Wow! I love this kind of book. For a while, I really thought I was listening to two separate stories. I love how Unger brings it all together in the end. This was an ending I tried to anticipate but never saw it coming. Great suspense and conclusion.

The narrator, Vivienne Leheny, was wonderful. Her calm voice increased the suspense of portions of the story. She provided some variance in her tone in order to distinguish between characters.

This has multiple storylines and POVs. Too many of both. The story isn't very scary and doesn't get interesting until about the half-way mark. The ending is satisfying to a degree and some of the plot elements are thought-provoking: How much biology influences the person we become and how many are culpable when a there is a crime. The audiobook narrator did an excellent job but the multiple POVs and confusing timelines make an audio format less than ideal. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of the audiobook

We are at the start of spooky reading season and what better way to jump in than with three couples that head into the secluded woods to spend the weekend at a luxurious cabin. They will have gorgeous views and decadent accommodations. They are here for a relaxing weekend so what could possibly go wrong?

Told in alternating timelines and parallel timelines between past and present, secrets start to be revealed and people start to question how well they know those closest to them.

Go into this book with nothing more than this. The less you know the more enjoyable it will be! This was a twisty, dark locked-room mystery/thriller that will have you guessing until the end.

The audiobook was great! Vivienne Leheny really enchanced the experience and brought the characters to life!

A weekend getaway turns deadly in this latest thriller from Lisa Unger. This is a locked room mystery where everyone is a suspect and you do not know who to trust. I was captivated by the story and the setting was perfect. There was a lot to unravel as the story unfolded, past secrets, lies and deception. I enjoyed it but the premise was a little far fetched for me. Solid thriller, worth the read.
The narrator did a good job with the story

Unfortunately, this book just wasn't for me. The setup sounds like a fun, locked-room mystery with three couples heading off to a secluded luxury cabin for a weekend of downtime. The problem is that it is not fun nor an actual locked-room mystery since extraneous characters show up like a creepy host for the cabin who ends up adding nothing to the story and then some other random people. The characters in the house aren't much better as they are either cardboard or hideous humans so that the only one I cared about was Hannah and even she couldn't decide if she was a dishrag or a tough girl. The structure was also a mess with too many timelines from too many different characters bouncing back and forth in time which didn't help build any suspense in the cabin at all. There were parts of the story that I liked, just not enough of them, and the narrator was good. Fair warning, there are instances of rape, abuse, suicide, and misogyny in this book. Thank you to Park Row Books, Harper Audio, and NetGalley for the early listen for my honest opinion. I really wish I had liked it more.

Listening to this on audiobook was awesome!

The story was gripping, and I thought I had it figured out from the beginning but I was mostly wrong. At first, I was quite lost by the sheer amount of characters perspectives. But as the story moved along, I loved that my brain was trying to figure out who belonged where within the storyline. In the end, I had a few questions, but nothing that ruined the story.

Overall, this was a great thriller, and I really enjoyed listening to it. I would definitely recommend this one, I think it's going to be quite popular in the thriller world of books.

The audiobook Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger is appropriately evocative and creepy. I adore stories set in remote cabins, and Lisa Unger does not disappoint with this unsettling murder mystery.  Vivienne Leheny, a gifted voice actress, narrates the audiobook. The voices of the narrators immerse you in the story and increase the suspense.

In an opulent cabin secluded away in the woods, three couples get together for the weekend. All six people are hiding something, but one is out for blood. Who is responsible for the terrifying threat that is about to materialize?

Thanks NetGalley and Harper Audio for providing this wonderful audiobook!

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger was great! A spooky psychological thriller with multiple character POV's and alternating timelines. I thought the plot was intriguing and it kept me entertained throughout. An unexpected mystery that you're sure to love! I highly recommend the audio version as well.

I don’t usually do this for arcs but I had to DNF this one at 50%. The plot was too disjointed and the characters were one dimensional. I was hoping for a spooky read for fall but this missed the mark for me.

Three couples rent a luxury cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway to die for in this chilling locked-room thriller by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Unger. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a fantastic job of keeping me hooked. This was definitely a unique story line to figure out who was the bad seed in the cabin. Good characters with many twists to this story. Loved it!!!

Wow!! Loved this psychological thriller and stayed up late a couple of nights devouring it.

Three couple go away for a getaway and problems unravel very quickly filled with deception, secrets and creepy situations. This story will keep you guessing on the direction!!

Told between alternating characters the story unfolds with a well written plot and to
many twists to count. I listed to the audio and enjoyed the narration.

. I think I will think twice about staying at an air b&b!!

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC of this novel. Unfortunately, it is not my cup of tea. It's supposed to be a psychological thriller about three couples getting away to a secluded cabin for a long weekend. However, it was just a convoluted mess of writing. There are so many characters/backstories to keep track of, too much frivolous detail, and uninteresting sub plotlines that seem to go nowhere.

