Widowed Amish matchmaker Millie Fisher (AKA Amish Marple) has moved back to her home county in Ohio after caring for her sister in Michigan. Now that they are 68, Millie and her non-Amish friend from childhood, Lois, are still great friends despite their differing lifestyles Lois works well with Millie in investigating. But not all the way to Cleveland.
This installment into a rather humorous cozy series brings in a sad note of reality in the form of drug abuse issues in the community, county, state, and more. From the sadness of one of the Amish youth dying of overdose to the clandestine ways in which innocent people can be duped into transportation. But it all starts with murder by cuckoo clock. Well done!
Mostly it's a good cozy mystery, but the hilarious incidents creep up now and again to make you laugh your sox off. Loved it and it really can stand alone.

When I started reading the Amish Matchmaker Mystery series, I thought of it very much as a spin-off from Flower’s Amish Sweet Shop series. And that’s true but in the most recent books MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF and this one, HONEYMOONS CAN BE HAZARDOUS, it’s really come into it’s own and stands completely on it’s own legs.

Alongside ‘new’ characters like out protagonists (Millie, our titular Amish matchmaker, and her spunky, dyed-hair café owning bestie, Lois), returning characters who played small roles in Bailey’s stories, have become fully fleshed out and part of the team. It’s wonderful to see characters like Ruth Yoder, the Bishop’s wife, and new promoted Deputy Little, getting more time to shine.

This instalment feels a touch darker than the previous – although it’s still very much a cozy – because, alongside the gloriously ridiculous ‘main’ murder mystery (death by falling, oversized cuckoo clock?), drugs have become a problem in small-town Harvest, and the dealing, smuggling and the aftermath of an overdose, are all critically tied to the investigation.

As with all the best cozy series – the ones I return to with each new instalment – the Amish Matchmaker’s strength is in it’s characters.

Millie and Lois are the perfect odd-couple, different in nearly every way but clearly devoted to each other.
Millie’s growing animal family – her two goats, a cat, and a very forgiving old horse – all have personalities uniquely all their own.
Harvest itself, the town and the community, feels like a character all its own, somewhere that feels ‘real’ in an almost too-good-to-be-true way.
Seeing it through Millie’s eyes — and how her worldview presses up against stricter Amish, or law enforcement, or the modern, English side of Harvest’s community – and how all of it comes together, is a delight.

HONEYMOONS CAN BE HAZARDOUS is another wonderful mystery in a charming series.

With the sleuthing team of the sassy, risk-taking (and Non-Amish) Lois and the calm, logical, Amish Millie investigating, what more could you want?! What a duo!

The characters in the series all have such unique personalities which makes for a fun read, and there are certainly times when the interactions are very humorous. The friendship and banter between Lois and Millie is probably my favorite thing about the book (and series).

Certainly an unusual storyline (never would’ve considered death by cuckoo clock!), but it added to the fun. It’s great to read about Amish life and culture, and the book also touches on serious topics of drug dealing and abuse.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series to see what Lois and Millie get themselves into next.

Millie Fisher's best friend, Lois Henry, is startled when her ex- husband, Gerome Moorhead, walks into the diner with his young new wife. Lois screams and tells him to get out, he shouldn't be bothering her. He tries to explain that his bride wanted to visit Amish country for their honeymoon, but Lois just tells him to get out. Realizing afterward that she was rude, Lois drags Millie with her to the Munich Chalet ,where Gerome and his wife are staying, with the intentions of apologizing. However, they are only in time to witness the Cuckoo from the World's largest Cuckoo Clock fall on the bride and kill her. Was this a tragic accident or was it somehow rigged to happen?

Millie Fisher, the Harvest village Amish matchmaker, and Lois are complete opposites in personality and appearance and yet the friendship between them is strong and caring. I loved how the story was not just of the mystery but also of Millie's efforts to help 2 Amish young people and their marriage possibilities.

Warm and uplifting!

