This was a really cute Christmas romance. I loved how the spirit of Christmas was created, and how the autor kept the history of Santa Claus but with changing it a bit. The romance was cute and classic, the end was a bit rushed tho. The only incoherence was when she cooked the morning and then we forget about that and another breakfast appeared 2 minutes later. Apart from that I really like the book, really comforting book

Absolutely loved the story between Mason and Lyla. It was better than a hallmark movie and just what I needed to prepare for the upcoming christmas season. It was amazingly written and it read so smooth. I can highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fun enemies to lovers book full with Christmas and winter vibes

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because I did enjoy it quite a bit.
I loved the premise of this book. And honestly I loved the first part of this book.
This book warmed my Christmas heart with the ins and outs of Yule and the magic of Christmas.
Mason and Lyla - holy slow burn. But like extreme slow burn. Grumpy x sunshine? Work place rivalry? Enemies to lovers? It kind of fits all three.
What I didn't love - how rushed the end was. The major conflict and subsequent resolution happened in a span of about 30 pages. I was left with questions, I wanted the descriptions and the build up like the rest of the book but it just felt like it just ended so quick. I did appreciate it being wrapped up in a semi complete way but I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kate Callaghan (CallaghanWriter) for the ARC eBook in exchange for my honest review.

In The Naughty Or Nice Clause we get to know Lyla Smurfit and Mason Klaus, they can't stand each other, however they have to endure it for the sake of the company they both manage.

Mason is grumpy and controlling while Lyla is sweet and caring.

After a decision she made that end with part of their company building burned, Mason comes with a deal to make it even, so they find themselves in a magical wonderland where Mason comes from. There is when Lyla learns that Mason has been keeping a magical secret and his surname has a lot to do with a certain someone who wears a red suit and delivers gifts every Christmas.

Sharing that trip together give them the opportunity to get to know each other in a deeper way, and their chemistry starts to develops, also, Lyla discovers that Mason is not so grumpy as he seems to be and that the way he behaves has a lot to do with some things that happened to him in the past.

I feel like the end was a little bit rushed and abrupt, I would like to know more about Lyla and Mason as a couple.

Final thoughts, it is a good read but not memorable.

I give it a 3.5/5. I enjoyed this book and it truly gave me all the Christmas feels. I was interested in seeing how this played out as it interested me and I wasn’t disappointed! It was a different book than what I gravitate towards and happy I have it a shot!

This is a wonderful Christmas read, with plenty of humour, romance and Fantasy adding to the mix.

The characters are well developed and there is certainly no rush into the romance.

A treat for anytime of the year, but especially for the Christmas holiday.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved the magical elements of the story, and they were a new twist on a holiday romance. I don't usually like stories with magical elements, but I loved the magical world of Yule. I enjoyed the Klaus family, and I think that those characters added a lot to the story.

The romance didn't work as much for me. I didn't feel like Mason and Lyla spent enough time developing their relationship. It felt very rushed, and I wanted to see more time spent with them. I love a story with fake dating, and it delivered on that end for me.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I didn't like the ending. I love an HEA, but this one didn't feel certain enough for me. I still don't know how they were going to make it all work. What was Lyla's decision? How did they figure it all out? I would have appreciated an epilogue. It would have added so much to the story and wrapped everything up.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

I was in a mood to read a warm and fuzzy Christmas-themed book this week. I felt so lucky to have found this quick and easy light-hearted romance novel by @callaghanwriter through Netgalley. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.

The story was about Lyla Smurfit had inherited a toy company from her father. Not unexpectedly, her father was bankrupt and her shares was sold to Mason Klaus, an uncaring investor known in the company. Lyla had to work with Mason despite the fact that they don’t like each other.

An unfortunate incident happened in the office after an annual Christmas party organized by Lyla, Mason thought of take her with him to his family for his family’s twelve day of Christmas tradition. He offered Lyla a deal to acquit herself from the circumstance. Little did she know, she’ll be taken into this magical Christmas village called Yule.

