American Prince ARC
Sierra Simone
Stars: 4/5
Spicy Level: 5/5

I received a digital ARC of American Prince as a lead-up to the trilogy re-releasing. As with the first book in this series, Sierra Simone’s writing is incredible. However, once you get past page 165, it is so bloody painful to read. I’ve read it twice now, and it is so hard to keep going because I know what’s coming, and it hurts so bad. The book is amazing, and this series is one I will continue to recommend, but know that it will wreck you before you get any semblance of joy back.

At the end of the first book, American Queen, Greer gets kidnapped right after she, Embry, and Ash cement their relationship on the wedding night. So leading into this second book, the focus is obviously on that, but also on Embry as a character. This book is told from Embry and Greer’s POVs, but all of the flashbacks are from Embry’s past. This allows you to see how Embry and Ash met and understand Embry a bit more as a person. He is just screaming out for love and purpose, and honestly, it makes your heart ache for him even as you want to smack him for being an idiot. The plot of this book is a little more complex since the action has kicked in, and the relationship’s already somewhat established. A lot of the focus is on Greer’s kidnapping, which, let me tell you, is brutal. One of the first parts in the book is the decision that Embry has to be the one to retrieve Greer, not Ash, and it’s heart-wrenching. Ash obviously has control issues, and letting his little prince go to save their princess seems to be his breaking point. It only gets more devastating from there as the three of them work through the repercussions of Greer’s kidnapping, the political fallout of potential war, and the dark secrets that are bubbling up from their past. This one is definitely darker and more intense than book one, so keep that in mind.

The characterization in this book is interesting since we get dual POV but selective POV flashbacks. I felt like Embry was a little left out in the first book, so I appreciated getting his POV and history in this second book. He’s a very flawed character, making him more human and realistic, but also infinitely frustrating. Because you have his background and POV, you understand why Embry makes his decisions and behaves the way he does, but it still hurts watching him destroy himself and hurt those he loves. Through Embry’s eyes, we see Ash at war and the cobbled-together cracks that make the man. While Embry still loves Ash, his hero worship for him differs from Greer’s. This, combined with their drastically different attitudes and dynamics, makes for a complex relationship. I also liked that Embry sees Greer as his perfect princess but also as the brilliant professor who craves the same pain and pleasure that he does. It makes her seem fleshed out, and less doll-like than Ash sometimes treats her. My main frustration with the characters in this book is the lack of communication, and the brewing lies. I hate using miscommunication as a plot device, and this book flirts that line a little. Knowing the characters better now, you understand why they make those decisions about poor communication, but it’s still annoying. Overall, Greer, Ash, and Embry are very multidimensional, and I think this second book highlights that.

The sex in this book is absolutely vicious. I don’t think there’s really a single sex scene where things are even remotely warm and fuzzy. Emotions are very high, and they take it out on each other sexually. During Greer's kidnapping, she's threatened with rape, and to control the narrative for her, Embry roleplays the scenario with her. Upon returning home, Ash uses sex and punishments to force Greer to deal with what happened. While it works to help Greer come back to herself, both scenes are super intense. In addition to those two scenes, there are a couple of others where there’s some really angry, punishing sex with some dubcon/noncon themes. So if angry sex where people get hurt/used isn’t your vibe, I’d tread carefully. There are more M/M scenes in this book since you’re seeing everything between Embry and Ash, but there are still some F/M and F/M/M scenes. For the first 165 pages of this book, I would still consider it romance, but after that, all bets are off, even if there are still sexual encounters happening. Greer, Embry, and Ash are working through a lot of jealousy, and it’s honestly pretty messed up. There’s quite a bit of lashing out, and I didn’t always feel like their interactions or relationships with each other were super healthy. Between Ash and Embry, especially, you see a lot of issues regarding their place with each other and their relationship with Greer. I also struggled a bit because Ash doesn't always approach his D/S relationship with the other two healthily. There are definitely some blurred lines and uncomfortable moments. They all love each other so much, but during this book, all that love seems to do is hurt them.

Honestly, I have so much I could say about this book that I’m trying to keep in so I don’t spoil it completely. There are so many twists and turns, and from start to end, this story is brutal. It’s one of those cases where you’re going to suffer, and you'll like the end result, but it’s going to take a really long time to get to the end. Also, the content warnings for this book read like an AO3 story, but it happens. All I can say is keep going and have the next book on hand because you'll need it. Fair warning it gets worse before it gets better, and there will probably be a lot of angry tears before the happy tears come. Good luck. I promise it’s worth it.

