This is a Women's Fiction. I really loved the main character, and I loved the wild ride this book takes you on. The only thing I did not love the big event that happens at the end of this book because I did not think it was needed. There was a lot that happened in this short book, but it was written well and well done. Another Danielle Steel book I enjoyed. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Random House Publishing) or author (Danielle Steel) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

The High Notes is an emotional novel about a little girl named Iris Cooper. Iris loves to sing. She sings to the radio in her dads truck when she's left in there for hours on end. Whether its 100° or 25° Iris is left in the truck. Then her dad gets this crazy idea to have her sing in a bar. Iris is so excited, she can't wait. Because of her incredible voice she kills it every night. Eventually its time to move on since that's what her dad does. This is the start of Iris's music career. When she gets older her dad sells her off to a horrible tour manager that works his artists to the bone. Iris hates it but loves the singing.
This book is just another example of how Danielle Steel pulls her readers in. Her characters are flawless. She makes us crave happiness for them. She makes us fall hard for their story so that when its over we can't forget them.

The High Notes by Danielle Steel is everything we have come to love from this author and more! From beginning to end, I enjoyed the story. Iris, the little girl who grew up in an environment not very suitable for a kid, neglected and taken advantage by her father to the successful singer that she became. I love how there is something for everyone in this story. Another hit from this remarkable author.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy. I felt on edge this entire book, as I know the author has no qualms about making happy endings or causing strife for her main character. I thought this was a pretty down time earth book with great character development; and proof that with motivation and determination, good things can happen.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This is the story of a singer and songwriter named Iris who goes from singing in a little bar at the age of 12 through her life to stardom. She is raised by her dad her uses her for her singing talents to get money. I really thought it was just okay but it did pick up about 80 percent through. Typical book by this author.

I was hooked from the first page! Danielle Steel is known for her way of wrapping an emotional situation around her reader's heart and not letting go and that's exactly what happens when we meet young Iris who can sing like an angel, but has a less than warm living situation. This book is about her journey through life both as a child and as a young adult when she first gets the chance to fly solo and spread her wings. Life isn't easy, but she shines throughout and holds steady until she gets the chance of a lifetime and the doors to a fulfilling life begin to swing open. I enjoyed every minute of her story and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a coming of age story with heartfelt characters and bits of intrigue and drama mixed in.

I really enjoyed The High Notes by Danielle Steel. Still written in her typical style, I found myself more invested in Iris Cooper's story more than other stories and characters that Danielle Steel has written. With the God given talent of being able to sing with a beautiful voice, Iris was forced to sing in clubs and bars when she was young. Her father would set up auditions and then he would pocket her earnings. With a dream of a better life, Iris eventually signs a record label. But she finds that life isn't always greener on the other side. Will she eventually see her life turn around and finally find the fame she once dreamed of? The High Notes will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I recommend this book for a short, wonderful read.

The High Notes
After reading "The High Notes" by Danielle Steele I thought about that old saying, "If you have lemons, make lemonade". There were a lot of lemon in this story for Iris Cooper.

There were so many different emotions in this story. There are places I cried, felt anger and was always rooting for Iris. I love the strong characters in the story. I was engulfed in the storyline and it was a page-turner.

I am gladly giving this book a 5 out of 5

I am recommend this book to friend, family and others

I received this complimentary copy from the publisher for a honest review. All thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.

Not your typical Danielle Steel novel. The High Notes tells the story of Iris Cooper, whose father dragged her around singing in local dive bars while she was just a child. As she gets older, she can still hit the high notes and has a wonderful singing voice. When her latest tour manager continues to berate her and the other stars, she leaves him and starts to travel to New York to meet with a new manager. In Jackson Hole, she connects with other singers and ends up traveling to New York with Boy, another twenty-something whose childhood was just as bad as Iris's. In New York, Iris and Boy see what the good life has to offer when they meet with a new management company that knows how to treat them correctly.

