I thought this was really fun, but I would have like the pacing on the romance to go a little bit slower and to give the characters a chance for more development and growth.

Im going to be honest, Carla’s book was not my favorite. In the first 2 books, I found the characters to be well developed and grew as the story went on. I could not empathize with Carla, as much as I wanted to. Eamon was a sweetheart from the get go and saved the story. Overall could have done without this book in the storyline.

I really have enjoyed the Beck Sisters series and the way that Trish Doller has handled difficult topics and loss. However, I will admit this was my least favorite of the 3. Well written still but felt out of place in the series (though I enjoyed the updates on the other characters).

Oh how I loved this book! This story captivated me right away with it’s steam and strong main character (as well as the gorgeous, kind Irishman). But I found myself in tears at the end, deeply moved by Carla’s journey. This is a wonderful story that I read in one sitting!

Off the Map by Trish Doller follows Carla Black, whose life motto is “here for a good time, not for a long time.” She’s been travelling the world on her own in her vintage Jeep Wrangler for nearly a decade, stopping only long enough to replenish her adventure fund. She doesn’t do love and she doesn’t ever go home. Eamon Sullivan is a modern-day cartographer who creates digital maps. His work helps people find their way, but he’s the one who’s lost his sense of direction. He’s unhappy at work, recently dumped, and his one big dream is stalled out—literally. Fate throws them together when Carla arrives in Dublin for her best friend’s wedding and Eamon is tasked with picking her up from the airport. But what should be a simple drive across Ireland quickly becomes complicated with chemistry-filled detours, unexpected feelings, and a chance at love - if only they choose it.

I always fly through Trish Doller's romances. I think they are the perfect quick reads that can always get me out of a reading slump. Definitely recommend for romance lovers.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

When I first read Float Plan when it came out, I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. What I on first glance thought was a cute romance, had some unexpectedly deep and heartfelt themes. Off the Map was similar. While I don’t quite like this one as much as Float Plan, this was definitely my second favorite of the series. It was funny, moving, and interesting in all of the best ways. I found Carla and Eamon to be wonderfully relatable and was rooting for them immediately. I think I am hooked on anything in this series and can’t wait for more.

This was my least favorite book in this series, though I still liked it. It covered some deep topics and was interesting, but it got so steamy right away, and the instant love just isn't my favorite

I love Trish Doller's Float Plan and was excited to learn Carla's story in Off the Map. Carla, the funny, supportive best friend has some serious trials of her own. And when she travels to Ireland to attend a wedding, she meets Keene's brother Eamon and a light hearted relationship moves the couple on a Leap Year type adventure across the Emerald Isle. Good writing, good characters and great fun. I loved this one. Highly recommend.

What a cute little story to take me out of my reading slump! I unexpectedly LOVED Float Plan when I read it a few summers back, so when I saw a book from the series available on NetGalley I knew I had to read it!

This story follows Carla and Eamon as they head to Carla's best friend's wedding to Eamon's brother. What was supposed to be a simple drive across Ireland turns into quite the adventure.

I laughed, I cried and felt all the feels reading about these two falling in love. A big part of this novel was Carla coming to terms with her Dad's dementia diagnosis and getting closure. I skipped book 2 in this series, but I fully plan on going back to give it a read!

First of all - I grabbed this book when I first dove back into NetGalley and had zero restraint. I received an email with a few romance novels available and I requested them all. Even though I don’t particularly like this cover. (I think it’s the fact that her hair makes it look like it takes place in the 1920s or something, when it does not.) I do appreciate that the cover is actually a scene from the book. That’s not super common.

With that out of the way, this book has a lot of heart. Carla has a lot of baggage (despite traveling with very little baggage! Haha) Her father, the only parent she has, is slowly fading away from her, losing his memory to dementia or Alzheimer's (sorry, I can’t remember which.) He doesn’t want her to watch him suffer, so he tells her to keep traveling—which was their thing—and see as much of the world together as they could. He doesn’t want her to watch him waste away and forget her.

When Carla arrives in Ireland for her BFFs wedding, the grooms brother, Eamon, picks her up. And they almost immediately jump into bed, which is something I absolutely abhor in romance novels. Buuut they won me over in the end. What starts as a fling, becomes so much more once the pair get to know one another.

Eamon is Carla’s opposite. While she’s home, she works as a bartender saving all her money to travel the rest of the time. Eamon has a well paying desk job, and has never given himself the chance to travel, despite his desire to do so. Despite being so opposite, they connect. And experiencing that relationship build up was a joy. And, as with any good book, both of these characters have to face the things in their lives that are pulling them down and make some big choices.

