in trouble and that their not afraid of getting their hands dirty to help. I also like that the secondary characters like Doug and Wanda add to the overall story and are just as important and hilarious as the rest of the plot. All I can say is I didn't want to put the book down even though it was bedtime and I had to get up early to go to work. :(

And I think this series should go on. I also like that reference to the Charly Davidson series, pretty funny.

I want to thank St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this advance copy from one of my favorite authors

The finale of the Sunshine Vicram trilogy is here and I refuse to let this be the end. I don’t want to say goodbye to these characters yet so there better be some extras or spin-offs or surprise fourth book(s). I shout these demands to the universe!

A Hard Day for a Hangover starts up practically right where we left off in book 2. Which is good because there are a lot of great follow-ups to see through. It’s still serious yet snappy. Jones’s genius at writing heavy situations with a lightness that doesn’t come off as flippant or glib is still in full force. She balances humor, sass, depth of character, mystery, romance, and thrills. It’s a lot to juggle and she makes it look easy.

We get some answers. We get new crazy. Some things are obvious and there were a couple places I yearned for just a little bit more, but I didn’t really care. It’s still so easy to get caught up in and love. If you haven’t ready this series, you need to give it a try. Now.

CW: While it doesn’t take place at the actual High School, there is a “school” shooting.

* I received a free early copy from the publisher.

Sunshine, Auri and the rest of the gang are back in this third adventure in the series. The Ravinders are behaving badly. There is a serial rapist/killer loose.. Wynn Ravinder has escaped from prison. Just another day in Sunshine’s world! Love this series for the snappy dialogue and the relationship between Shine and Levi. Thanks Netgalley for the advanced copy.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER (Book 3 of the Sunshine Vicram mysteries) by Darynda Jones in exchange for an honest review. When a young woman is found unconscious in a desolate area, Sheriff Sunshine Vicram finds herself investigating a series of missing women. Sunshine is also busy trying to track down Levi Ravinder who disappears after she tells him information she recently learned as her memories return. To further complicate matters, Levi’s uncle has escaped his imprisonment, and the FBI agent suspects Sunshine of being involved in the plot. So, business as usual. Meanwhile, the Sunshine’s daughter and friends deal with the emotional and physical fallout from the events in Book 2.

I enjoyed this book and highly recommend the series to fans of humorous mysteries.

This was a really fun Romance Thriller.
Book 3 of the Sunshine Vicram series draws the series to a close.
It's a fast paced, action packed page turner.
Developed characters, a decent amount of humor, and lots of suspense.

This was the first series I've read by this author and I will be reading more.

Women have started going missing and Sheriff Sunshine Vicram is trying to put the pieces together while also keeping her daughter out of the investigation. But as much as Sunny tries, her daughter Auri is a chip off the old block and just can’t let a mystery go. Then theirs is Levi Ravinder who is hardheaded, stubborn, fierce, and would stop at nothing to protect those he loves.

Sunny and Levi are drawn to each other but tend to let misunderstandings get in their way. Auri is bright and falling head over heels for Cruz who now lives with Quince after his father passed away. Let’s not forget the mysterious town group who is secretly in charge of everything and definitely makes Sunny’s head spin. This is an excellent end to a fantastic series that we can hope Darynda might decide to do a little spin-off of this series because there is still stories to be told for each of the supporting characters as well as a few of the main ones.

One of my favorite things about Darynda’s books is the chapter headings. They will leave you giggling and probably wanting to borrow a few of them since they are so highly relatable and hilarious. Her books are so easy to read and the storylines flow that it’s so hard to put down until the last page.

I adore this trilogy and I’m sorry to see it end. If you like fast action, fast talking, sarcasm, sass and charm sprinkled throughout your mystery, this is for you! Think Stephanie Plum, the Gilmore Girls and Mrs. Maisel getting together! It’s awesome! I’m going to hold out hope that begging, pleading and demand may just bring it back, or at least open a new path forward for our protagonist and friends.

A Hard Day For A Hangover is the third, and last, novel in the Darynda Jone's Sunshine Viacram triology. I hope there will be novellas of the supporting characters--or perhaps a spin-off series. I am not ready to leave Sunshine's world yet.
From the eclectic covers to the snappy characters, Darynda Jones produces tense mysteries that are also very humorous, with an underlying serious theme. If you are having a bad day, this series can cheer you right up! I highly recommend this entertaining book.