A great story of standing up for yourself and knowing what is right and how to survive.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine. If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I think I cried for the last 40 pages of the book.

I was immediately addicted to this story. I couldn’t read it fast enough, and yet, I never wanted it to end. Iris quickly wormed her way into my heart and I wanted to know every detail of her life, which Danielle did a fantastic job of sharing with us all. We watch her grow and change and bust her butt for everything in her life. Iris’s relationships with the staff at Harry’s Bar, Patti, Boy and Clay shaped the person she became, so much more than the negative relationship she had with her father.

Iris Cooper has a beautiful voice and is able to hit all the high notes. At 12 years old her father convinces a bar owner in Texas to let her perform for his customers. The crowd is stunned by her voice. Her father exploits her talent and uses the money for booze and women. She finally get a manager but he exploits her and treats all of the performers horribly. She finally gets her big chance but still has to fight her father and her first manager. Wonderful story of strength and courage to fight for what you want!

Danielle Steel's books always revolve around strong women and the pressures life put on them to make them so strong. This is no exception. Her careful character development builds a movie in our minds until we see our happily ever after brought home.
Iris loves to sing and has always received compliments on her voice. As another one of his money making schemes, her father convinces a bar owner to let her sing, at the age of 12. As her father/manager continues to travel from state to state, booking her where ever they land, Iris's singing becomes her unly escape from her life struggles. But, she can and will continue to sing until she becomes famous.

As always, Danielle Steel is in a class all by herself. Her books are "must" reads for anyone who loves a bumpy road to happily ever after story.

What an awesome story! I so did not like Iris's father, he needed to be taken out back and taken care of for treating his daughter that way. But, as they say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger and everything he did made her into a strong woman. Great ending, I loved how she stepped up to do what was right for her friend. Wonderful HEA and something I know I'll read over and over again.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is based on an ARC from NetGalley, courtesy of the publisher.

It was a bit of a frazzling day so being able to immerse myself in the world of Danielle Steel was just what I needed.
Iris came from nothing but she has a voice that could bring down the house. Exploited by her wayward father and bad managers, she did the tour circuit for years until she escaped. And was on her way.
Iris gets her happy ending and my day turned out well so the parallel was good.

Danielle Steel never disappoints and this book was so enjoyable because of her character development. Iris is just so lovable and reading about her being taken advantage of by her father and music agents was hard to read but made you realize what a strong person she is. Reading about her hard work paying off was so gratifying. Then reading about how things can change the course of your life/career and are completely out of your control. The saying that you can only control your reaction to the things that happen to you, ia so true. Beautiful story! I felt like I witnesses the rise of a star, from very humble, hard beginnings.

I loved this book the main protagonists highs, and lows were very extreme. Music, friendship and family or lack there of dominated. Also proves that hard work and perseverance pays off. The ending , well, it disappointed but in a good way if that makes sense, you have to read for yourself.
Thank you to Netgalley, Random House Ballantine, Delacorte Press and the Author, Danielle Steel for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have come to rely upon Danielle Steel books to be my escape from reality. This book provided that for me for most of the book. In the age of so many mass shootings I think there should have been a warning with the book because for me, and I am assuming others who have been personally affected by a shooting, it made it difficult to finish the book. I did enjoy the book and the story of Iris Cooper. Her relationship with her dad and her singing career successes and failures kept me reading the book.

A few years ago, I rediscovered Danielle Steel's novels. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The High Notes, which has become one of my favorite of Ms. Steel's recent books. The novel is a feel good book. We meet the heroine, Iris Cooper, when she is 12 years old and is being raised by her father, who is an alcoholic, abusive and neglectful of his daughter. Iris is a talent young girl who sing and is able to hit "The High Notes" . Her father finds her two agents who are both abusive and Iris manages to free herself from their hold on her. She finds Clay Maddox a loving and generous man who manages musicians. Her life begins to change. Iris triumphs and becomes a star. If you love happy endings and stories of women who triumph after being abused. The High Notes is for you! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