Bonus points for all the descriptions of Ireland. That’s a location on my bucket list, for sure!

So, do I recommend this book? Well, I plan to read books 1 and 2 in the series, so what does that tell you? 😉

Eh? Idk I probably could have done without this book in the series, tbh.

1) Carla was the fucking worst
2) Eamon deserves the world
3) the ending just …didn’t work for me? It didn’t feel realistic and instead more of a convenient way for things to work out for Carla
4) the dementia rep was so well done
5) I loved seeing Anna and Keane again, but definitely not enough of Mason and Rachel

Long story short, it was fine? I just know that if Carla had been my maid of honor, I would have thrown her off a cliff. I just did not vibe with her AT ALL and it kind of ruined the whole book.

The bull and the sheep and Eamon were funny though.

(I did have an arc of this from months ago but I finally got around to it, thanks Libby audio lol)

"Off the Map" is an engaging and heartwarming adventure that skillfully blends romance, self-discovery, and the thrill of the unknown. Carla's untamed spirit and Eamon's quest for purpose create a captivating narrative, marked by witty exchanges, moments of vulnerability, and an undeniable attraction that keeps readers captivated.

While the plot is compelling, there are occasional pacing hiccups, and certain character arcs could have been more deeply explored. Nonetheless, these minor flaws do not overshadow the overall charm of the story.

This novel reminds us that love often arrives when we least expect it, and that the journey itself can be as important as the destination. For those seeking an uplifting read with endearing characters set against the backdrop of Ireland's stunning landscapes, Carla and Eamon's adventure offers a delightful choice. "Off the Map" encourages us to seize life's unexpected opportunities, embrace the unfamiliar, and, perhaps, discover love in the most surprising of places.

I did not realise that this was Book 3 of a series and although i think this can be read as a stand alone it wasn't a book that worked for me.

Carla Black is heading to Ireland to attend her best friends wedding. She is being met in Dublin by the best man, Eamon, they choose a local pub to meet at, they'll spend the night at his place, and then he'll drive her across the country to Tralee where the wedding is being held.

At the pub the two instantly hit it off.

This was supposed to be a cute story but the characters didn't appeal to me. I couldn't connect to them and felt the whole story to be a tad superficial. I just didn't buy into how quickly their relationship progressed.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for sending a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and St Martins Press for a copy of Off The Map by Trish Dollar in exchange for my honest review.

I loved it! I’ve had this book on my TBR list for a while. I’m not really sure what took me so long to get to it. My first Trish Dollar book and most definitely not my last. It was funny. It was sweet. It was romantic. It was sad. Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down.

Carla Black was raised by her adventurous father, Biggie. Carla’s mother left them when Carla was a young girl. To keep her distracted, Biggie, a school teacher, would take Carla on different excursions and camping trips. As she gets older, Biggie gets diagnosed with dementia. He makes Carla promise to keep traveling the world without him.

Carla finds herself in a new adventure when she goes to Ireland to attend her best friends wedding. She meets someone who will change everything about her life and she will change everything about his.

I have absolutely loved this trilogy. So so much. Especially books 1 and 3 with the Irish men yes please please! Mason was fine in book 2 but he's not Irish. lol. This was fun and sweet and utterly delightful. And so fun to see everyone from books 1 and 2 gathered in one place!

The setting of this book really hit the spot for me. I love travel and seeing new places, and we had a quick 2.5 days in Ireland this summer, so I enjoyed that a good chunk of the book involved Carla and Eamon’s adventures on the emerald isle. We also got more of Anna and Keane (+ his family) as their wedding was the backdrop for the story. Much like Float Plan, Carla’s backstory will tug at your heartstrings. Her Dad’s health issues will be relatable to so many people. (I’m sad to say I’ve reached the age where a good chunk of our friend group discussions are now about aging family members and the trials and tribulations of that) I loved that the Defender and the Jeep were basically secondary characters in the book. That had me totally hooked. My only complaint is that I needed a bit more build in the chemistry. I felt like we almost jumped into that too fast. I needed a bit more preamble and feeling of that spark at the bar. Overall very much enjoyed, felt like a perfect summer vacation book.

Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin, for the ARC of Off the Map. What a cute love story set against a picturesque backdrop! This was a short book, more like a novella. Because of this, I felt the character development suffered. There is also Insta-love, so if that’s not your thing, this may be a miss for you. Overall, Off the Map is a sweet story filled with plenty of spice. A perfect read for someone experiencing wanderlust.
