Sacred Lamb's plot is very interesting - and was the reason I requested the ebook - a sanctuary for serial killers' victims, known as Endemic Victims, or just Eves, built to keep them safe and discourage the emergence of copycats or even new "unknown to science" versions of the killers themselves.
The story starts with a lot of action, the first scene already being the protag, Kellyn, fighting her agressor, and finding out about the existence of Sacred Lamb when she's sent there. Right away we noticed lots of problems there, from the guards that don't seem concerned with the victims' safety to attacks between the residents. But, after Kellyn's arrival, and getting to know a bit about the other victims' stories, everything gets a bit rushed and starts making less and less sense, with the addition of some supernatural elements that don't really fit the narrative and one absurd thing happening right after another, until we get to an ending that tries to be incredible shocking but that, even if I didn't see it coming, doesn't make the story neither more interesting nor nicer.
To wrap it up there's a bit of "girl power" thrown over everything, and an opening for a sequel that I don't find necessary. It started really well, but went downhill.

This was an interesting take on the final girls' trope. I got walking dead meets final girl support group vibes from it. I just wish is was a bit longer. I felt like the story was rushed and the influencer stereotype was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

Umm I really didn't love this. The art was... fine but not really my taste. The story was also kinda confusing in parts and I guess I just really didn't like the point that the author was trying to make. Overall this was sadly a bit of a mess :(

A decent idea with a horrible execution. This is supposed to be a horror graphic novel following survivors of serial killers that can't be killed.

I saw "meta-horror" and I immediately thought of the movies Scream and The Cabin in The Woods, both of which I loved, however, this failed miserably.

The action made no sense, nothing was explained, and the characters were one-dimensional. The "commentary" on the genre did not exist. It did all the things that don't age well in other books or movies and that was it.

The art style was ok, but not good enough to look at to save the whole book.

What can happen if you put all slasher and serial killer survivors in the same town? This book explores it. There are parts that will cause you to jump in your seat and others where you'll think you have it all figured out. I enjoyed this and can it becoming a cult classic like the Scream series.

Sacred Lamb is a phenomenal meta-horror story that brings to life everything horror fans love about the final girl (survivor) trope. It focuses on Sacred Lamb, a secret town where survivors of slasher killers reside in a "witness protection" program in order to stop innocents from being murdered when the sequels occur and their respective slashers return from the dead to seek revenge.

This twisted and gore-filled graphic novel is sure to delight all slasher movie fans and leave them eagerly awaiting a sequel. The artwork is beautifully done and richly detailed, a truly wonderful meta-horror graphic novel.

I didn't expect to like this comic as much as I did, so that's a win in my books! It was admittedly very difficult to actually like the main character as she acts like a stereotypical social-media-obsessed blond airhead, although she does eventually prove that she has a brain at the end of the story. The elements of the supernatural and the fact that it's never actually confirmed or not left me thinking about the story long after I finished it - another win!

We meet Kellyn West in a graveyard. She’s a social media influencer doing a livestream when Clay Coogan decides it’s time for her viewers see what her insides look like.

Maybe if Clay wasn’t so verbose, he would have finished the job before Detective Olivia Hubbard arrived.

“I … I’m the dreaded creature, gliding beneath the water, hidden behind tints of azure.”

Um…

“They’ll put a box in a box in that box, and none of it will matter.”

Oh, just die already, Clay!

Clay has been classified as a Sequel Killer because, you know, they never stay dead! Kellyn has been awarded a designation of E.V. (Endemic Victim) and a place in the Endemic Victim Protection Program. She’s on her way to Sacred Lamb, not that that sounds ominous or anything.

There she meets such famous E.V.‘s as Bambi Mondale and the Babysitter. They’re not all thrilled to be getting a new neighbour.

“You’re weak. You’ll break. You may be safer here. But we aren’t safe from you.”

To be fair, the bloodshed does begin fairly soon after Kellyn’s arrival.

In theory, having a bunch of E.V.‘s living in the same town is supposed to keep everyone safe. In reality, if you’re planning on going on a final girl rampage, Sacred Lamb is the ideal destination. I’m only surprised it took forty years for the carnage to arrive at Sacred Lamb.

“… There’s nothing to see here.”

I love slashers and was hoping for The Final Girl Support Group vibes. I really liked the concept and the story had a strong start.

I expected to get even more into the story once the blood started to spill but instead it lost me. Thanks to group therapy, we learn the backstories of some of the other final girls but I didn’t connect with anyone in particular.