It sounded like a Mr. Grumpy and Ms. Sunshine, wasn’t it? The sarcasm and banters in between the two main characters had made them a cute couple all throughout the story. Yes, they had their own personal issues, but it wasn’t toxic nor dramatic at all. The setting of the story was in Yule, which was around 9 hours away from Dublin, Ireland. The experience was truly pleasant. As a reader, I had felt the warm and friendly atmosphere of this magical Christmas-y small town village.

All in all, it is a sweet story and a perfect holiday read if you are in the mood of Christmas season. Make yourself warm with a cup of hot chocolate, soft pillows, cozy bed and snuggle up with a blanket.

*3.5 Stars*

The Naughty or Nice Clause is a lighthearted read, perfect for those who want to get into the romantic Christmas spirit and view details as background noise.
Mason is the son of Santa Clause. Lyla is the daughter and recent inheritor of a toy-making business. They are thrown together when Lyla's father sells his portion of the company to Mason, giving him a controlling share. Unfortunately, Mason seems to be a Scrooge for all intents and purposes, and he and Lyla's personalities clash immediately.
This book features the tropes: enemies to loves, sharing a bed, and fake dating, with a dash of damsel in distress. I'm a big fan of enemies to lovers and fake dating, so I loved the banter between Lyla and Mason. However, there's not a lot of tension between the characters because the pacing is somewhat off, especially toward the end of the book. The author could have spent a bit more time fleshing out the story's villain and supporting characters so that the ending didn't feel rushed.
This definitely reads like fluffy fanfiction or a Hallmark movie on the printed page, by which I mean the reader knows that this is a low-stakes read. There's not much for plot drama, and when it does happen, it resolves itself fairly quickly. I happen to enjoy this sort of book. If that's not your thing, you should probably skip this one. As an avid high fantasy reader, the world-building leaves much to be desired, but I'm also not going into a book like this to read about the magical world of Yule. I'm in it to scream at these two idiots to 'kiss already!' And you get plenty of that in this novel.

Lyla's family toy business is in trouble and Mason is brought on to save the day, not by Lyla's choice though. Mason is making a lot of cuts, ones Lyla doesn't like and refuses to admit might just save the company. The final straw is cancelling the Christmas office party. So Lyla organizes one to be be held at the office. Unfortunately, it doesn't end well and to make amends to Mason she agrees to go home with him for the holidays after his father passes away. Lyla doesn't entirely understand it since they are definitely not friends, but she also knows what it's like to loose a parent, and no one should have to go through that alone.

But Mason's homes town is not what she thought it would be and apparently, the only way to get there is to travel by bell? And she has to pretend to be his fiancé or the town council will wipe her memory? Lyla has no idea what she's gotten herself into, but Mason doesn't seem to be the person she thought he was. And maybe the family company isn't as important as she thought it was?

I loved the idea behind this book, and the concept of the story was great, but it just didn't seem fully developed to me. While I enjoyed the family relationship aspect of this story, I felt like Lyla's feelings on Mason weren't explored to their fullest extent. I also wish there had been more discussion between them on their feelings changing for each other. Everything just felt a little rushed and underdeveloped. It was a cute story and I'm not mad a I read it, but I wouldn't read it again.

The Naughty or Nice Clause is a cute enemies to lovers trope between a woman, Lyla, who found out someone to come save her toy company.

Enter Mason Claus and these two cannot stand each other. The two fight over the company's Christmas party. Mason says no, however the party carried on. While at the party, Lyla thought she saw some staff "getting it on" in an office down the hall from the party, only to find Mason drunk and upset. Lyla gets him home and leaves once he's settled and asleep. The next day Mason arrives at her house to ask her to go back home with him in a cryptic way and to act like his fiance. Lyla travels to Mason's home only to discover the most magical wonderland only to find her cold heart against the man she despises starts to warm.

Kate Callaghan's The Naughty or Notice Claus is a very cute rom com with some holiday cheer!

A very christmassy workplace enemies to lovers book.

