The nightmares of the past become the nightmares of the present in this one. Three adults revisit the past they shared in a home for parent less teens. I don’t want to give too much away but Finlay knows how to tell a story.

The twist you won't see coming in this raw and gritty must-read!

I couldn't put this book down once I picked it up! I highly recommend it!

This one missed the mark for me. I was so excited for another Finlay read, and while the beginning gripped me, the mutli-POV felt a bit confusing and I got lost. Still really excited for Finlay's next book coming out in 2024!

This thriller started strong. Immediately there are three POVs, all realizing there is someone out to kill them. The first 30-40% was non stop action. But when it got to 50% and we still weren’t really figuring out what was going on, it started to get a little boring. From there it dragged and got confusing, and then the end was anticlimactic. Honestly, it would be 2 stars but the first 40% was very good. Bummer it didn’t finish that way.

BTW - Jenna CARRIED.

This book had a decent plot. The beginning had me hooked but by the middle I found my interest just wasn't there. I pushed through to the end but it just didn't capture my attention like I hoped it would

I really wanted to love this book but I just didn't. It had a nice premise and the characters were pretty interesting, but overall parts of it were boring for me and I wasn't super engaged in finding our how it ended.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of What Have We Done by Alex Finlay.

This was requested when I first found out about NetGalley and I had requested so many ARCs that I could not get to all of them before they were archived. I really wanted to get to this one, as it seemed interesting. If I can find this somewhere for a reasonable price, I will try to get it! I am giving this book three stars, as I don't want to give it a good or bad rating, since I did not get to it and we have to leave a star rating.

I’m very sad to report this is my least liked Alex Finlay. It didn’t have anything to do with the writing, the flow or characters really. I just didn’t care for the plot. I didn’t find it very compelling, and after having read it a few months ago, I had to reread the last chapter in order to remember I had already read it. Yikes!

Alex Finlay is the master of twisty thrillers and What Have We Done is no exception. The novel is told from three different points of view— Jenna, Nico, and Donnie. They were the best of friends when they met as parentless teens at the Savior House group home, but lost touch when the home was shut down following the disappearance of several children.

Now, circumstance has brought them together once more. And like last time, the circumstances are far from ideal. The three must reunite to discover who's trying to kill them and why.

Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This story had me at the beginning. Happily married woman with a husband she adores and 2 step daughters she's trying to form a bond with gets dragged back into her old life as an agent working for "The Corporation" as a contract killer. Yes! For the most part it moved along at a great pace and introduced some interesting characters.

Things got a little muddled for me towards the end and I found my interest slipping. So while this was not a 5 star read for me it did introduce me to Alex Finlay and I will try again with some of his other books which have really great reviews.

I had a great time reading What Have We Done but as time has passed it’s been hard to remember what the story was about. It hasn’t stuck with me like some other thrillers I’ve read.

So many twists and turns that I did not fully anticipate!

I loved that we got a background into each of the characters and a look into their current lives as they all come together to figure out who is trying to kill them. I did find it interesting that we mainly heard from the characters who weren't guilty, but it was cool to see them all piece it together in their own ways.

The ending was not as I expected, but it seemed to wrap up in a nice little package as they went on about their lives!

3.5 stars!

A house of horrors for a group of kids with a crazy whirlwind of actions afterwards. I didn’t love it but I would pick up another book from the author

What I Enjoyed:
• Action packed! There was always something coming around the corner.
• Short chapters
• Fast paced
• “who dun it” (even tho it seemed quite obvious which meh)
• Honestly the characters were interesting and I was invested in all of them.

What could have been better?
• While I enjoyed most of the action, at times it felt randomly thrown in for suspense and I didn’t understand why. It wasn’t always needed. A bit overdone.
• Abrupt change between past and present made it hard to keep up
• While I enjoyed all the characters, I was hoping for more development as the story went on.

Overall: it was okay!

I love the trend of a friend group (or former friend group) with a secretive past. And this group's past came together so well! It didn't feel like Alex Finlay's other books, but neither is better or worse.

The characters and their backstories were very well developed. I was drawn right in and certainly intrigued by their pasts. I liked the way the book was written as somewhat of an ensemble in the present, but everyone came together in the scenes that took place in the past.

The plot certainly takes some suspension of belief, but it was a fun and wild ride.

This book was completely wild from the beginning pages, and while I appreciate how swept up I became in this saga, there were just too many leaps of faith required of the reader to feel plausible at all.