I love this series, and this last installment was great. The characters are like old friends, fun and engaging. I especially enjoy the animal characters. This was an interesting plot with a few twists, and an ending I had not predicted. If you are hooked on cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this book and series. Truly enjoyable.

Widowed matchmaker Millie Fisher is anything but lonely between her mischievous goats, her quilting circle—and her habit of solving the odd murder or two . . .
Millie is such a fun character and I love the goats.

Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous is the fourth installment in the An Amish Matchmaker Mystery series featuring Amish matchmaker Millie Fisher and her English best friend, Lois Henry. It's Valentine's season and love should be in the air, but for Millie she's still mourning the loss of her husband Kip and the fact that Uriah Schrock, the one man she had shown recent interest in moved away to be with his family. Lois finds her heart hardening when ex husband #4, Gerome Moorhead aka "Rocksino-Guy" shows up with his much younger new wife, Paige.

A tense exchange occurs between Lois, Paige and Gerome and feeling guilty Lois asks Millie to accompany her to the Munich Chalet where the newlyweds are staying so that she can apologize. Unfortunately, upon arrival the gigantic cuckoo clock at the resort starts to sound and the bird falls to the ground crushing Paige who had been standing underneath. Someone has deliberately cut the cables to the cuckoo, but was Paige the intended victim? Despite the warnings from Deputy Little to stay out of his investigation, Millie and Lois soon find themselves in the midst of a tangled mystery involving both the Amish and English.

The author does a fantastic job as always of weaving together two very unique lifestyles, touching on a recent headline - in this case drug trafficking and addiction, and adds in the hilarious antics of the resident goats, horse and cat. A fast paced and wonderful addition to the series, ending with a surprise for Millie. Looking forward to the next adventures in Holmes County.

I received an advanced copy of Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

I love Millie, or "Amish Millie" as her best friend Lois Henry calls her! Millie is the local matchmaker along with having a knack for solving murders. When Lois's ex "Rocksino-Guy" shows up with his new wife, Lois is less than happy to see him. When there is a murder at the local Chalet Millie and Lois are hot on the trail to solve another crime.

The thing I noticed most about this installment of the Matchmaker Mystery series was the humor. I've always enjoyed the humor in this authors books, but this one had some howl-worthy scenes! A favorite laugh-out-loud moment was one between Rocksino-Guy and Ruth Yoder. I seriously howled! Millie and Lois manage to get themselves in the middle of the investigation which puts them in danger but they help to solve the case. Of course we see Millie's goats causing all kinds of mischief, which is very entertaining! I thoroughly enjoyed Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous and can't wait for the next Matchmaker Mystery!

Just the book I needed to get me out of the reading funk streak I was in. Always interesting, never dull, I thoroughly enjoy this cozy little series. While it is part of a series, this can easily be read as a stand alone.

Loved the cliffhanger at the end (and normally I hate those). A fun book, worth picking up!

The best of friends since they were young girls, Lois Henry and Millie Fisher two women you would never think would be friends. Millie who is Amish and lives on a farm with her animals far from town is also a matchmaker.and widower. Lois Henry her loud outspoken, multi divorced women who works at the Sumbeam Cafe live to solve murders. Yes these two wonderful best buds who are so different live to solve crimes.
What I so loved about this book were the characters. There were many in this book and each one brought something to this story.
First there is the mystery of who killed Paige Delpont the wife of Lois's ex husband Gerome. Lois agrees to help Gerome in finding out who killed his young wife. Will Lois drag her Amish loving friend who must watch how she conducts herself among her church family and also try and stay on the good side of Sheriff Little and solve this crime? As investigators go Millie and Lois are able to get to the bottom of why Paige and her family wanted to do business with the Amish carpenters. As they dig deeper into Paige's family story they stumble upon they mystery of the hidden boxes that were part of the furniture that Paige was ordering from the Amish. What were these hidden boxes and what did Paige's brother Ronan have to do with the drug raid? Were these two crimes tied together?
As I said before I love these characters. Millie and Lois remind me of the Golden Girls of Harvest. You also have Mrs. Yoder the bishops wife who is like a general gathering her troops to storm the fields and make sure everyone is following the Amish rule. There are the various animals that roam the town like Jethro the pig, or Millies goats Phil and Pete who get into their own trouble. I also liked the way Ms. Flower mixes the two cultures together. Where Millie has no phone or electrical items in her house, where Lois drives a car, dresses loudly and has been married numerous times. Yet they all come together for the common good of trying to keep their town safe and hope to solve Paige's murder and see where are all the drugs coming from.
Cozy mysteries are one of my favorite books to read. I will put Amanda Flower as an author to keep looking for when I need a new mystery. Would recommend this to anyone who loves a mystery and also someone who likes to see two different cultures come together for good. Hope to read the next adventure of Millie and Lois.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for the ARC., and to Amanda Flower for the delightful read.