This was kind of a slow burn enemies to lovers. And the banter between Lyla & Mason was so cute and made me love them more. 💕Although I wish it wasn't as slow as it was l still really enjoyed it. It felt like i was reading a Hallmark movie and I loved that about it.

And the way that Yule was described was so wonderfully done, at times it made me wish we could truly experience something like that.✨

Also, Kevin was hands-down my favorite. But I truly enjoyed getting to know about mason, not only through his eyes but also from how his family & the village talked about him.

The only issue I had was that the ending felt a bit rushed. I would have liked if there was an epilogue set years later showing us their progress in both the company & their relationship.

Overall I was hooked from the start. Definitely would recommend if you like holiday rom-com stories.

I have mixed feelings about this one!! Minor spoilers ahead.

What I liked:

I really enjoyed the world building with Yule and the Christmasy feel of the whole book.

I liked Kevin, Lou and Mrs, Klaus and there was a lot of potential here!! I wish we got to see more of each of their personalities instead of their archetypes.

I liked the magic aspect of Yule, and that the magic felt real and like it “could be”. It was understated in the best way.

What I didn’t like:

The romance fell flat for me. I felt like the characters never spent any time together, and Lyla in particular only learned things about Mason from other characters. I don’t want to be told it, I want to see it. The dialogue wasn’t great, and I never got a feel for who Mason was with Lyla.

I didn’t like the revengeful ex storyline… aren’t we past this?! It’s 2022!!

I’m still not really sure what role the Klaus does? I felt like their role in the village wasn’t well executed, and didn’t add up for me. I still have lots of logistical questions that didn’t really get explained or answered. Why can’t he just say No if he’s a King?

The ending was problematic and rushed. I didn’t like how Lyla, a driven CEO folded as soon as Mason got his panties in a twist, even when she was (rightfully) doing succession planning. I felt like this whole scene was out of character for both Mason and Lyla. The reconciliation and HEA didn’t really add up for me. Mason chose Lyla, sure but did Lyla choose Mason?

Thank you for the eARC I’m exchange for this review!

This one needs to be on your holiday TBR! Mark that pub date on your calendar ASAP!

I loved this book!

First of all I will say that Netgalley has this tagged as sci-fi/Fanatasy, but it's not super hard-core fantasy at all. I think its more reminiscent of Elf or The Santa Clause.

I really liked the banter between Lyla and Mason. They made a really cute couple! I will say that the burn was definitely slowwwww, and I wish it was a little faster.

Another thing I really loved about the book was the setting. I wanted to be in the secret village so much! It really sounded like a christmas lovers dream!

The book started out pretty slow in the beginning but it did pick up the pace. There was a lot of anticipation surrounding Lyla and Mason's relationship. It was really enjoyable seeing how their relationship started to evolve. If you're someone who doesn't like insta-love, I Think you'd find this one enjoyable.

Another aspect I really enjoyed about this book was its description of Christmas and Santa. It was very different from the traditional explanation of Santa's workshop and how the presents are delivered. The uniqueness with which the author addressed such a traditional topic was super refreshing and enjoyable!

Over all I highly recommend this book! It was a great holiday read that I won't soon forget!

This was really not my thing. It read like a Hallmark movie. There was basically no spice. The lines were very predictable.

The Naughty Or Nice Clause is a very slow-burn enemies-to-lovers book. Lyla's father has retired and given his shares to outsider Mason Klaus, meaning that he owns 1% more of the company. Mason cancels the Christmas party but Lyla decides to go ahead and throw the party anyway which ends in a disaster. Mason bribes Lyla to come along to his family as his fiancee, and in return, he forgets about the party.

I really enjoyed this book, I thought it was a fun and lighthearted Christmas book. It was nice to see the development of Mason and to read about his character background. Kevin, Mason's brother is one of the sweetest characters ever, you will love him! The end seemed a bit sudden, I would have liked to have read at least an epilogue or a bit more of the characters together. It seemed that the journey of the characters liking each other took the majority of the book. I'm not really into extra slow-burn romance books, so maybe that's why.
