Such a wonderfully written and illustrated book. I loved the scientific study Abby did with her almost. The message to change the way you react to almost was also a good one with the decision tree to support it.

Great book for any elementary school class library

4.5 Stars
Almosts seemed to be the story of Abby’s life. From almost winning a fight with her brother to almost being the best, it appeared that she never reached the final point. Abby is disgusted by the almost, but a chance encounter makes her wonder if almost can be good. She decides to investigate and makes a surprising discovery.
Oh, I love this book! As they say, no one remembers who came second; the next best is no longer enough in today’s world. But what if almost has a good side? Abby is a science girl by heart, and it makes me so happy to see her plan her investigation with a book in hand. She made notes to keep track of good almosts and bad almosts. My kinda girl, I say!
The book shows both sides of the coin and makes it believable. It is realistic enough to explain things to kids. The illustrations are vibrant, cheerful, and delightful. Detailing is important in kiddo books, and it tickled me to see the pug stealing food from the breakfast table, lol.
The font is of decent size. The dialogues are in cursive writing (my favorite again!). Almost is highlighted every time, and the wacky font makes it fun to read. The flowchart at the end about how to deal with almosts is a great touch. I’ve read the author’s Braver Than Brave and must say that she writes sweet and heartwarming kiddo books.
To summarize, A Bad Case of the Almosts is not just for little ones but for adults too. It’s okay if life gives us almosts. We’ll make it work.
I received an ARC from NetGalley, Capstone, and Capstone Editions and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I think it's a good book to educate children about looking at the glass half full. It's short and sweet, gets the message across successfully. The illustrations are very colourful and interesting. And the chart at the end might help children in understanding how to react, response in situations that don't go according to there wish. Overall a good 5 star deserving book

Oh I just loved this little book! I read this with my two boys and they loved it too. The illustrations are so bright and cheery, the story is wonderful and sends a great message to kids, teaching them that they have to power to decide their feelings and reactions.
The Decision Tree at the old of the book was so much fun, we went over it a few times coming up with different outcomes.
Would highly reccomend this for all parents.

Thank you @NetGalley for the chance to read this one.

I recieved an eARC of this book free of charge so I could read and review it. Thank you for the opportunity.

Abby has a problem. She almost makes it, every time. And she is sick and tired of "almost”. A chance encounter encourages her to try to look at the other side.

This book does a good job of demonstrating the SEL techniques of doing a t-chart and positive framing, in an appealing picture book. Abby is relatable and will be an appealing protagonist. This is a good book for use in school and group settings, particularly for school counselors for kids struggling with perfectionism, or for parents who have children who struggle with these issues.

Such a cute and fun read! I love the moral of the story and the lessons we can learn from “Almosts”. Makes me think of the half-empty or half-full analogy - it all depends on perspective and your reaction to these situations. A lot of times we tend to focus on what we lack rather than the potential. I would definitely get this for my kids - there are some important life lessons to be learned from here :)

This was a fun book! Abby thinks "almost" is bad! Her experience has shown her that, or that's what she thinks. She decides to do an experiment to see if maybe "almost "can be good sometimes too! This was a fun journey through her day where she discovered maybe looking for the silver lining is a good thing! I enjoyed this and it had beautiful illustrations!

What a great book for the young ones! Teaches children to be grateful for the things they do have and to realize that almost isn't always a bad thing! Almost definitely does count, and that message shines through in this book. Highly recommended for young readers who may need some extra encouragement!

A nice little story with lots of humour, a likeable main character, many great illustrations and a clever ending. And mind you: it's not just for girls!

I didn’t like this book as much as I wanted. I couldn’t connect with it, I didn’t care for the main character nor her conflict. I didn’t like the writing either and parts of the text looked weird. There was one instance where the word “try” looked like “tay” because of the chosen font and I think that may confuse children. The best part of the book was the artwork. It was fun, colorful and cute.

Thank you to Netgalley and Capstone Editions for this adorable ARC. #netgalley #capstoneeditions

I love this book. I absolutely adore the illustrations! I definitely can actually relate to this book even as an adult. Especially when I was a kid I can understand being so close to winning or being 100% on a test. It was always very frustrating. Even now I'm as adult sometimes it's a pain. But what I love about this story is it teaches the "almosts" are opportunities to look at situations differently and how to react to them. They have a decision tree at the end of the book. Similar to like a mind map. It demonstrates to children options on how they can react to things that they can't necessarily control. We can always give our best but sometimes our best isn't always enough and children need to learn about setbacks. How to recalibrate and get back up. It's an important part to acknowledge our feelings and how to handle disappointments and frustrations. Great book for children.

A Bad Case of the ALMOSTS.
Abby has a case of the 'almosts' and views them as bad - something we as adults have a tendancy to do too. She soon discovers that 'almosts' can be good and bad and how we deal with them is more important.

This creative book follows the mishaps of a little girl as her frustration about “almosts” grows - a feeling we can all relate to. The illustrations are bright and captivating. We noticed all of the small details on every page, making for a very engaging reading experience together. There are some plot points that seem to be a little loose but not so much that younger readers will notice. (My 7 year old, however, did point out that some events weren’t quite linear.) A fun read that may just need some revisions and clarifying.
