I had high hopes for this book, but it was a struggle to get through. I had a hard time getting into it, and thought the love triangle was kind of weird. I loved JoJo and Seamus though, they were by far the best parts.

Not much to say about this one other than it's a slow burn, and I think some romcom fans will enjoy it. Not great, not terrible.

I wanted to like this book more, but there were a few things that knocked the stars down for me. First, This book had so much potential to be super fun, but as it went on it just got more annoying. The characters became too cartoony for me. Kat was so frustrating in not seeing what was right in front of her and trying to make something work when she had zero chemistry. Poor Mick deserved better the whole time. That said, if there were books following Kat's friends I would not hesitant to read it.

This book was fine. I'm not mad I read it, but it was a solid 3 stars.

This was a really cute read. After being dumped by her boyfriend and stuck with his pet hedgehog, florist Kat is determined to find her Mr. Right. While dropping off some flowers for a funeral, she meets Mick, whose family owns the funeral home. Kat and Mick become fast friends and he agrees to help her with her quest to find Mr. Right. The attraction is there for both of them but Kat decides that Mick is too similar to her past boyfriends and makes herself a list of qualities that her Mr. Right should have and she sets her sights on Mick's older brother, Joe, as he she thinks he checks all the boxes. Mick agrees to help her even though he likes her because he wants to see Kat be happy, especially since he thinks that he needs to be concentrating on figuring out what his role in the family business is instead of pursuing a relationship.
Kat has some business opportunities come up that means she is spending more and more time with Mick and his siblings and she begins to realize that maybe Mick is who she is looking for all along.
This was an adorable read, lots of fun side characters and situations and two people who are just trying to figure out what they are doing with their careers and their lives (plus who doesn't love a cute pet hedgehog?)

Florist Kat and therapist Mick meet cute at the funeral home that Mick's family runs. Kat has had a slew of bad relationships and makes a list of what she wants in a man. Mick is a wonderful man who has insecurity issues and lets others decide what his role will be. There are lots of rom com mentions and madcap antics but I just couldn't get into it because I couldn't connect with the heroine. Kat seemed whiny about her circumstances without taking much responsibility for them and she held Mick to ridiculous standards. She made him jump through hoops constantly including a trick so awful at the end that I really wanted to Mick to just run away. I have loved prior books by this author so I think that this is just a one-off. The set up and side characters were really fun so I'm giving it a solid three stars.

Overall I did really enjoy this book. I loved the banter between Kat and Mick and enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom. There were many funny parts in this book and the secondary characters really added to the fun as well.

I found the writing to be a bit choppy at times, skipping over large chunks of time, or jumping from scene to scene too quickly.

I also found the dynamic between Kat and Mick to get old by the end. I understand both perspectives when it came to changing their relationship from strictly friends to more, but it was so clear that they wanted to be with each other, that the misunderstandings between them started to get annoying.

The lack of proper communication between Mick and Kat is exactly why so many people dislike the friends-to-lovers trope. That trope is one of my top favorites and even I got incredibly frustrated with them. It was unnerving that they STILL didn't talk about their feelings after their first sexual encounter! But the moment I almost DNF'd this book was when Kat got mad at Mick for RESPECTING HER WISHES and leaving when she told him to. This seems like the kind of thing that justifies when men think "no doesn't always mean no" and I think it's problematic.

I won't be sharing my review outside of Netgally because the positive features don't outweigh the problematic one.

this was cute and had some really funny and sweet moments. however, I just also felt like the ending was a touch overdramatic. the miscommunication trope isn't my favorite, but it is heavy with this book and I felt like the characters both were just not compatible when the slightest problem came up.

I still enjoyed it, I just feel like the ending could've been reworked a little bit. still fun and cute.

Too Wrong To Be Right was one of those book that I thought I’d enjoy solely based on the cover (I should’ve done more research), and I was a bit disappointed. To be fair, friends to lovers is not my favorite trope so that’s more my own personal preference. Our main character gets dumped at the very beginning and I really wanted to get on board with finding her dream man but it became a bit drawn out and frustrating. I couldn’t relate to her as much as I wanted to so I wasn’t able to fully support her story. Although, the hedgehog was adorable and really saved this book for me. Mick had so much potential to be a great love interest and for the most part I really enjoyed him as a character. However, I didn’t really like that he was a tiny bit of a pushover and essentially did whatever Kat wanted. They did have pretty good chemistry and banter through their slow burn relationship which kept me engaged. Overall, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I’d hoped but I can see why other people enjoyed it.

I thought this book was really well written! I have not read any books by this author before, but I really enjoyed her writing style and how she molded the story. It's my favorite kind of romance - a greeeeat meet-cute, (seriously, I was DYING!), lighthearted, lovable MMC, and a flawed-but-grows-on-you FMC. It's not all hearts and rainbows though, so get ready for that!

This book had one of the most interesting meet-cutes I've ever read. I laughed a lot with this book, but I found Kat to be too focused on her own idea of "perfect"--to the extent she wants to date Mick's brother (who has to be one of the most boring character's I've had the pleasure of reading). Mick was sweet, everything you could ask for really but I felt that he got treated like a doormat by Kat most of the book. The hedgehog, salty parrot, and the phallic crochet was the best part.

