This was just absolutely delightful. Sorcery of Thorns is one of my all-time favorite books and I was beyond excited when this sequel novella was announced, and it did not disappoint! It was fluffy, domestic, cute, magical, and funny. I loved seeing the development of Elisabeth and Silas's relationship especially and I'm so glad that we got this extra time with these characters. The epilogue was absolutely fantastic and Silas will continue to be a favorite of mine. Also shout-out to Margaret Rogerson for continuing to be very explicit about Nathaniel's bisexuality!

If you enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns, there's no doubt that you'll enjoy this novella!

Mysteries of Thorn Manor delivers on the promise of Rogerson's previous novels and is a pitch perfect return to the world she has crafted. This novella is a gift to fans, exemplifying the cozy fantasy genre that is taking book social media by storm right now.

Absolutely perfect. Exactly what I wanted when I heard we were getting to return to this world and these characters. My only complaint--I didn't want it to end!

Thank you so much to Simon Teen for letting me read this early in exchange for a review.

This was a perfect novella where we got to catch up with Elisabeth and Nathaniel and Silas after the events of Sorcery of Thorns. What a perfect cozy magical story.

What a cute and cozy read, a perfect follow up Novella to Sorcery of Thorns. I was always bummed that it was just one book, so it was nice to see more about Nathaniel and Elisabeth, and also some secrets of Thorn Manor and its history. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book!

This was a delightfully fluffy romp back in a favorite, cozy fantasy world. It felt wonderful being reconnected with Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas under low stakes and mysterious circumstances. My only gripe is that I needed more! No spoilers, but the ending leaves things open with Silas and I’m hoping this means even more tales in this beloved setting to settle old scores. Regardless, this one had all the feels, all the swoons, and was essentially like being wrapped in a warm hug with a cup of your favorite warm beverage by a roaring fire. Highly recommended to fans of Sorcery of Thorns!

In this sequel novella to Sorcery of Thorns, Nathaniel and Elisabeth are together at Thorn Manor and trapped inside with Silas and the new maid Mercy. The manor is protesting the fact that Nathaniel isn’t married or engaged and in this protest, the manor has locked them inside and created a tremendous storm outside that will continue until he does something to remedy the situation. A fun, lighthearted novella, 4 stars!

Likes/dislikes:
I thoroughly enjoyed the charm and light humor in this novella. The characters are fun and care for each other’s wellbeing. It’s a quick lighthearted read.
Violence:
None
Mature content: PG for kissing and the mention of a kiss between Nathaniel and an old acquaintance, Felix.
Language Content: G for no swears.

Oh how I just love these characters. I did a re-read of A Sorcery of Thorns right before I jumped in and I am so glad I did. I enjoy the characters, the banter, the manor. Even thought she wasn't seen much Mercy is a great little addition to the story. My only complaint is that it is a novella and not a full length sequel so please, Ms. Rogerson, please give us more! Can I also just mention that eye candy that is the cover, gorgeous!

Mysteries of Thorn Manor was a short trip back into the world of Nathaniel Thorn and Elisabeth. The house was up in arms and needing Nathaniel and Elisabeth to pledge their love. The mysterious rooms and the house/wards fighting back against them made this read light and fun. I personally would have loved even more details entwined throughout the book, but I still enjoyed this read.

I LOVED A Sorcery of Thorns, and I absolutely adored this revisit to this world. The characters were just as perfect and it was such a fun little novella. I hope she returns to the Thorn universe because I need more!

I would read Nathaniel and Elisabeth doing absolutely anything, so this novella following the events of Sorcery of Thorns, is everything I could have wanted. In this novella, we follow Nathaniel and Elisabeth navigate the ever-confusing and changing Manor of Nathaniel ancestors. There is magic, romance, found family, and grimoires, of course. Reading this filled me with so much joy and coziness! I absolutely loved witnessing Nathaniel and Elisabeth’s romantic relationship develop even more throughout this story. I wish we would have gotten a better glance into their futures, especially Elisabeth’s, since she has unique talents and a special affinity for the grimoires. I need more of them!!

Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing for giving me a digital arc of this book

Sometime last year, in 2021, I saw many people raving about Sorcery of Thorns. They described it as a book that feels like the Hogwarts library and that got me hooked. I really loved Sorcery of Thorns, I gave it 3.75/5 stars. SO when I saw that a sequel novella was coming out I was stoked, however this one let me down.

