Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. As always this author has done it again. Another wonderful book to get lost in

This was a lovely little story. It was about finding hope in darkness and living your life again. I enjoyed it immensely.

A lovely heartwarming story about Jane who after leaving the army starts working for Veronica, an author in the beautiful setting of Venice. The story begins with what happened to Jane whilst on active service which makes it very clear as to why she wants a fresh start. Veronica has become a bit of a recluse since her husband died and everyone is concerned that she’ll stay a recluse and not write again. Jane is employed to be her PA and with encouragement from Jane Veronica slowly starts to improve. Jane has an instant attraction to Veronica’s son but is it reciprocated? The characters were all very easy to connect with, Dino the dog was a bonus and the romantic setting of Venice just finished it off. I found this quite a thought provoking read and in my opinion it sensitively handled the topics of grief and war. I am a huge fan of this author and as soon as I see another book I know I am going to love it. This book did not disappoint.

The story was unique, quite an achievement as the author has written a lot of books thus far. The characters were all very well written, and I connected with them all throughout the story. The addition, of course, of a Labrador is the authors signature and one I look forward to each time.

I was so engrossed in this book I read it in one sitting, a sign of a good read.