Too Wrong to Be Right is the first book that I have read by Melonie Johnson and it won’t be the last, if this very entertaining story is anything to go by. I loved reading Kat and Mick’s very own sweet rom-com. I absolutely fell in love with Seamus, the cockatoo, he was so funny and adorable that he stole the show any time he was in a part of the story. I loved Mick and Kat from the very beginning and was rooting for them the whole time.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in need of a romance with some laugh out loud moments thrown into the mix.

This book had one of the most unique and unexpected meet-cutes I’ve ever read! It had me cracking up and I still smile thinking about how bizarre it was! The storyline was cute and I liked the pairing of the funeral home and florist careers with our main characters coming together. JoJo the hedgehog was the cutest and I wish I could have seen her in the adorable outfits! The romance was a slow burn. I’m not a huge fan of the particular romance trope in this one, so that did take away a bit from my overall enjoyment. I thought Mick was a sweet guy, but I didn’t love that he let Kat walk all over him and I felt we really didn’t get much of a backstory on him like we did for the female lead. I wasn’t a fan of Kat, I thought she was careless with other people’s feelings and how despite the instant chemistry she had with Mick, she held fast to her Mr. Perfect expectations which just didn’t make sense to me. By the time we got to the third act breakup, I really could have cared less if they resolved it, which was disappointing. I really wanted to love this one but unfortunately it just wasn’t my favorite.

I really like the romance in this book, and love Melonie Johnson's writing style. It was such a light hearted enjoyable read. The characters interactions together were very cute but after awhile it had me cringing at some of their interactions.

My biggest issue with this book is that that Kat was a very unlikable character. I get it that she suffered a huge heart break and she had to protect herself but I kept wanting to get this girl into therapy stat! There were so many issues with her that made me feel uncomfortable. I also wished that Mick wasn't such a push over and that he stood up for his self!

By the end I found that I wasn't routing for the characters to stay together and I almost wish they didn't. The third act break-up was incredibly painful and I wish I could erase it from my mind! If the writing was so good I would have DNF it.

The cover is right up my alley and is what drew me in to this book. However once I read the story it wasn’t my favorite. The main character is a bit problematic and not the most relatable for me. Overall wasn’t terrible, but would not go out of my way to recommend.

I was initially attracted to this book because of the cover. I’m a sucker for a flowery cover. It turned out to be a laugh-out-loud funny friends to lovers romance between a florist and a psychologist helping with his family’s funeral home.

Things I loved: the banter, funny animals (especially a foul mouthed bird), sweet friendships, sizzling chemistry, looking for healing from past pain.

Some of the conflict in the novel came from misunderstandings, which were fairly believable, but still a tiny bit frustrating. I took off one star from the rating for the emotional rollercoaster it became towards the end. I still really enjoyed the way two characters who seemed to be undervalued by the people around them, found appreciation and love from each other for being their authentic selves.

Flowers, a fear of funerals, a surprise hedgehog, and a sassy cockatoo… what else could a girl want? Too Wrong to Be Right by Melonie Johnson is a super cute slow-burn romance. The characters were lovable and their hijinks were endearing.


After yet another breakup, romantic Kat swears off dating guys who are “her type.” Instead, she makes a list of what criteria a good boyfriend would have. Mick doesn’t seem to fit these criteria, but his brother sure does. The only problem: Kat doesn’t seem to like Mick’s brother as much as she likes Mick.


If you are looking for a slowburn (we’re talking first kiss like half way through level) with fun characters, and witty banter then this book may be for you!

My personal favorite line: “Thinking while scowling. That’s brooding.“

This was a fun story of Kat and Mick and their meet-cute that grows into a lot more. I really liked the main characters in this but felt like there was tension missing between them. The question of "why can't they be together" felt like it got a little lost along the way, which made this feel a little more low-stakes than I think the author wanted. And there were a lot of side characters that I wish had gotten more focus at times. And a "will she date the brother" moment that also felt like it should have gotten more attention.

Really, I wish the author had pulled back a little more. Kat and Mick are adorable and fun and I felt like we got a lot of "we have to just be friends" and not a lot of the why and so I enjoyed the ending, but it didn't feel as satisfying as I had hoped. That being said, I'd definitely read more from this author. Do the siblings get stories? I'd love to see who MK would end up with.

This was an emotional and sweet love story. This was a great rom com! I recommend this book to all the rom com lovers! Thank you NetGalley and St Martins for the ARC!

I found this story super cute right out of the gate. I'm not sure if I was just in the right mood or what. I skimmed a few of the 3 star reviews on goodreads and agreed with getting annoyed with Kat and Mick for different reasons (K ignoring what's clear, M for not using his own knowledge base to think things through)..

AND YET... I was enchanted. I think I enjoyed it so much because I just kept wanting to know what would happen next. I was excited for their first kiss and would have died happy with more explicit scenes.

There are a few errors (I know, I know -not edited/completely proofed) but there were two places where sentences just weren't finished? Just an FYI really.

This book sounded like everything I wanted, but I felt that it didn’t quite hit the mark. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Kat. She annoyed me a bit and I didn’t really click with her.

The book was still a lighthearted and easy read. Overall, I liked it but didn’t love it.
