I find there are too many characters and I was a bit confused because of that.

I know some would live this one but I found it was just ok.

The Marriage List, by Ella Quinn starts a new trilogy in the world of the Worthington world we've come to know and love. It's definitely getting harder to remember who fits in where, but the Worthington family puts me in mind of Bridgerton's, you might not know everyone, but you know you want to be a part of the drama of the family. It also helps that you can generally pick up a book without much backstory and still catch up fairly quick in my opinion.

While I liked Eleanor - smart, quick, kind and knows her own mind, I liked her even better within the context of her budding relationship with John. There's always something that draws me in when it comes to men who assume they want the biddable wife they can leave in a closet until they need her and go about their lives, then learn along the way that they in fact want the exact opposite.

I enjoyed seeing John's introspection and realization that all his best laid plans were for naught as he tries to convince Eleanor to be his wife. And she definitely takes him through his paces. This all happening in the midst of some danger and intrigue side plots. As I feel this doesn't always happen in a regency romance, I appreciated the addition and the ending!

My opinion is my own and freely given.

Fun and fast paced!!

You have a task....find a man you enjoy spending time with. Discover if you suit. Fall in love. Get married and live HEA. How best to accomplish this? Three young ladies decide to create a list of requirements and have an older brother who takes YOUR thoughts and feelings into account. Very practical.

Lady Eleanor Carpenter and her twin sister, Lady Alice Carpenter and their sister-in-law Lady Madeline Vivers, are all of similar age and are coming out together. Eleanor has a cause near and dear to her...helping those less fortunate. She is very good at it. She is a fixer.

John, the Marquis of Montagu, is instantly intrigued by Eleanor as he sees her and her siters riding in Hyde Park. He too has a task....find a wife. He too has a list, it seems pretty simple. He wants a wife who is simple and biddable, not at all into politics or causes, sticks to basic polite conversation...the opposite of his mother and sister. Well he is in for a HUGE surprise and his world is quickly going to be thrown into chaos, a chaos he will discover he loves and didn't realize he has been missing his whole life.

As Eleanor and John start their respective vetting processes John is introduced to family meals with Eleanor, her 10 other siblings, some in-laws (spouses) and a beavy of young children. At first the idea throws him off and then he experiences a breakfast and he truly likes it. He likes the closeness of Eleanor's family. He discovers his list of requirements is ridiculous and starts revamping it on the fly as he learns more and more about Eleanor.

For Eleanor, John ticks a lot of the requirements off her list, but the biggest...does he love her keeps eluding her. She likes how he worries about, cares for those dependent on him. She likes his sense of humor, that he loves her family and he seems to support her causes.

There is a sinister back plot going on that will test their relationship dearly. The villin is determined and doesn't see killing as a problem. As they get closer to their HEA, the danger becomes apparent and measures are taken. But within those measures the harsh words of John throw everything off. Once cooler heads prevail all was well.

This continuation of the Worthington family saga is just as rich, fun and fast paced as the rest. Ms. Quinn bring the whole clan along for the come out season of Lady's Eleanor, Alice and Madeline and I can't wait to see them all get their HEAs and the men they find to treasure each of them.

This book is part of a series. The Worthington Brides, which relates to other series by the author. Eleanor has very high expectations for her husband to be. So much so she's made a list. John has his own list. The question is do their list match? Will they suit? I feel there's tons of secondary characters to keep up with. It's well written but maybe a little slow paced.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Well, this book was sweet, it was also kind of disappointing for me. I sometimes feel like I am reading a completely different author when reading her earlier books, but lately these newer ones have lacked the magic that I loved from Ella Quinn. I used to love the teasing and banter that we would see from the hero and heroine, and it seems lacking from here. I will still read the next two books in the series.

When a man sets forth with a list of requirements for a bride, he does not envision that his heart will go an entirely different route. The story of John and Eleanor is an entertaining journey from courtship to marriage. The Worthington's are not your average Ton family and watching John take in and acclimate to their more relaxed manner was a lot of fun. Eleanor is independent and smart and not afraid to show it, decidedly alike John’s mother & sister, which is precisely what he meant to avoid. But the heat wants what it wants. The added suspense of the mining industry made or a nice side dish, just enough to peak your interest. A lovely and light story.