CW: kidnapping, sexual assault, rape role play, sub space, war zone violence, angry sex, sadism, anal, double penetration, spanking, belting, riding crop, jealousy, date rape, accidental incest

Omg what the?! I thought American Queen was good but this, I didn’t want it to end. Sierra Simone wrote an amazing book and that ending just ugh I can’t wait to pick up the 3rd book.

Sierra Simone is a queen and she can do no wrong.
Now that that is out of the way, I can say that I just love this series. This was the first truly SPICY book I ever read, and the first ménage. It's such a unique way to do a King Arthur retelling. Normally, I hate books with even a hint of politics in them, but this book is just so bonkers and fantastic. It's smut, but it's well written and interesting smut.

Listen, I am INVESTED now!

I honestly didn't think, going into the first one, that this genre was going to be my thing, I still don't fully think it is, but this series is definitely going to be an exception - consider me hooked.

Sierra Simone is out to break hearts with this one too, the cliffhanger ending had me in absolute shambles. What am I supposed to do with that last chapteeeeeeeer 😩

It is true that reading from Embry's PoV for the entire book can be a bit much in the long run, he feels very sorry for himself throughout... basically the whole book... but it was also a nice change of pace from reading from Greer's PoV.

Now I'll be looking forward to reading from Ash's PoV 😏 (I'm terrified out of my mind)

Thanks to NetGallery and Bloom Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Book 2 in The New Camelot Series from Vice President Embry Moore’s perspective.

I love Embry. He’s the perfect switch. His love for both Ash and Greer is unmatched. He will do anything for both of them, including staying in the background and allowing their relationship to be the public aspect of their threesome. He suffers just as much, if not more than Ash, when Greer is kidnapped.

These three characters are something else. Sierra does an exceptional job of portraying their feelings and struggles. Embry and Ash both wear their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to each other and Greer. Their love for each other jumps off the pages.

This series is all consuming.

Thank you Sourcebooks Bloom Books for my copy.

I.AM.SCREAMING right now... and it's a good scream. After American Queen, I have this sort of expectation that American Prince will have the same writing style .. well it is still the same however, the themes were more pronounced and and intended.

The characters were more broken than ever and I guess, my aftershock from American Queen faded off while going through this one. Sure, the intimately brutal moments were still there but it was written purposely.

Unlike the first book, the setting and political intrigues was made as a focal point which I guess made more sense as we progress to American King

2/5 ⭐
3/5 🌶️

I'm still enjoying this series, but there's a few things I'm really getting hung up on too. Overall I'm really happy I've read it, but I'm not sure I'm loving it. American Prince did not live up to the hype for me... There were a few things I liked more than Queen, but overall it was just an okay read for me.

The audio narrators were good, not amazing, but good. I enjoyed their acting and thought they played the parts well. However, I can't really recommend it as a listen because this book goes back and forth across the timeline so often that it's really hard to keep straight about where you are on it.

While I mostly enjoyed the story, I was overwhelmed by the other woman drama and miscommunication drama that really seemed to take over this story. Again this is a me problem, but I found it really unenjoyable and was hoping this book would have more suspense and action (SHE WAS KIDNAPPED FOR CRYING OUT LOUD) and it was once again just filled with what felt like unnecessary drama.

<spoiler>I think my biggest gripe is that there are no trigger warnings and while I do not have a lot of them, family love is a big one. Was this family love on the page? No. Thank goodness. And I was even okay with it when it was talked about in passing because they didn't know they were siblings. But it turns out they have a freaking child together and now that poor child is going to be possibly outed to the world as a product of something illegal and immoral and now I'm just stunned and don't know how to process this. </spoiler>

I'm heading on to King... My hopes are a little demolished at this point, but I do want to see how everything plays out.

*I have edited my stars after "finishing" (really DNFing) the series. Please note there are no trigger warnings for this story and there are plenty of them to be concerned about. These include but are not limited to: incest, date rape, cheating and bdsm kinks

I fell in love with Embry in this book and I absolutely ended up hating Embry in this book.
This book will take you through ALL of the emotions.
You learn a good bit about Embry and Ash's time in the military and how their relationship started.
You also see how the current relationship is progressing ang all of the drama that is unfolding in that timeline.
You are left with a complete bomb being dropped on you at the end of this book.

