Fun and whimsical. I was a little confused at first, but enjoyed the stories and characters! I enjoyes the dynamics of the main couple. The supporting characters were fun too. I had such a blast reading it. X

Thank you to NetGalley for an E-arc of this book!

This is a sugary sweet blend of Santa Claus and the Proposal, it has a unique take on the magical world of the North Pole, and has the most wonderful Christmas atmosphere. I felt so warm and cozy every moment I spent in this story, I wish I could live in the beautiful Klaus cabin. I enjoy seeing some of my favourite tropes - one bed always makes my heart flutter - and all of the fun winter activities really helped set the mood for the story.

I think using workplace rivals in a magical Christmas setting is very unique and interesting choice, but the overall pace of the story feels like it leaves something to be desired between Lyla and Mason. There’s a good mix of distain and desire in their dynamic, but a lot of the important relationship defining moments throughout the story feel glossed over and rushed. Rather than being shown their rivalry, I feel like the reader is simply told that they are rivals without enough time to back it up. I didn’t feel that they developed a deep connection, or that they were given a lot of time together to grow their relationship. Much of the story revolves around explaining how the magical world works, or putting Lyla is fun or dramatic scenarios in which she needs to be quickly saved, without giving the main couple enough focus to build their romantic connection properly.

Overall this is a very sweet story for the holidays, and anyone who adores Christmas will love the vibes of this one. As for the relationship itself, while a little lacking in anything overly exciting, I enjoyed my time with Lyla and Mason.

I enjoyed this book. I did. Truly.

The writing was not what I was used to, but it wasn't bad by any means. But it felt very much like I was supposed to know these characters already. I felt like I missed the 'getting to know you' phase of meeting Lyla and Mason, which is often the case when you read fast-paced novels or novellas. That being said, I really liked Mason. He was sweet and mercurial, and for as much as Lyla hated him, I loved him.

I also enjoyed the magic element even though I was surprised!

I think the first 75% was great, but the ending felt incredibly rushed. Like there should've been A LOT more to how everything gets resolved. One moment they're fighting and mad, and the next they're working it out and the book is over. It felt unsatisfying.

Overall, it wasn't bad, and I would probably recommend it to someone itching for a Christmas romance.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

This book would make a great hallmark movie with all the Christmas feels. Estranged son who is heir to the Klaus legacy. Unique take on “Santa” and the “North Pole”. We have the enemies to lovers with the jealous ex, family secrets, misunderstandings and found family. I didn’t have enough of the back story on the main characters before we were transported to Yule. Quick read with a happy ending.

Sexy Hallmark movie vibes! I do wish the book had been just a tad bit longer, to work on developing the characters a little more. I felt that that enemies part of the “enemies to lovers” trope could’ve been focused on longer - with Mason and Lyla hating each other in the office. That being said though, the way the author took the Santa angle and gave it a twist was perfect! I’ve read lots of “Santa Claus” romance books and none have felt more unique and detailed! With it being a shorter book, I was worried some of the details wouldn’t make sense in the fantasy world of Yule. I was pleasantly surprised when I was proved wrong, and found myself hoping that there could possibly be future stories set in the same world. Enemies to Lovers? ✔️ Fake Engagement? ✔️ Forced Proximity? ✔️ Winter Wonderland? ✔️ Overall, I’d give it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, and 🌶🌶 rating.

*Thanks to NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for my review of this book!*

This is a Christmas-themed, enemies turned lovers book with mild sexual themes.

Summary: Lyla inherits her grandfather’s company after his death and is shocked when 51% of the companies shares are sold to Mason, a grinchy, no-nonsense businessman who cancels the company’s Christmas party after closing some of their toy shops. Lyla throws the party anyway, to disastrous ends and agrees to make it up to Mason by going home with him to his family’s house for Christmas. It’s Mason’s first time home after a decade, and he’s hesitant to return because of his father’s desire for him to take over the family business. But, after his father’s sudden passing, he can’t put it off any longer and goes home, bringing Lyla with him for moral support. Will the magic of the Christmas season be able to bring them together?

Review: I absolutely loved the descriptions of the magical Christmas town called Yule. Kate Callaghan did a masterful job taking the Hallmark Christmas Movie trope and making it her own. The compassion both Lyla and Mason develop for one another as they let down their guard and become vulnerable with one another is heartwarming and fully encapsulates the Christmas spirit. I also loved her descriptions of the rest of Mason’s family, especially Lou - the gruff, protective older sister with a heart of gold. I do wish that there was slightly more development of the character Natalie and resolution to her story arc, but overall, this was an engaging and entertaining read that made me look forward to the start of this Christmas season and should be a must-read by lovers of Hallmark Christmas movies!

Thank you to NetGalley, CallaghanWriter, and the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) for the DRC.

While everyone is excited for spooky books and fall I’m skipping all that and diving right into Christmas! I’m a sucker for cheesy hallmark Christmas movies, so if you’re like me you’ll love this book!

