I'd never read any of Angela Lam’s work before, so I went in blind, and I'm glad I did. This book really exceeded my expectations, I loved it!

This author certainly knew how to hook the reader with this quote on the opening page.

‘𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. “𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿?” 𝗛𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝘂𝗽 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱. “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲?”

As soon as I read this, I knew I was in for a treat.

Now and Forever is a genuine, profound emotional portrayal of a middle-aged married couple whose passion has burned out, their connection has been tarnished in so many ways, and they have various problems as individuals and as a pair. I loved how the author didn't try to impose a resolution and ended it on bittersweet note.

So bad-the premise is interesting but the book itself, is so poorly written that a great premise cannot save it.

I would give this a zero but one will do for now. If you want to know what to NOT do in a relationship, definitely read this book!! Why was a 60-year-old man taking interest in the life of a 20-year-old girl, when he knew it looked weird... why did he refuse to tell his wife that he was helping that 20-year-old girl? This man blamed his wife for miscarrying...ew...cringing so hard right now. Honestly, this couple needs to get a divorce. With the attitude that the old man had towards his wife, I am not surprised that she cheated on him. and then he has the audacity to look surprised. AS IF HE WASN'T CHEATING ON HER TOO, emotional cheating is just as bad as physical cheating. OH and let's not forget how he refused to tell his wife anything because she's a "gossip and would tell the whole town" but he tells EVERYONE when she cheated... COME ON you are just as much of a gossip as her, Why are 60-year-olds experiencing this much drama in their lives ??? Shouldn't yall be playing BINGO right now?

List of tropes-
Misogyny
Old people
