This will be a fun brain-candy romp for many readers--especially those who have been following Sheriff Sunshine Vicram through the first two books. The multi-layered plot, interesting characters, and crackling dialogue make for a fast and entertaining read. Hard-boiled in the most modern way, Sunny Vicram makes her way through solving crime, dealing with her crazy-rebellious daughter, and sorting out her love life (with steamy results!) in what sometimes feels like an extended and fully-developed SNL skit. Could she be a modern reincarnation of Kinsey Milhone? Read and find out!

This the first book I have read by this author but will not be my last!! The story is full of laughs and tears. I love all the characters- easy to relate to and to love and hate. the story has many layers with twist and turns but all comes together in the end.

If you like hot men, snappy dialogue, fun mysteries, sweet romance, engaging conspiracies and lovable characters then Darynda Jones is the writer for you. Think Janet Evonovich in New Mexico.
In Jones latest, Sheriff Sunshine Vicram must solve a series of murders while keeping the oh-so-very-hot love of her life from killing and/or being killed, her snarky overachieving daughter alive, her parents and their friends from meddling and a racoon from terrorizing the sheriff’s station. A Hard Day for a Hangover is action-packed and sweet and I give it four out of five stars.

This was a fabulous conclusion (I think this is the last book that is) to the series! The first 2 in the series were at times a bit too silly, but not this one! It was touching, suspenseful, and had a couple mysteries to unravel! It’s also told in dual POV (Sunshine and Auri).

I loved learning the secrets of Sun, seeing her secrets unfold, and the secondary characters’ reactions to said secrets.

All in all, this was a great read. I highly recommend reading the books in order to fully understand what all is happening.

Sunny isn't happy with her life right now but there is not much she can do but carry on. Meanwhile she has to figure out why women keep disappearing and what has happened to them. Her daughter is as rebellious as ever and continues to stick her nose is cases when she should be concentrating on school. Plus Levi has been scarce since she told him he is Auri's father, making her wonder how he feels about the whole situation. Follow along and see just how Sunny deals with the mystery of the missing women, will she successfully figure it out? Can she get Levi, who is the love of her life, to talk with her and work things out? Will she keep Auri out of trouble and headed on the right track? This has been such a wonderful series and I always look forward to the next book. I hope the author will continue with these delightfully in depth characters!

Darynda never disappoints! A Hard Day for a Hangover is the last installment in the Sunshine Vicram series, but I'm hoping we get more about the residents of Del Sol. Like the other books in the series we have just enough suspense and humor with healthy dose of plot twists. I love the relationship between Sunshine and Auri and I love having both of their POVs in this series. The rest of the characters in the story are also equally as fun and/or interesting. I'm sad the series is completed, but I loved the ending and hope we get some spinoffs to keep up with the gang. I feel there is plenty we can still undercover and explore in Del Sol.

This is such a fun series. I love the characters so much. Darynda Jones can blend drama and comedy like no one else. This makes for an exceptional storu.

Let me tell you, Darynda Jones knows how to write an alpha hero like no other, and Levi Ravinder has rocketed up to the top of the pack when it comes to heart eyes and book boyfriends.

In book 2, Sunshine's memories were rushing back, and she finally remembered bits and pieces of her capture and rescue from when she was a teen. And now she's ready to confront Levi with everything she knows and see where they go from there. But there's a girl found, and the entire Del Sol police force (and unofficial, self proclaimed sleuth Aurie) are all on the case.

While the case unfolds, with Sunshine and her independent daughter both getting closer to the truth, Sunshine and Levi are trying to define what normal will be for them.

So. MUCH. Happens in this book, and I don't want to give one precious second of the reveals away. Just know, the wait was so worth it! I hope we're not leaving Del Sol permanently in the taillights after this book!

I loved reading this book. I was so excited to see it come out that I couldn't wait to read it. Some of the biting humor and wit was a bit lacking but the drama more than made up for it.

A Hard Day for a Hangover, the 3rd book in the Sunshine Vicram series, by Darynda Jones, is a really fun cozy mystery and a great addition to this series. I’ve heard rumors that this is the final book and I’m sorry to hear it because it is such a unique, humorous, quirky, but interesting trilogy. This story really has it all…mystery, romance, friendship, family ties, heat, heart and humor.

This particular story starts with a hangover and things just escalate from there for one-of-a-kind, Sunshine Vicram. Upon awakening, Sunshine is informed that a girl is found in the nearby forest assaulted and in bad shape. After she’s taken to the hospital, we discover that this young girl is not the first.