My new thing is choosing books by their title and cover, i don’t read the back! I was never expecting this book to combine magic, Christmas and love!

You know how when you watch a hallmark movie there is always something absurd that happens and causes you to roll your eyes (in a good way)? That’s exactly what happened when Mason grabbed the bell out of his pocket. I was blown away at how well Kate described the town of Yule, it’s like i was right there sipping coffee with Lyla in the Peppermint & Pumpkin Coffee Shop (isn’t that the cutest name!?).

Lyla and Mason’s relationship will keep you on your toes, one minute they’re screaming at each other and the next they can’t keep their hands off each other. You’ll also fall in love with the Klaus family, I was just as scared to lose them as Lyla was!

The ending, i had guessed incorrectly but the ending Kate chose is the most realistic, no one gives up what they love and they still live happily ever after!

Add this to your holiday TBR now!!

Cute, but a little too much. For me, the romance was just too slow of a burn. When it finally got resolved, the book was nearly over.

I’ll be honest overall it was a cute book, I was confused for a bit with the fantasy world part. The way they could travel to a place and back was unique in my opinion, you don’t see that often. It was fast paced thought with the Character dynamic together. Overall it was a cute book to read and would recommend

I wish we had gotten more time between Mason and Lyla being workplace enemies and her being thrown into the world of magic and the town of Yule since it happened so fast. I also think the ending was kind of rushed. Because of that third-act breakup, I was hoping for more of a powerful ending, but it was still cute nonetheless.

Workplace rivals featuring Santa’s hot son and forced proximity in the North Pole? Count me in. It was so cozy and sweet, I loved every part. The ending wrapped up a little quickly, but I still loved the book nonetheless. This was a great holiday read so when it comes out this November I strongly urge you to pick it up. Thank you NetGalley and CallaghanWriter for providing me with an ARC.

My favorite trope is enemies to lovers and this was just it. It was a really cute story and although I do not like holiday romances this was really good. I highly suggest it especially on Christmas holidays.

Thank you for a chance to review early and what. Great book. Easy reading but with enough to keep the interest going. I loved the love hate relationship between the two main characters and enjoyed the way the relationship blossomed into so much more. Include the magic of christmas and magic dust and hidden villages made this so enjoyable. Something i will definitely read again in the lead up to christmas 👍

This is a different holiday romance and a totally different take on the Santa and reindeer games. Lyla and Mason are like oil and water, with a few wolves to heighten the story dram. This is a break from the expected sugar and spice holiday cheer with a little dark fairytale mixed in. Very enjoyable read.

I definitely was not expecting to read a Christmas book in September, but I could not resist when I saw this cover! It just looked so comforting and cozy even in the midst of the 90-degree days we're still experiencing in Texas. Anyway, this was a really cute and fast read, and the perfect way to get in the mood for the upcoming fall/winter/holiday season.

When Lyla's father retires to spend his time vacationing with wife number four (or 5? it's hard to keep track...), Lyla expects to inherit his position as CEO of the toy company that's been an integral part of their family for generations. However, it turns out her father has given majority shares of the company to Mason Klaus, as the company is about to go under and needs to be bailed out by a wealthy and calculating investor/businessman. Lyla is forced to co-run the company with Mason, and the two consistently clash over how things should be done. Despite that, due to Lyla's misguided attempt to brighten the spirits of the company employees through a last-minute Christmas party that results in a fire, Lyla and Mason's fates are irrevocably intertwined when he decides Lyla must make reparations for the fire by accompanying him to visit his parents for the holidays. You can maybe make a bit of a guess where they might live..

Even though romance is not my favorite genre, for some reason I am a bit of a sucker for the holiday romances, and it's hard for me to turn down one with an enemies-to-lovers slant. This had a nice dose of that amidst a snowy yet cheery setting. The characters were overall pretty likable, and I especially enjoyed the interactions with Mason's family members. Some of the details about what Mason's family does to spread Christmas cheer were a little vague and confusing to me, but I can't really get into it without giving spoilers. There was one seemingly "spicy" scene that I did skip over, so I can't really attest to the overall spiciness level.

I would definitely recommend this if you are a fan of cozy romances and if you want to get a head start on the holiday season. Thanks so much to Kate Callaghan, the publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC!

Enormous Christmas Cosy Feels!!!

This is one of the best Christmas stories I've read in quite a while. Entertaining, family orientated, romantic and with a little bit of a complication and some magic.

Hallmark Christmas movie meets The Santa Clause (movie)
Super cute read! I loved the banter between the MCs. I thought
some of the lines were overused though. Also I kinda wanted
more spice. I didn't really like that the MMC "worked in the
workshop" most days. It felt like an out to not have to write him
in as much and an easy way to drag out the slow burn aspect.
very much enjoyed the development of the supporting
characters though.