When I saw this was written by the co-creator of Hack\Slash it was a no-brainer that I would want to read it. I have been an avid collector of the aforementioned comic series since its inception, and though I have not enjoyed any of Seeley’s other works as much as Hack\Slash, the description of Sacred Lamb was similar enough that it immediately drew my attention.
Sacred Lamb fits in the same rough world as Hack\Slash, in that it is a world where costumed slashers are a common thing. It’s a world where all those slashers from the movies would feel right at home, and the world has adjusted to their existence.
In order to protect those “final girls” who have survived, as well as those associated with them, a closed community called “Sacred Lamb” has been created. It is hidden, high security, and no one knows of its existence.
But when it receives a new Final Girl, a social media influencer, it spells the beginning of the end of the town, and the safety it provides.
Though the idea behind Sacred Lamb is a fascinating one, and though the story contains many good ideas I was ultimately disappointed with the resulting book. I found the art to be unappealing, and the story to be increasingly uninteresting. It moved through too commonly used ideas when it came to the killers and survivors themselves. It did not have any of the wit I associated with Tim Seeleys previous work, where the killers were sometimes obvious parodies, while at others were sly twists on our expectations. Often when an interesting idea was introduced it was not used and just hung in the air as if for a side story or a sequel, but ultimately the lead character was just not interesting enough to carry my interest beyond the book’s conclusion.
I do note, however, that I seem to be in a minority here, as most seem to enjoy this book a great deal, so perhaps I missed something.

"Sacred Lamb" is a comic that promised to be really good. It started with a graveyard scene and a brutal murder with a use of backhoe - you have to admit, it sounds pretty good. I also liked the idea of a secret town where those who managed to survive the onslaught of endemic slasher killers are placed. Kellyn, the main character, got to know a lot of horrific stories about brutal murders there - if you like such content, reading "Sacred Lamb" will give you a lot of impressions.

I really liked it too - unfortunately, till this moment only. Then it got very, very weird. The story got mixed up and I got completely lost in it. I stopped understanding what was going on and forced myself to read, because I no longer got any pleasure from reading this.

I wasn't impressed with the art style either, and it didn't encourage me to continue reading. I'm sorry to say, but sometimes it was just plain ugly.

I enjoyed the premise of this graphic novel and the artwork added to the story as well. I also liked that each characters backstory got told, that made it really easy to follow all the storylines. The survivors used their history to save themselves and move forward which is powerful. This is not one I would usually pick up and I’m glad it did.

While I appreciated the artwork in this graphic novel, the story itself was not great. I might have liked this title more if I was a fan of horror films, especially slashers, as there were a lot of references to those. With some more background knowledge about that area of pop culture, I think this book would have been a more enjoyable read. Overall, Sacred Lamb just wasn’t for me.

All the classic characters. the final girl, the paranoid, the tough guy, and the loner.
Nothing to brag about, it was a good read.

Social Media has affected our lives in so many ways that now it is impossible to think life without it. It has its advantages but more disadvantages. The book focuses on the same thing. The plot picks up from the start with some interesting scenes, but it would not let you sit down for a second. With every page , the heat and mystery intensifies and ends with a buzzing climax. Graphics are exceptionally good.
Definitely a 5 star rated book. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me an opportunity to read and review the book.

This was such a unique take on the final girl trope! I really enjoyed this story and its art style!!!

It was incredibly mediocre and felt kind of ableist too. The idea of the story is good but the way it was developed was awful and the art was boring and flat as well. Overall I think there was too many plot holes and weird dialogue that made no sense it ruined it for me.

I like the message but this isn’t the best execution. I give it three stars but it’s more like 2 1/2 stars. This is a graphic novel and a large aspect of a graphic novel is good illustrations. The design of this is very lackluster. I can’t put my finger on it but I just don’t like how the characters are drawn. I will say one positive is I thought the killers aesthetics were really cool.

As for the plot, the overall message is cool but it honestly went too fast. It’s always satisfying to see a group of women band together to fight evil. . However, the main and supporting characters really needed to get fleshed out more. I didn’t get attached to any of the characters at all. And there were interesting characters! I wished this was a collection of graphic novels so that you could get more time with these female characters. Introducing all these characters in one short novel doesn’t give the reader a chance to fully immerse themselves into their stories.

This was...horrible. vapid. Badly done. Between the dialog that even made the fbi agent sound like an uneducated princess to the "killer" this whole thing was just bad.

Not my sort of book, unfortunately. A little too fast-paced and jittery. Nothing atrocious, but still noticeable.