There are multiple layers, characters, plot twists and dynamics to this story. Darynda Jones has a way of taking an intriguing, well-thought out crime and adding humor, tension and emotion. Though I enjoy the sleuthing, the cast of characters is probably what truly makes this story. They are good-hearted, focused and forthcoming. They are also unafraid to be themselves, and each one has a delightfully entertaining personality. If you enjoy cozy mysteries and want something a little different, this is the series for you. Just be prepared to laugh!

This might be blasphemy to say but I enjoyed this trilogy much more than Charley Davidson. I still love Charley but Sunshine and her family are my favorites.

I am really sad this is coming to an end. Between the ambiguous ending and my love for the characters, I'm just not ready to say goodbye. Maybe Auri will get her own spin off and we'll get to be back in this world again.

Anyway, if you like mysteries with humor, romance and lovable characters, I highly recommend you pick this series up. I want to thank St. Martin's Press for an early, gifted copy.

When several young women are going missing or found dead Sheriff Sunshine Vicram is on the hunt for the bad guys. All the while pretty much trying to avoid her huge crush, Levi Ravinder and also attempting to keep her headstrong (and awesome) daughter Auri out of trouble.

“She needed to think ahead more often. Formulate step-by-step plans of action. Shit like that. She’d put that on her to-do list as soon as she created one.”

LOVE this series! So much humor without taking away from the mystery and of course romance. I want to be best friends with Sunny and her daughter Auri. The cast of characters in Del Sol is amazing and completely entertaining.

One Hard Day for a Hangover is a story with humor, romance, family, suspense, and even a torrid love scene thrown in for good measure. Sunshine Vicram is a great character. She is a feisty and smart sheriff who is also a devoted mother who is totally smitten with the play is cool Levi Ravinder.

This is my first Darynda Jones book and it was not what I expected but I loved it nonetheless There are great characters and a well plotted mystery. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

4.5stars— A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER is the third instalment in Darynda Jones’ contemporary, adult SUNSHINE VICRAM romantic suspense series focusing on small town Sheriff Sunshine Vicram, her daughter Auri aka Aurora, and Del Sol’s eclectic group of mad men, thieves, murderers, mean girls and amateur investigators. A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER should not be read as a stand alone as there is an ongoing theme and premise throughout, and picks up immediately after the events of book two A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Sunshine and Auri) following several intersecting pathways, A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER follows the investigation into the discovery of a badly injured young woman who may or may not be a victim of a serial abuser. Sunshine and her team are called to the cliffs outside of Del Sol where a barely recognizable Jane Doe is struggling to survive. With her daughter Auri on the hunt for clues, Sunshine finds herself investigating the possibility of one of their own targeting innocent young woman. Meanwhile, the love of Sunshine’s life, distillery owner Levi Ravinder must contend with his dysfunctional family, a war ‘brewing’ for ownership of the business, and a secret that is about to change the direction of this life. From the town’s ‘tiny boy band’ breaking into local homes, to another orphan discovering his is no longer alone, Del Sol is the proverbial small town ‘Peyton Place’ and ‘Knot’s Landing’ where secrets reveal decades of lies, buried sins, and years of abnormal social behavior culminating in vengeance and obsession.

A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER is a story of family, relationships, friendships, and love with a little bit of Darynda Jones’ requisite humor thrown in for release; jealousy and greed, betrayal, vengeance, and murder. The premise is intriguing, captivating and thrilling but the ‘guilty party’ is too easily deduced; the romance between Sunshine and Levi is heartwarming and emotional; the characters are numerous, energetic and dynamic.

This series has struck the perfect balance of humor and solid mystery, and this final (sob) book in the trilogy wraps up the running storylines perfectly and leaves these characters I've really enjoyed in a good spot. There's certainly room to expand if Darynda Jones picks up these characters again.

This series has been so entertaining. I love the small town setting, the quirky characters and the mystery in each book.

I think the third book did a great job of wrapping everything up.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

This story has some humorous moments but lots of times where she should have simply known better or were the consequences of past unwise actions. Well written interesting story,

I love this series so much and I am very sad this is the last book. That being said, I loved this one just as much as the first two books. The different relationships in the book and the witty banter between everyone really made me wish the story didn’t have to end. I’m crossing my fingers that, through some miracle, we get a fourth book one day.
