Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin, for the ARC of Off the Map. What a cute love story set against a picturesque backdrop! This was a short book, more like a novella. Because of this, I felt the character development suffered. There is also Insta-love, so if that’s not your thing, this may be a miss for you. Overall, Off the Map is a sweet story filled with plenty of spice. A perfect read for someone experiencing wanderlust.

This reminded me of the plot of the first book in the series. Float plan. I adored it and recently re-read it. Sadly I read this soon after, and it was VERY similar to the point I was bored and felt like I had already read the story. Don't get me wrong, it's super cute, and I love Trish Dollers banter, cute meet-cutes, and the storylines she gives. However, this one wasn't hitting the boxes for me.

Off The Map
By Trish Doller

i absolutely adore anything that Trish Doller writes. I love the banter, the cutest meet cutes ever, and also the fleshed out characters that I grow to love as I read the stories. Thay are fun, heartfelt and characters with great back stories. Beck Sisters Books are some of my favorite romance reads.

Off The Map is one of those super charming stories that is romantic and spicy sprinkled with lots of chemistry and instalove is great too!

Read this and then get the entire series. its so fun and a great read.

Trish Doller has done it again with another story of the Beck Sisters. Carla and Eamon are thrown together as their closest people are tying the knot - Carla is the best friend/maid of honor and Eamon is the brother/best man. They immediately hit it off - and then set off on an adventure of their own. These characters are hard not to love and their story will make you laugh out loud and even bring a tear to your eye. Can’t recommend enough!

If you want a romance that’s well written, has depth, and also feels like you’re being wrapped in a warm hug, Trish Doller’s your gal. I’ve read her last three books and have absolutely adored them. ADORED. So much so that I read both The Suite Spot and Off the Map in one sitting. Off the Map is Doller’s latest, having been published in March, and it is a most perfect book to pick up if you need some proximity romance with a healthy dose of armchair travel.

Here’s the book’s description:
Carla Black’s life motto is “here for a good time, not for a long time.” She’s been travelling the world on her own in her vintage Jeep Wrangler for nearly a decade, stopping only long enough to replenish her adventure fund. She doesn’t do love and she doesn’t ever go home.
Eamon Sullivan is a modern-day cartographer who creates digital maps. His work helps people find their way, but he’s the one who’s lost his sense of direction. He’s unhappy at work, recently dumped, and his one big dream is stalled out—literally.
Fate throws them together when Carla arrives in Dublin for her best friend’s wedding and Eamon is tasked with picking her up from the airport. But what should be a simple drive across Ireland quickly becomes complicated with chemistry-filled detours, unexpected feelings, and a chance at love - if only they choose it.
I like the Doller’s romance novels aren’t all sunshine and rainbows. Don’t get me wrong, I will need some of that in my romances but she recognizes that life really isn’t all that sunny all the time. Her heroines (and usually heroes too) are dealing with a lot. In Carla’s case, she doesn’t have a steady career (she instead chooses to travel and cobbles work together when needed to pay for it) and her father has dementia. He can no longer travel so she’s doing it for the both of them but she’s also running away from her problems and real life. It’s because she’s running away that her current lifestyle is not sustainable and she has to do a lot of soul searching (without it being as airy fairy as that may sound) before she can come to terms with her life and what her next step needs to be. There is an absolutely heartbreaking moment in this book but the teeny silver lining is it allows Carla to make decisions solely for her while also, perhaps ironically, to create a potential future with Eamon.

This book is technically part of the Beck sisters series which started with Float Plan (review here) and carried on with The Suite Spot (review here). You don’t have to read those two before this one but I recommend it only because they’re both so amazing. I really enjoyed getting to see Anna and Keane again and seeing how their romance has carried on since Float Plan ended.

A bonus of this book is the armchair travel element as Carla and Eamon travel through Ireland on their way to Anna and Keane’s wedding. It was really fun being able to experience a part of the world I’ve never been to. I felt like I was right there with them as they were accidentally off-roading into a farmer’s field. (That is not something I need to experience whenever I do get to Ireland - just putting that out there.)

I loved both Carla and Eamon so I loved their romance. They were so good for each other and were able to balance each other as well. Eamon needed more adventure and spontaneity and Carla needed just a bit more of a plan and had to stop running from her problems. There were some steamy scenes and lots of really sweet ones, too. Theirs was a romance you couldn’t help but cheer for.

I loved Off the Map and am so glad I started reading Trish Doller’s books a few years ago. Her books are perfect for those who are looking for romances that are more than just a Happily Ever After. I highly recommend them!

Trish Doller is usually a must read for me so I was thrilled to get an ARC of her latest Off the Map. Unfortunately, unlike her other novels, this one felt like way too much too soon - I'd have liked more background on Eamon and Carla before we jumped straight into the romance, it felt like it distracted from the story that could have been sensational.

I look forward to future reads - maybe this one was just hit or miss for me!

Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Trish Doller for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was a four star read for me. The third book in the Beck Sisters series.

We follow Carla Black as she travels to Ireland for Anna's wedding. Upon her arrival she meets the brother of Anna's fiancé. Attraction and like are immediate with the two of them. The author takes us right along for the journey as they travel the Ireland countryside, with a few intentional and unintentional detours along the way. Both Carla and Eamon have moments of clarity and self discovery while they make their way to the wedding.

This is a delightful book with a Rom-Com feel to it. Perfect beach or vacation read. The author brings you into the story and the characters immediately, giving you the feeling you have known them your whole life.

