This was another enjoyable book in the Systema Paradoxa series. The characters were good, and the pacing was good. Plus educational section for another cryptid. Can't wait for the next in the series. #ThePlayofLight #NetGalley

Imagine beings that exist in other dimensions, and can be seen in ours but only at the edge of your vision. Some people are more apt to see them than others. And those that see, feel cursed.

I usually enjoy books by this author and this one was no exception. This is a long series and it's the second story I read.
It was entertaining and I enjoyed the plot and the world building.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

First to review this latest Systema Paradoxa creature feature.
This is my third read by the author, and I continue to remain unimpressed. Then author/reader chemistry just isn’t there. But, having that been said, this one is the best of the three.
Primarily, likely, due to my fondness for cryptozoology.
The author is actually one of the people behind eSpec books that publishes this series. And she chose to write about The Shadow People that go by many other names. Almost kinda sorta creature like.
I find the author to be prone to overwriting, although in this book that tendency is mostly (not entirely) reigned in. Overall, these series tends to have a certain “wham bam thank you m’am” quality to them and the author, to her credit, made an effort to elevate it. As a result, it reads like a more serious story, albeit one somewhat incongruent with the nature of the series.
Still fairy fun and still a quick read. Thanks Netgalley.
