I wanted to love this book with my whole heart, but I struggled with it. I actually went and bought books 1/2 so I could read this ARC. My biggest problem with this book was the pacing. It just isn’t quite fast paced enough to be a horror in my opinion. I love the world she’s created, I just wish it had more umph to it.

This book was a page turner from the very beginning! I would definitely revisit and recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book they cannot put down! It doesn’t even matter if we’re not in the spooky season anymore- read it!

This is the fifth of Darcy Coates books that I have read, and I have decided that I'm definitely a fan. Apparently this genre is called 'cosy horror,' creepy and spooky and atmospheric but not too full on or explicit. I am a huge horror fan, the more terrifying the better, but this book was a fantastic palate cleaner.
The Twisted Dead is the 3rd in a series, which I didnt realise when I requested it from Netgalley (My bad- it says #3 on the cover), and I wouldnt usually jump in this late in the game, but it was thorougly enjoyable and I understood everything that happened. Of course, there had to be a few info dumps just to get people like me who dont pay attention to serialised books to undersrand what was happening, but this definitely didnt detract from the pacing or the mood.
The supernatural elements of this book were strong, but also had some thriller vibes as one of the subplots. Personally I wasnt as interested in this element of the story, but I was well and truly down for the ghosty parts, and I eagerly look forward to the next book in the series.

By nature, I am not a huge fan of series but I excitedly await new installments in this series! The Gravekeeper series is what I like to call “cozy horror”. It’s just the right blend of spooky and endearing without being sleep with the lights on scary. I feel like it’s Darcy Coates at her best. I love the paranormal elements of a main character who sees ghosts mixed with the cozy element of her loyal crew of friends both human and spirit that help her right wrongs and solve mysteries. Each book in the series wraps up with a very satisfactory ending that still compels me to await the next installment. If you’re coming off a spooky vibes high and want to mix in a little cozy, give this series a try!
Much thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC. For the book synopsis please see post description

Thank you so much Netgalley, Darcy Coates and Poisoned Pen Press for letting me read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my third book I've read by Darcy and really like her writing and the spooky, creepy atmospheres she give the readers in her stories.

I like The Twisted Dead and happy to read it this Halloween weekend.
I am though more of a plot kind of reader and this is more character driven, so my final rate landed on 3 ⭐.

I am in love with this series. Darcy does such an amazing job with writing these characters. Mason and Zoe are the best of friends and I wish I had them in my life. Kiera's story continues to keep me totally hooked and I am so excited to continue reading books in this series. Each story is different and intertwined at the same time and I love all the connections. I highly recommend this to fans of general fiction, horror, and thriller!

So this third book in the series had a little more action than the previous two, which was good. Unfortunately not good enough. I still think it's very cheesy, subpar to her usual work. I really hate Zoe. And so much of the plot is much too far-fetched. Also I have never seen someone overuse the word "sallow" so much. I might recommend these to someone who's looking for horror-lite. Maybe.

I've enjoyed Darcy Coates's work in the past, but this book seemed incredibly juvenile to me and not very spooky at all.

I love reading Darcy Coates so I was super excited to be able to read her newest. This book kept me turning the pages. Loved the story line behind it. Was definitely a different read than I usually do but fully enjoyed it.

3 stars.

This was my first Darcy Coates novel. I have been interested in her work for a while now so I am glad to have finally read a story by her.

This is book 3 in a series. I hadn't read the previous two and I do regret not doing so before I got to this. There were many things that I did not understand because I realised they were references to things that had taken place in books 1 and 2. But I did not let that factor into my star rating. If you want to read this book, I highly suggest reading the first two books first.

I quite liked this story. The characters were likeable, particularly Mason and Zoe. The story line was interesting and I can clearly see why Darcy's books are so popular. She knows how to write! There were some parts, just a small few, that I felt weren't interesting but for the majority, the events kept me wanting to see what would happen next.

So why 3 stars and not 4. Well, because while I enjoyed this, I didn't love it. I am definitely interested in reading more from her and will be in the future.

Darcy Coates writes ghost stories like no one else. I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of this one and when I realized it was the third in a series, I read the first two first!
Keira, the amnesiac heroine and her friends help ghosts pass on in this atmospheric series full of spooky creatures and quirky humans!

Special thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and NeTGalley for a copy of this advanced reader copy of The Twisted Dead by Darcy Coates.

This is the 3rd installment in the Gravekeepers series by Darcy Coates. It's a horror novel about a girl who doesn't remember her past but can see ghosts and knows she is being hunted.

It's marketed as adult horror, but it could easily be a YA horror. It is very easy to read and fast-paced.

I love all of Darcy Coates books and this one is great. It comes out in February of 2023.

Now I just have to wait impatiently on book #4.

I think this is my favorite so far! The story is great and we finally get to find out a little more information about who Keira is. I’m really hoping the next book will find Keira and Mason exploring a relationship, you can feel the spark between them!

I didn’t realise this was the third book in a series BUT it didn’t matter. I will still go back and read the first two, however this is a complete story in its own right and the author does a good job of telling you what you need to know. Overall this was fun, creepy and humorous. The perfect winter night read.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series of books. I love all the characters right down to the cat. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Henry and Dane too.
I liked that we have some progression in Kiera's history with finding out who the group that is chasing her are and possibly why their chasing her.
I can't wait for the next one, maybe I'll just reread the whole series!

I love this series and this book is no exception. The "Scooby Gang" of Keira, our ghost-sensing protagonist, and her two new friends continue to delight as they try to figure out her powers, her past, and this installment's mysteries. However, there is a major dis-continuity in this book from the last and it kept bothering me during the read . In book 2, the vans belonging to the evil corporation were black and in this book they are white (and it is mentioned over and over). Unfortunately, that kept me from rating this one as high as the previous two because it kept pulling me out of the story.

More fun adventures for Keira, Mason, and Zoe! ‘One step at a time.’ This one picked up right where The Ravenous Dead left off. Even though it had been awhile since I read The Ravenous Dead, my memory was quickly brought back to the story. I liked meeting Dane and seeing Keira try to help him. I also liked the hints of her previous life. Another good one by Darcy Coates. Thank you, NetGalley, for this ARC. I thoroughly enjoyed it ! 😊

Okay when I picked this one up, I was unsure what I was getting into as it was described as a cozy horror book. I had no clue what that meant. If you’re old enough to remember the movie Casper – it is just like that.

Keira is just trying to live a normal life as a graveyard undertaker. Problem is she can see ghosts and spirits and they are everywhere. One night she receives an invitation to the local reclus’s estate, and when she arrives, she is shocked at what she finds. The spirits are eating him alive. Keira sets off to try to sever the ties between the living and the dead and freeing her new friend in the meantime. Will she succeed or will she and everyone else be in danger?

This was the third book in the series, but I didn’t feel like it had to be read in order – it stood on its own nicely. Overall, I would say if you have read any other of the authors books and enjoyed them – then you will likely enjoy this one as well. The book is very atmospheric, and you do feel transported into the characters world – but I learned that cozy books are just not for me. I enjoy a little more depth to my books. This was a lovely comforting way to end the spooky month of October.

This one is out Feb 7th of next year so give it a shot if you’re in for a cozy horror book. Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher, @poisonedpenpress for my advanced e-arc in exchange for this honest review.

This series keeps getting better. The Twisted Dead is book 3 in the series and see's Keira and her friends up against more strange problems.
This book is eerie and keeps you on the edge of your seat and is very hard to put down. Darcy Coates is a firm favourite horror author of mine, and I can't wait until the next book in the series is out.