This book flows so smoothly. I love the aspect of going from their past to their present. The mystery and magic of this book has the reader so invested that you really can't put it down! Embry is still my favorite of this threesome, and he continues to to be so strong, so stoic and just my favorite part of this series. I loved constantly being surprised by every turn this author takes me on!

I devoured this in two sittings!

American Prince picks up where American Queen leaves off. In this installment you get Emory’s POV with a bit from Greer. It’s told in “Before” and “After” perspectives.

I can’t wait to see the wrap up!

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for this eARC in return of an honest review!

Oh my God I thought I loved the 1st book. It does not compare to this one. I was en captured during this entire book. It was spacier than the 1st one and the story is it will not ever leave my mind. I love this and as soon as I finished it. Took a break to get a drink and grab a bite to eat and instantly started the next one.

4.5⭐️ this series is just everything. I loved learning more about Embry & Ash’s history in this one. A lot of flashbacks and the plot happening in real time was also really juicy. I just adore Sierra’s writing and the way she can develop characters is simply masterful!!

This is book 2 of the New Camelot trilogy by Sierra Simone. This was a great follow up to the first book and I liked learning more about Ash and Embry's backstory. I cannot wait to start the third book!

4/5⭐️
5/5🌶️

this book picks off immediately where book 1 (american queen) left off but this book takes us mostly through embry’s story. we get to see his past with ash, his current time with ash and greer, and then bit of greer’s present as well. this book has so much more plot packed into it than book 1 did and i was genuinely really intrigued by what was going on in the story AND hooked with the spice of course. 🥵 if you enjoyed the spice in book 1, book 2 is definitely comparable. sierra simone always hits with spice and you cannot convince me otherwise. i loved all of the political intrigue and relationships that we got to see in this book. that last chapter?? so many things were revealed. so many secrets and lies that i was literally gasping out loud. i need book 3 immediately

“the difference is that i’m not afraid to do what needs to be done. and i think you are.”

Love everything about this series. It's so good. Spicy, an amazing spin on King Arthur. Just perfection.

The Camelot series has me screaming oh no, she didn't multiple times. American Prince, the seond novel in the trio, definitely has those moments.

American Prince is told mainly through Embry's point of view with Greer's sprinkled in. Taking off right after American Queen's cliffhanger, readers get to see the tension eminating between Ash and Embry. The tension just gets higher as the story continues. Embry is used to being cut off of the center and being picked last. He's used to tragedy befalling him. In the name of love, he's gotta choose what he deserves best: lost love. American Prince is Embry's story. Get ride for a WIILD ride.

I devoured American Prince in two reading settings. It was that good that I couldn't put down the book and kept saying "wtf" multiple times. You think you have seen everything with American Queen but Sierra Simone assures you that was just the beginning. Filled with sexual scenes, romantic trysts and flashbacks, American Prince was a fantastic sophmore novel in the trio.

* I would caution readers to check the trigger warnings before diving into this one.*

Just when I thought this story could be any more dysfunctional. Ding ding … I was so wrong!

Ok so this book is mainly Embry’s perspective. Embry Moore the Vice president of the United States. The Embry who for me was a redeeming character from book 1. Well take that thought and throw it out the damn window, because the Embry in this book is such a contradiction, a polar opposite of the Embry I saw something in.

I have to say this book is better than book 1 IMO - as it fleshes out the relationship between Ash and Embry. It surpasses either of their relationships with Greer, and really I don’t understand their infatuation with her, except her necessity to Ash as a partner given his political position as POTUS. I just see her as whimpering and insipid and something for them to stick their bits in. But make it blonde...

This book was really graphic and sordid when it comes to Embry rescuing Greer (major ick factor) and also Ash and the degree of nasty we see from him.

I have to say I do like the the author’s writing and her ability to tie the story together, both the wow factor and the ick factor, even though I can’t get past them to say I love these characters or the books per se.

I am waiting with baited breath however to see Abilene dealt with hopefully in the way she deserves in book 3. I mean Greer is a waste of space, but she hasn’t (initially a bad bone in her body) but Abilene is another story.