I listened to the audio version of the book, so maybe that was part of the problem. This book had lots of potential and was the first I have read by Unger, which is why I requested it from Netgalley in the first place. But, it just was not an interesting read for me. :(

The book follows two story lines. First, a teenage boy's mother is murdered. His pursuit of the murderer through DNA leads him into a world of which he did not know. One which he would have rather remained unaware.

The second storyline is where the book draws it's title. As a Christmas gift a wealthy entrepreneur invites his sister and brother in law and another couple to a week of relaxation at a secluded cabin in the woods. Another mysterious gift was left for the family on Christmas day, DNA test kits. No one knew where they came from.

Vacation week arrives. The host of the property is an odd man who seems off put by his guests, leaving them wondering how he received such fabulous ratings for his service. A storm arrives, power lost trees down leaving them stranded. Naturally, mayhem begins. The story is narrated by the characters in turn, each revealing their own dark secrets. Much of this is misdirection by the author in order to keep the reader guessing in this "locked forest" mystery. In the end, the two storylines converge.

The storyline was little uneven as there were times that it seemed to loose momentum, I believe partly due to the changing POV. Each character was at a different point in the journey, so as it sped up for one, it would slow down for another,

The DNA aspect brings in an interesting dimension. The favorite nature versus nurture, being time tested, is a main theme.. Do you define yourself by the actions of those with whom you share DNA? What would you do for your family? How far would you go? Is family defined by DNA?

This is a fairly solid read, although a bit uneven at times, with some good original thoughts. A bitt brutal and bloody for the women characters, and oddly, mostly the women.

My thanks to NetGalley for the audio preview of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Solid story line, kept me guessing until about 3/4 of the way in. Relatable characters and I loved the way they intertwined with each other and yet maintained their own story throughout. There is one chapter near the end where one of the characters is narrating after death that I thought could have been done better. It seemed a bit cheesy like walking into the light kind of thing, but I did appreciate the goal Unger was trying to accomplish with it, wrapping up their part in the story with some personal reflections on the character’s actions. That being said, I did like the final chapters and getting to see the aftermath. I do wish there had been more aftermath with Bracken, but she did tie up his story line in a sense. All around another great psychological thriller from Lisa Unger.

Ooh this was a good one and I was totally in the dark for a lot of it!

There's so much to love about this novel! Multiple narrators, multiple timelines, family secrets, murders, secluded getaways, DNA testing, coverups, a ghost story, a peeping Tom, and so much more. The book is twisty and so many small details are unfurled through character.

I love books that keep me guessing. Even when I had a gut feeling about something, it took Unger spelling it out for me to really understand and see the big picture. How everything was revealed was really flawless as well. The mystery was slowly revealed throughout the novel and there was no unloading of information at the end topped off with a bow (such a pet peeve of mine!).

Some of the themes in this novel felt familiar but the execution was fresh and with so many storylines and side plots, the novel definitely felt unique. However, not all of the subplots felt all that necessary and really, I think the ghost element and host's story could have been pretty much eliminated. It was a long novel and I could see that being a negative for some readers.

The narrator, Vivenne Leheny, was exceptional. My only gripe was that the novel was actually told by several narrators and the audio only used one. While she did a great job tweaking her voice slightly for each character, I did really have to pay attention to catch who was narrating when and occasionally missed it and went through parts of chapters a little confused.

This is one I'll definitely recommend, particularly on audio. The audio really kept the suspense level high and it helped me digest the long chapters more seamlessly.

Thank you to Harper Audio, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and NetGalley for the copy.

Three couples go on a weekend trip to reconnect with their loved ones and hopefully with their partners. But things don't always go according to plan.
This book will leave you reconsidering booking any sort of vacation rental ever again! It truly gave me the creepy vibes but at the same time it was so intense especially at the end! The way the author weaved in genetics, testing, and found family is so good! The multiple POVs, were written in a way that showed the reader their thoughts, emotions, and dark secrets.

The narrator, Vivienne Leheny did a wonderful performance portraying all of the character's. At the beginning, I did need to play close attention between Hannah and Lisa narration.

The book was a bit slow at times, but pacing eventually picked up.
Be warned, don't read this book late at night. The creepy vibes may stay with you.

This book will stop you in your tracks. Right until the last page the reader is left wondering who and what is going to happen next. Great characters, strong plot and page turning non stop action

Telegraphed ending, lots of characters to keep track of. Dual timeline doesn't come together until the very end. Isolation trope, family vs friendship, a bit of eugenics discussion. Nearly everyone is unlikeable. Possibly better if converted to a Lifetime movie.

A perfect modern twist on the Christie classic premise. Wonderful twists and the narration will keep you well on your toes throughout!