This was a fun book! Carla is in Dublin for her best friend’s wedding. There she meets Eamon. This begins a little detour full of adventures. They navigate through some fun times until reality catches up with Carla.

This was my first book by this author, but I can’t wait to read her other books! Off the Map is the story of Carla Black, a woman who has been raised to always go where she wants to go, travel light and not look back. Her motto is “here for a good time, but not for a long time.” Until she meets Eamon Sullivan, wbo is supposed to drive her to the wedding of his brother and her best friend. Their instant connection exceeds anything either has experienced before and instead of heading across Ireland to participate in pre-wedding festivities, the two take a detour into the beautiful mountains and valleys of Ireland in a romance that makes even the most jaded of us swoon.
Whether it’s Ireland itself, Carla’s declining father Biggie and his wife Stella, or the Sullivan clan…to say nothing of Carla and Eamon’s adventure into love, you’ll find plenty of charm in this fun book. Thanks to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for this review copy.

This is the 3rd book in the Beck Sisters series although not actually about a Beck sister, but a friend of one of the sisters. Trish Doller delivers another cute, adventure filled romance novel. This one has far spicier open door scenes, so if that is not your cup of tea, you have been warned.

Overall a nice fluffy summer read with a little substance to keep you interested.

Thank you to St. Martin's and Netgalley for an advanced readers copy of this book for my honest review.

“Off the Map” is a wanderlust filled story that manages to be sweet and surprisingly spicy at the same time.

It is a lust at first sight/friends to lovers story that follows Carla, an avid traveler, on her journey to her best friend's wedding. While in Ireland, she meets Eamon and the two bond over adventures together. Carla and Eamon have an instant connection, and through it, are able to change the trajectory of each other’s lives.

“Off the Map” begs the question: Are we living the life we want or the one someone else wants for us?

A solid 4 star read!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for an early book review copy of this book.

“Off the Map” is being released March 7th 2023-Go check it out!

I thought this was pretty cute! Not quite as good as Float Plan, but good in its own right. I’m sure I had high expectations because I really loved Float Plan.

I want to shout from the rooftops how much I love this Trish Doller series. Can it never end? Can the Beck Sisters novels go forever? Can we find, like, 5 to 10 more hidden Beck sisters somewhere to tell their stories? And their friends, too? I can't get enough.

This was my first book by this author and I thought it was cute! I didn’t realize it was part of a 3 part book series; this one being book 3. I will read the other 2 for sure. Very light hearted cute romance book. All in all-a fun read. Thank you #Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was great and I am looking forward to reading more. The characters were well written and the story flowed well.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan for an advance copy to review.

This was my first book by this author, and when I selected it I did not realize it was book 3 of a series, and I believe that may be part of my lack of connection to these characters. The book was a little spicier than I had expected, not my personal preference, I don’t mind a little, but I don’t need to get the “whole picture “
Overall though not a bad read, I will likely go back and read the first two in the series.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced e-copy that I voluntarily reviewed.

I was very touch and go on this book for the first half, but the author won me back in the second half. The insta-love was a lot for me, and I found Carla to be a bit like that friend who studied abroad and made it her whole personality… BUT THAT SAID the father/daughter relationship is really at the heart of this novel and I did really appreciate that aspect of it. I gave it 3.75 on storygraph, but will round up to 4 here.

Major trigger warning for dementia, so take care if that’s something close to you.

Carla is a traveler.. she has been all over the world, documenting her trips on social media and for her father who has dementia and is unable to join her. On this trip, she is on her way to see her best friend get married. (Read Float Plan first if you’d like the back story). The fiancés brother is voluntold to pick up Clara upon arrival and bring them both to the wedding, hours away from the airport. The two however, have an immediate connection and wind up detouring and derailing, along the way. Each learns more about themselves and their lives too, by being with the other.

A highly satisfying story, with a good romance that doesn’t overwhelm the plot. I liked the pacing and the book length, as it didn’t have parts that were unnecessary or lacking enough detail. Off the Map allowed the characters to grow and develop, while also giving the reader something to think about.

I continue to love this series. Dollar does a fantastic job at creating characters who, while overcoming grief, experience such personal growth.
In “Off the Map,” we’re back in Ireland and I have a new Irish book boyfriend to swoon over.

Carla is in Ireland for Anna’s wedding (book 1 FMC). She is picked up by Eamons, Keane’s brother, who is in charge of getting them both to the wedding weekend. The two instantly hit it off. Carla isn’t held down by any rules and is only looking for a hookup. Eamon is the responsible one in his family, but has always dreamed of a life of adventure.
Their romance was very sweet, and I loved the road trip aspect of their journey.

The only downside - like with book 2 - is the ending felt so rushed. This story deserves an epilogue.

Recommended if you like:
-Ireland
-camping/outdoor adventures/road trips
-instalove
-best friend’s brother-in-law
-father/daughter relationships

CW: dementia, parental death, grief

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy. “Off the Map” is out now!

I usually don't like romance novels with a serious bent (especially dads with dementia) nor do I like insta love, but I LOVED "Off the Map"

Carla arrives for her best friend's wedding in Ireland and is immediately attracted to the groom's brother, Eamon, when he picks her up. Carla lives her life freely and encourages Eamon to do so as they romp through Ireland towards the wedding. Things take a more serious turn when Carla leaves Ireland and heads back to Florida to face her ailing father, but the story is still touching and interesting.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