Thank you @stmartinspress @DaryndaJones #NetGalley @kejanaayala for advanced copy e-book in exchange for my honest opinion.

My thanks to NetGalley for making an eARC copy of this book available to me.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable third book in what is said to be a trilogy, with lots of laugh-out-loud moments. The author wrapped up the major plotlines nicely, but left enough open that we might yet get to see more books in this series. Sunshine's daughter continues to be annoyingly teenage-like in her denial of possible consequences to her actions, causing some major damage.

Here's hoping the author keeps bringing us more of those Sunshine books!

Another hit outta the park. Witty, suspenseful and entertaining. .

A Hard Day for a Hangover is an excellent finale to the Sunshine Vicram series.

Taking place soon after the second book ends, Sunshine is again beset with the weirdness in Del Sol. An attack on the local flasher, house break-ins, a missing raccoon, and her teenager skipping school are all keeping Sunshine busy when she's called out of town to investigate an unidentified injured woman. Sunshine's daughter, Auri, is making sure that her boyfriend Cruz heals after the events of book 2 and is spending her free time investigating her classmates in an effort to help her mother.

As with the other books in the series, the central relationship between Sunshine and Auri grounds the book as quip-filled action surrounds our central figures. The dozens of quirky side characters running through with their own problems keep the story moving while the Gilmore-esque bond between Sunshine and Auri holds everything together.

This book is a lot of fun, with a fitting conclusion to the overarching plot. I didn't want it to end!

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for early access to this book.

I was bummed at first I didn't get access to the audio, since I LOVE the narrator for Darynda's books, but I'm here for the sarcastic witty humor of the characters and the story itself, so I'm just glad I got to read this before the official release. Loved this series. My only complaint is Darynda's weird nicknames for children. LoL. (Beansprout, Bug, etc.) Can't wait for more!

Reviewed for NetGalley.

I absolutely adore Sunshine Vicram and her fun, sarcastic, never dull family, friends, and citizens of Del Sol. If I could move there, I would.

A Hard Day is the continuation of Sunshine's story in Del Sol. Still navigating being the Town Sheriff, raising the troublemaking, intelligent teenager, Auri, and maybe sorta kinda making headway with the love of her life, Levi Ravinder.

Sunshine and the cast of characters find a Jane Doe beaten and broken in a nearby canyon instigating the main whodunnit for the plot. The investigative piece was well done, although somewhat predictable, but nevertheless enjoyable.

Honestly, I just love Jones' dialogue for these characters. Funny, intelligent, never ending quips that kept me engaged and loving every bit of it.

I would read a series of 20 of these, so I hope she continues on with Sunshine's story.

Sunshine is back! And we could not be happier! Of course, our lovely Aurora is following in her mother’s footsteps, which will probably get her in trouble. And that gorgeous hunk of man Levi is back as well! So will they finally hook up? Who knows!

It is definitely one of those days. Hungover and unmotivated, Sunny just wants to pull the covers up and go back to sleep. That isn’t happening. She has more than one missing woman and one that is unconscious and in the hospital but no one knows who she is.

Auri, who is about to become a teenaged PI, not really, but kind of, is determined to find out who the girl is and who is doing the hurting! Even as she and her love, Cruz, are still mending from their last “adventure”.

And then there is Levi Ravinder, the guy Sunny has been in love and lust with for years and boy do they have a secret!

With all of this going on, people are still trying to kill them and Sunshine is trying to find out who is behind it all while also being accused of staging a prison break!

No one makes me laugh and cry more than Sunshine Vicram. She is all of us! And I love her and her crazy family!

This is the third, and sadly final, book in the Sunshine Vicram trilogy, and was an absolutely wonderful finale. As much as I loved seeing a happy ending for Sunshine, Levi and Sunshine's family, I would love even more to see more stories featuring the wonderful town of Del Sol. The rest of the inhabitants and their lives (as written by Jones of course) could entertain me ages!

Sunshine starts her day with a hangover and things go downhill from there. Such a great book, interesting characters, and a story line that picks up where the last book left off. I love this series.