While I would recommend you read it if you are a fan of the characters, I wouldn’t have high expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a glimpse back into Nathaniel and Elisabeths’s relationship, the ending fell flat for me… I’m hoping that means there’s gonna be another novella haha.

3.5/5 stars

This was a delightful read for anyone who enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns and wants to spend more time with the characters. The plot is lighthearted and mostly character-driven. Set in the days leading up to a Midwinter Ball, it’s a lovely, cozy “holiday special” of a novella.

I loved the chance to revisit Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas. It had been a while since I’d read Sorcery of Thorns, though, so some of the plot details were hazy for me. For that reason, I recommend reading this soon after the first one.

Overall, a really enjoyable read. I’d love to see Rogerson write a full sequel for this series!

this has to be one of the fluffiest novellas i’ve ever read in MY LIFE. everything about this was so warm and fuzzy, i wish it was longer! it was so fun seeing more of elisabeth and nathaniel’s relationship (plus some more silas!!!) and of course the writing was AMAZING! the end to this novella definitely feels like an opening for another book or a a spin off within this series/world which would be such a great surprise considering i could never get enough of these characters and margaret rogerson’s writing!

Sorcery of Thorns was one of my 5-star reads of 2021. Getting approved for this sequel novella was icing on the cake. I love that it mainly concentrated on the three main characters plus the new maid, Mercy.

It had funny moments and we got to know a little about Silas but I wish there was more. There was some rigidity, a reluctance between Elisabeth and Silas unlike the first book which I didn’t care for. Mercy, on the other hand, was a great addition.

The relationship between Elisabeth and Nathaniel was very sweet although the ending felt like teaser. Maybe there’s an actual sequel after all.

Thank you, @netgalley and @simonandschuster, @simonteen for the eARC in return for an honest review.

This book was everything I had hoped it would be! The characters, the setting, the story was perfection. I loved it. If you liked Sorcery of Thorns (which I'm not sure how you could not love it), then this book is an exceptional addition to the series! The writing is gorgeous, the story is captivating, and overall just a beautiful book! Highly recommend.

This was a really fun novella. It had the feel of being a snippet of life after the end of Sorcery of Thorns, but not a full sequel.
The Manor has trapped Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Mercy and Silas (yes, Silas!). The wards are going crazy and are keeping everyone inside. It was really fun almost getting to know the Manor as well as the characters more. We explore many rooms looking for reasons for the out of control wards and find out that when rooms are no longer in use, they kind of get folded into the manor. So we even get to explore rooms that no one has used in years and years.
Elisabeth and Nathaniel get to explore their relationship through humor and their inner most fears and forced proximity. It is very sweet watching their relationship grow. I loved seeing Silas again after the scare at the end of Sorcery of Thorns and Mercy was a fun addition to the gang.
The epilogue showed another side to Silas and I'm really hoping we get more books in this universe!

Sorcery of Thorns was one of my favorite reads a couple of years ago, so I was very excited when I got the opportunity to read this sequel novella! I love the relationships between Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas. It was so much fun to get to dive back into this world again for a short while.

I enjoyed getting to explore Thorn Manor on a more focused level in this novella. Getting to discover more about Nathaniel's past, as well as Silas', was a lot of fun as well. I enjoyed learning more about their history and seeing how it contributed to the people they became. It also gave really cozy vibes, what with them all being trapped inside and it being winter.

Seeing the relationship between Elisabeth and Nathaniel develop into something deeper made my heart happy. I loved seeing the beginning of their love story in Sorcery of Thorns, so seeing them continue to be happy together here was just what the doctor ordered.

I don't want to say too much and give away any important plot points. So, I will conclude this review by saying, if you enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns, you will really enjoy Mysteries of Thorn Manor. I'm hoping this is an indicator of the series continuing from here!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I gave Mysteries of Thorn Manor 4.5 Stars!

Elisabeth and Nathaniel are the absolute love of my life and apple of my eyes. And there’s nobody who’s more than happy to be meeting them and reading about them, their findings, anew experiences. This book was one cozy, comfort read for me that provided one extra glimpse of one of my absolute favourite characters. Henceforth, I extremely loved it
