I was hoping for a bit more inspiration/motivation especially since I was reading it when I was actually struggling in life. It was standard daily guidance but nothing outstanding.

If you have dealt with a narcissist or anyone who has abused you in anyway this devotional is for you. Little tiny 2 minute reads to give you insight into why you are the way you are, whether codependent, a people pleaser, insecure, zero confidence etc and then a prayer at the end to how to apply what you've learned. Even if you suspect you're the one who's a narcissist this will let you heal from the place that perhaps created this behavior and allow you to be better.

Having Courage
Erika Nelson, has presented a well-known fact that there are so many individuals, who find themselves in an abusive relationship, and stay there until something devastating happen. The author has provided information indicating that even if the abused individual leave the abusive partner, at some point they return back to that partner.
The author has written this journal in hope of helping survivors of narcissistic abuse and toxic relationships understand that they are not alone, and to offer them support and validation in the process of freeing themselves.

This is a different type of yearly devotional than I am used to, but the topic intrigued me, so I dove right in. It's set up to read by each day of the year without letting you know the subject matter that you're going to cover. I think this is a toss up, depending on where you are in your journey. It takes things one day at a time. January, for instance, is all about getting away from the narcissist and how to reach out and/or search for real ways to help you immediately. February is almost like a check in point, now that you're away from this toxic person, here's how to deal with the fallout, including whether or not your emotions are real and/or valid. March helps you start putting one foot forward in your growing process, and it just continues like that through the rest of the book. So much information delivered in short and sweet bites that one can process in a manageable way. Very well done!
*I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. This review is my own opinion*

This is probably a wonderful, helpful book for many people recovering from the mental/emotional abuse of a relationship with a narcissist. It's clear that the author is both a clinical/academic expert AND writes from personal experience, and the text is full of insight and helpful suggestions/exercises.
What didn't work for me was the structural conceit of the yearly calendar. That felt like a confusing hurdle to get over in order to take in the information in the book. I kept getting hung up on the fact that my days weren't congruent with the days cited in the book, and thinking about, was I supposed to wait til the new year to start, and then read only one day at a time for a whole year? Imagining how my experience of the book would have been different, and would it have been better, more helpful, etc.
I fully recognize that this is probably something to do with a personality spectrum quality of ME, and the book is probably great for someone who isn't distracted/caught up in structural details like that.

I am really loving this book so far. I was in a six-year toxic relationship and still struggle with self-esteem and self-worth since that relationship ended in 2016. I love reading these each day! It's motivation, love, and healing. Highly recommend!

A great uplifting book that comes in handy for survivors of narcissistic abuse and toxic relationships. Great content!

I’m really looking forward to reading this daily, because I’m in need of that daily inspiration but this was great!

Interesting, uplifting and eye opening. This book will help transform and heal you through your journey if you take the advice to heart. Very helpful. Can be read all at once or daily. Easy to understand. Very helpful. Highly recommend. Thank you NetGalley for an early opportunity to read!
