I’m always on the lookout for new truck and transportation books for my little guy and I loved this one for its depiction of a different family dynamic and for how it follows a little girl who loves trucks. This book subtly educates on the importance of all occupations and helps to break down the gender stereotypes of what’s appropriate for boys and girls to like. I enjoyed this cute book and feel it will be a popular one when it publishes.

Thank you to NetGalley, Capstone and Carol Gordon Ekster for an advance copy.

Trucker Kid is a cute children's book about how a little girl Athena misses her dad while she is over the road driving. She is extremely proud of what her dad does her love for trucks continues to grow more. Ultimately, Athena's dad ends up coming into her school to show the other kids in her class what his job is like.

Athena wants to be a trucker like her daddy. When he's on the road, she plays with her toy trucks and draws pictures of semi trucks. The kids in Athena's class tease her about dressing like a trucker. However, once she explains what her daddy and other truckers do, they want to know more. Athena's dad comes to the school and tells the class stories and let's them climb on the truck. This is a wonderful, educational story about trucks and their importance. I loved that the children were willing to listen to Athena to learn why she is obsessed with trucks, instead of just making fun of her. It showed their attitudes being changed by education. Great illustrations. They are cute, fun and make trucking exciting.

I’m always on the lookout for books that depict a different family dynamic than the norm. This book does a wonderful job of helping children realize the importance of truckers, and that being a trucker is a real job out there! Being a trucker isn’t commonly spoken about in schools, and I love being able to introduce the children to new experiences/jobs. Very cute book!

This book educated the importance of all occupations. Especially trucks. Also, I think that it's a great representation of Athena's love for trucks since she's a girl. This motive girls-like/plays with dolls only must end at some point. So it's a excellent "lesson"

I didn't know I would tear up reading this kid's picture storybook. Being adults, we have become so bland and seem like we have taken everything for granted, vecome bitter and frustrated with everyone and everything.

This book is a gentle important reminder not to set ourselves as an example to the kids filling our social interactions with comparisons and comparisons, let go of stereotypes but celebrate everyone and respect their professions.

The child in the story is so enthusiastic about her father's job. It is a clear reminder of how we used to think of every job as wonderful and full of possibilities!

Such a good book.

Thank you, Capstone, for the advance reading copy.

Subtly informative while showing the connection between a father and daughter, Trucker Kid is an adorable picture book. With the popularity among kids with trucks (and other large motor vehicles), Trucker Kid will easily become popular.

I love this book and could relate. I am the proud daughter of a mechanic dad who repaired and maintained big trucks that shipped brand new cars all across my province. I was always in awe as I visited him and saw the majesty and importance of these huge rigs.

Athena's dad is a truck driver and she misses him terribly while he is out on the road. Oftentimes she is lucky enough to spend quality time with him when he is doing a delivery and she believes that his job is the most exciting job ever.

She is proud to boast to her classmates about her dad's job but they don't understand the importance of his work and why she calls herself a Trucker Kid.

She is happy to explain to them why she feels this way and being a trucker's daughter is awesome!

The illustrations are colourful, full of passion, and show a diverse group of classmates which I love. The book is a celebration of the role of trucks and those that drive them and is educational as well. It points out how essential trucks are to our every day lives. I highly recommend "Trucker Kid"!

I especially liked that this book portrayed a little girl who loves trucks. The information at the back on why we need trucks was a nice addition.

Very sweet book about a little trucker kid whose very proud of her dad. Wonderful book that includes lots of trucker terminology and information without it taking away from the fun story.

I also very much enjoyed the list of reasons why truckers are important at the end. Very interesting

What a special peek into the life of a trucker family! Trucker Kid is the story of Athena, who adores her Trucker Dad, and shares with her classmates just how awesome her dad’s job is!

So many kids LOVE driving by big trucks in awe of them. This little story helps kids see and hopefully appreciate the important jobs of the folks behind the wheels of their favorite big rigs! We need trucks and their drivers for so many things!

Thanks to NetGalley and Capstone Editions for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

There are always books about jobs that parents have, but this book stands out as pretty unique. I know a lot of kids who love trucks and truck drivers, so it's really cool to get to see one about a kid with a parent who drives trucks!

Such a great story about truckers! After reading this book I want to be a Trucker Kid too! :) Truck drivers truly are so important, especially in today’s age where we rely on stuff getting delivered to our doorsteps. They are the heart of supply chain and logistics; businesses are 100% dependent on them, directly or indirectly. The illustrations were beautiful and it’s so amazing how the author got the inspiration to write this book after overhearing Athena and her parents in New Mexico!

The story of Athena is really sweet. She's a kid who loves her dad very much but misses him when he's busy with his trucker job.

She dresses like her dad, plays with trucks every spare minute, and loves to talk about trucks all the time at least to her stuffed toys. But at school, the kids make fun of her, saying the Trucker kid isn't a hero. They don't really understand what is so amazing about trucker jobs or trucks at all. So she tells them about the adventures she went on with her father in the truck, and all the kids are suddenly interested. Seeing that the teacher invites Athena's dad to school to tell the kids all about the trucker job, He answers every question and lets Athena do the tour of his truck. With the day spent like this, Athena is now popular among her peers and the kids can't get enough of her new adventures and stories about the Trucker kid.

This sweet story of Athena's admiration and love for her dad and his job is highlighted by the beautiful illustrations, which add to the story. They are colorful and catch the eye very easily. This seems like a perfectly good night story for any small hero out there. Another part that stands out is that while we begin the story with Athena that tells the trucker's adventures to her toys, she becomes a real hero at the end of the story when she spends the time with other childer, all playing with trucks together and listening to her stories.