Love the Matchmaker mystery series. Millie and Lois are such excellent characters! Lois' ex husband has married a younger woman who ends up dead the day after they meet her. Something smells wrong so the duo are looking at clues. Love the pairing of Millie and Lois who are not spring chickens! Makes for a great story plot. Excellent read! If you haven't read this series, then DO! Thanks #netgalley and #Kensington for the eARC in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are mine.

Millie and Lois are back again in another Matchmaker mystery. This one involves one of Lois' ex-husbands and his new wife. The new wife dies by cuckoo clock and Lois is a suspect as well as the ex-husband. There is a tragic story of drug use among the Amish. I love the unusual pairing of Millie and Lois. The two of them are fun to read about and it is refreshing that they are of an older generation when so many other cozy mysteries have younger MCs. The pacing of the book moves well and the ending is satisfying. It was a great weekend read.

Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and Kensington Books.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

The unlikely matchmaker friends Millie and Lois are back again.

An unexpected run in with one of Lois ex husbands who has recently married a younger wife. To their surprise as he soon becomes a widower the net day. Something is suspicious in the air.

A falling wood carving makes Lois prime suspect of murder. Will they be able to stop Lois from a life in jail? It is a charming friendship between two unlikely people.

Millie Fisher may be very Amish but her best friend Lois Henry is not – Lois has a habit of collecting colorful earring and husbands. When her latest ex-husband shows up in Harvest Ohio, Lois is not happy to see him – or the new wife he has with him. Lois is rude to the two but even she is upset when Gerome’s new wife is murdered and Gerome is the chief suspect. Lois doesn’t want to think that she was once married to a murderer so she, along with Mille, sets out to clear Gerome’s name and find the killer. But they need to be careful – they may have solved murders in the past but this case may put them both in very real danger.

“Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous” is the nicely done fourth book in Amada Flower’s Amish Matchmaker cozy mystery series. I love the pairing of Millie and Lois- they couldn’t be more different but the complement each other and make a great crime solving pair. The two of them add a nice sense of humor to the book (I grinned every time Lois called Mille the Amish Marple) and I loved the way the humor balanced the sadder elements in the book. And this was definitely one of the sadder cozy mysteries that I have read – even the identity of the killer made me sad.

“Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous” is a nicely done cozy mystery.

Such a fun filled cozy mystery. I enjoyed reading about Millie and Lois again. When a large carving falls on Lois’ ex husbands new wife Honeybee, Lois is blamed for her demise. Will Millie be able to figure out who really killed the ex-wife or will she watch her best friend go to prison for her death? Find out as this captivating story draws you in with his humor and mystery.

All words and opinions are my own. I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of HONEYMOONS CAN BE HAZARDOUS (Book 4 of the Amish Matchmaker mysteries) by Amanda Flower in exchange for an honest review. Millie Fisher and her BFF Lois Henry have a new murder to solve. Lois’s last ex-husband, George Moorehead, shows up in town with his newest wife. When the new wife is squashed by the statuary falling from a local clock tower, both Lois and George are in the hotseat. Millie’s investigation will uncover a criminal conspiracy and lead to the mending of several relationships.