This is a nice read, well-researched, with an inventive plot and a strong heroine. The voice level was not quite up to my preference.

I am such a huge fan of this author and every book I've read. This is not my favorite as I prefer a bit more of conflict in a relationship but it was nice and funny and I love the family dynamic

Ella Quinn continues to hit it out of the park with this family. Eleanor and Montagu have such a wonderful story. This is truly a love story of what a person thinks they want in a spouse versus what you might really need that leads to great love.

Readers will enjoy this book.

Lady Eleanor Carpenter is approaching her coming out season. She and her sisters have derived a list of what they are looking for in a husband. She has caught the eye of John, The Marquis of Montagu, but is unsure if he will fulfill all of the traits that she is looking for.

Lord Montagu believes he is looking for a quiet wife who will be content to run his household and raise children. He does not feel intelligence is a trait that is necessary in a wife, but after more than one conversation about the weather, he begins to reconsider. Lady Eleanor, he begins to realize, is more intelligent than he once thought, and he ponders whether she would make a good match for him.

I once again enjoyed reading a period romance novel by Ella Quinn and look forward to the opportunity to read more in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #TheMarriageList

Too many details, too many characters, and the story itself was quite bland. I tried, but I barely made it a third of the way through before I just had to put this one down. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would enjoy this book, I'm just not one of them unfortunately.

Well this was a sweet regency romance!

I have been wanting to dive into this genre after reading the Bridgerton series and this book definitely didn’t disappoint!

It was witty, cheeky, romantic, and has a bold go-getter FMC!

John, the Marquis of Montagu is a charming, well off gentleman trying to win the heart of Lady Eleanor.

I highly recommend this to anyone that loves regency romances!

This book did not have the vibes the beautiful cover promised. This was my first book by Ella Quinn. I’m convinced I should have read the rest of the series first. There were so many side characters that it was hard to keep track of how everyone was related. Putting that aside, storyline just wasn’t very exciting. I would love to have seen more development of Montagu and Eleanor’s relationship. It was just hard to believe they actually loved each other.I’ll definitely go back and read some other titles by Ella Quinn before moving on in the series.

Oh how I wanted to love this book! It's premise is delightful - a headstrong woman looking for a true match! It starts well, with the lady in question being a Good Samaritan, rescuing a young woman and her little kiddos from certain death along the roadside.

But then it all goes awry. The plot bounces back and forth through too many timelines (needlessly, I think) trying to tell the same story from various vantage points. And the love match seems contrived. Eleanor definitely deserves the best, but truthfully, I kind of lost interest in the story 2/3 of the way through.

I liked Eleanor, but the story's timeline isn't well structured and the characters are more flat than enjoyable.

I enjoyed this historical romance with its feisty heroine. This one was definitely a case of opposites attract. I enjoyed the push and pull of the characters and the look at society’s expectations for women and also men. Great dialogue and a big cast of supporting characters made it a fun read.

The Marriage List is the first book I have read by Ella Quinn, but it won’t be the last.

The setup was a bit slow for me, perhaps because I have not read other books about the Worthington family. They were, however, an absolute joy to get to know.

I enjoy historical romance with strong female characters and this book is full of them. They are vivacious, caring, and independent. The male characters from the youngest tot to the elder generation are engaging. I loved the humor that shines through as well as the familial love. That isn’t always the case during this time period.

The information about mining horrors and reformation was educational and fit within the storyline. It’s always nice to learn new bits of history while being entertained.

John and Eleanor were an engaging couple, even if I did want to shake them a time or two. They made a delightful pairing in this tale.

The pacing is excellent, never lagging or skipping. While I knew the book would have a happy ending, the path the author took to reach it was quite enjoyable. There was a bit of mystery and danger to keep the reader on their toes.

I can’t wait to go back and read the earlier books about the Worthington family and will be watching for the next in this series. I highly recommend The Marriage List to all lovers of regency romance.

This was an excellent historical romance. Eleanor and John are just too perfect for each other, even if they don't think they are at first. They each have their own idea of the perfect spouse, but as anyone who has fallen in love can tell you, sometimes the ones who look perfect on paper aren't actually your perfect match. I really enjoyed falling back in time and watching this story unfold before my eyes, and I'll definitely be checking out more books by this author in the future!
