Being Naughty Has Never Been So Nice!

When Lyla’s father retired as CEO of the toy company which has been in their family for generations, she was meant to receive his shares. Instead, she discovers the company is bankrupt and her father has given her shares to Mason Klaus, an investor known in the corporate world for his cold and callous nature. Much to Lyla’s frustration, her only option is to run the company with him, despite their evident loathing for one another.

When Mason cancels the annual Christmas party, Lyla throws it anyway – only for the event of the season to result in a terrible fire. With the offices and Lyla’s credibility ruined, Mason offers her a deal: he’ll forget her part in the disaster, but she must join his family for the twelve days of their Christmas holidays.

Taken to a fantastical winter wonderland, Lyla hopes that she might discover some of the secrets Mr Klaus is hiding, and maybe even a way to get her company back. However, when Mason introduces her to the secret village as his fiancée, she is horrified to realise she has no choice but to go along with the pretence – because the cost of bringing an outsider to their magical land is far too high.

Can Lyla resist the devilishly handsome Mr Klaus and the enchanting village to win back her company, or will she give into temptation?

Loved this book. Highly recommend. I'm a little late in posting this summary, but it was a great book to get me in the Christmas spirit and I loved the enemies to lovers and fake dating tropes. Honestly, this book could be read at any time of the year, but regardless of the timing JUST READ IT! You won't be disappointed. I read it so quickly because once I started it, I couldn't put it down!!!

If you love the warm fuzzy feels of a festive Hallmark story, annnnddd the office tension of stories like The Hating Game this is the perfect book for you!

The story begins with perfectly captured corporate life before Lyla's life gets turned upside down.
Forced to spend the holidays with Mason Klaus (who's basically the Grinch) her Christmas isn't exactly going to plan.

Add a fake relationship, fantastical world and a couple of wolves (and strawberries) and you'll understand just what Lyla expirences in this magic whirlwind

It’s the perfect time for a good Christmas romance and “The Naughty or Nice Clause” is a good choice. Author Kate Callaghan has wrapped up an enemies-to-friends tale with a magical Christmas love story.

Lyla Smurfit and Mason Klaus are at odds over the running of her grandfather’s company and, when a minor disaster closes the office over Christmas, Mason coerces Lyla to travel home with him to face his family and the death of his father, not to mention the pressure on him to take over his father’s business in the town of Yule.

The characters are mostly likable, the town of Yule is charming and the developing relationship between Lyla and Mason is paced very slowly compared to the climactic confrontation and nearly disastrous ending.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest voluntary review.

Keeping this short and sweet, this was a miss for me...I didn't care for the "romance" of this book. I went into it thinking "oh this will be a cutesy little Hallmark-esque book" it was not. I powered through it though

While this was a quick and easy holiday read, I feel like nothing made this book stand out to me. As much as I love a fake dating trope & a holiday read, this slow burn was a little too slow for me. As a party planner myself, I did enjoy that aspect of the book too. Definitely not a bad read but I’m not sure if I would go out of my way to recommend this one during the next holiday season!

I'm going to start off by saying I love and support Indie authors! Sometimes they bang out the best reads. I love me a good romance, especially a holiday romance. *Cheesiness ensues* I LOVE enemies to lovers, but also fake dating! I loved the setting and plot of the book, and would definitely revisit come Christmas time!

Loved this one, I read it over the Christmas holiday and it was such a fun read. Loved the characters and their love-hate relationship. It perfectly captured the magic of Christmas, which is why I love reading these kinds of books over the holidays. Thank you for bringing a little bit of magic (and romance) to the holidays.

Felt a little to Hallmark Christmas-y in a bad way. We had a cute story line and interesting plot twist but no chemistry between the FMC & MMC. Will recommend to friends that are looking for something a little more cutesy during the holidays.

this was a cute book, but i wouldn’t necessarily categorize it as romance. there were great characters through the story, but the overall storyline kinda felt a little lost to me and rushed.

This was not a terrible book, it was just not a book for me. I was looking for something that leaned In further to the scifi elements, and it felt too hallmark for my reading tastes. That being said, I’m sure lots of readers will love it!

Thank you so much Netgalley for the eArc!

The cover of the book gave me completely different vibes from that of the book. There is a darker cover that makes it a little more sense, but it is a mix of everything that works with a 'Christmas romance'.
We have a woman who assumed she would be completely in charge of her family's toy company but is now answering to a supposedly ruthless man who has turned worse companies around. This is the set-up, and the writing led me well till this point. Once the romance started to build, I was no longer enjoying it as much. Something felt off about every interaction, and I did not feel like I usually do when a story like this is progressing.
Lyla is caught up in the image of what her company stands for but does no practical calculation at all, which seemed a little hard given that she always assumed to be at the helm at some point.
Mason has an interesting back story, the spin on which felt different, but everything seemed to go a little too far when it came to plot points.
I am sure most people who look forward to Christmas stories of this kind will get more of it than I did. I would try another book by the author, given a chance.
I received this book as an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading.

Can’t really see why this was promoted as a romance read, seeing there was a massive lack there of. Was really just thrown in out of nowhere, the potential was absolutely there but just felt incredibly rushed.

The pacing was off, the ending unsatisfying, and overall just not my cup of tea.

This book was amazing! It was so much better than I was expecting. I'm sure anyone who enjoys reading Christmas and RomComs will love it.

This was a cute holiday read, but was a little undeveloped - the potential was there, it just fell a bit short. The ending felt particularly rushed.

Lyla and Mason are colleagues who, unsurprisingly, can't stand each other. When the office holiday party gets a little out of hand, Mason offers to help - if Lyla will join his family for Christmas, as his (fake) fiancee. Yule is more than Lyla bargained for, including Mason and his family.

A little romance, a little family drama, a little holiday magic - all the right ingredients for a sweet holiday book. The scenes describing Yule were well-written, and I could easily picture the town. I liked the characters, but I wish the story had been a little longer to strengthen the dialogue and plot.

Rounding up to 3 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

While I was super excited to read this during the holiday season.. I could not connect with the story or characters.

It’s a cute Christmas holiday romcom but is it the best? No but honestly I don’t mind that. Not going to lie but the blurb really did hook me in. I definitely enjoyed this.

THANK YOU NET GALLEY AND PUBLISHER FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO READ THIS. That being said, rating and feelings are my own:

Im here for a good Christmas story but sadly this missed the mark for me. It is cutesy but I needed more from it. This book felt too....screenplay-esque for my liking. Others will love it, I have no doubt. Just not for me.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Lyla and Mason. They are co CEO of her family toy company. They are constantly at each others throats. Mason gets a letter from his sister asking him to come home because his father has died. Mason asks Lyla to go with him as his fake fiancé. She goes with him. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