I love this series and recommend it and the connected Amish Candy Shop mysteries to fans of Amish-themed cozy murder mysteries.

Honeymoons Can be Hazardous is the fourth book in this lighthearted cozy mystery series. Widowed Amish matchmaker Millie Fisher and Lois Henry, who is definitely non amish, are complete opposites but best friends nonetheless. When one of Lois's ex-husband's shows up in town with his new bride Honeybee, Lois is publicly upset and tells him off. When Honeybee ends up murdered by a giant cuckoo clock, Lois and Millie do some sleuthing to find the real killer. This was a fun quick read. I like that the main characters are interesting older women who are complete opposites. There are lots of red herrings and laugh out loud moments, especially involving Millie's mischievous goats. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in this series.

Setting the Scene: The travesty of drug abuse raises its ugly head in Holmes County, even among the Amish youth, and Deputy Little and the Holmes County Sheriff's department have their hands full. Meanwhile, Millie (an Amish matchmaker and quilter) and Lois (a zany so not Amish waitress) are smack in the middle of another murder investigation. This one may prove hazardous to their health, especially for Millie who flees her home under the cover of night. Nevertheless, Amish Marple and her sidekick are on the case and will have you sleuthing and laughing all the way to the finish, with a few gasps and head shakes thrown into the mix.

What I thought: A new outing with Millie and Lois is always a treat, and this book did not disappoint. The friendship is heartwarming; the mysteries intriguing; and the humor abounds. Poor Deputy Little does not stand a chance against the super sleuthing duo. Running across some favorite characters from Ms. Flower's Amish Candy Shop series, also set in Harvest, Ohio, was a bonus.

Millie Fisher and Lois Henry are the Odd Couple of Harvest, Ohio. Millie may not be the strictest Amish woman in town but her heart is Amish. Her best friend Lois? Not even Amish. Not only that but flamboyant, outspoken, colorful, and has multiple divorces behind her. She's still a romantic, however, and hasn't given up on love even as Millie and she push toward age 70. Together, these two make a formidable sleuthing team.

Amanda Flower is one of my go-to authors, not to mention that I enjoy following her own farm adventures on Facebook. I enjoy how she deftly blends in bits about the Amish culture and beliefs in her Amish related books, all the while allowing Millie and others to push back gently against its strictures. In addition, Flower is a master at character building, creating characters with both flaws and strengths, such as the Bishop's overbearing wife who often seems more intent on enforcing Amish laws than celebrating its heart, with Millie always finding something to admire about her even when exasperated at her attitudes. It isn't just the humans who have strong personalities, either. There's Jethro the seemingly always in mischief pig, a bit of a tv star in his own right on a blended over character from another Amish series by Flower. Then there are rambunctious goats Phillip and Peter, who are cranky but loving and protective of their human, even when they perhaps think their human, Millie, has lost her mind. In other words, the characters that people this series seem real enough that one might expect to meet them should you happen upon an Amish gathering in Ohio.

As for the mystery, it's an odd one. Who killed Paige via a, no lie, a cuckoo clock falling from a tower (see cover photo)? Millie and Lois are on the site when it happens since Paige's new husband just happened to be one of Lois' ex-husbands. What are the odds of such a strange event being murder? As it turns out, pretty high. In the meantime, everyone in town is saddened by the drug fueled death of an Amish father's son. I won't detail the plot further except to say as bizarre as the means of murder, it works and flows smoothly and steadily forward. Life events often intertwine and they certainly do in this instance, leading to both a sad but satisfying conclusion. Give it a read.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks for inviting me back to Harvest, Ohio, to spend some time hanging out with Millie and Lois. It was fun to see Bailey blend over into this series and I'm looking forward to finding out how her business expansion is coming along.
