it wasn't really my cup of tea, but i'm sure that if this book reaches the right audience it will be very much appreciated.

I can see the talent of the author and the beauty of the book, it just wasn't for me.

This was more philosophical and text-heavy and less place-specific than I expected. Although it did have some photos and references to specific places, it was fairly general about the mental and emotional impact of things like museums, family trips, ruins, agriculture, gardens, and so forth. There were also a number of paintings used to illuminate the way that people have felt in various settings. This book might best be suited for someone looking for a mindful approach in their reading experience -- for a reason to ponder their own surroundings and explore their own memories.

Such a strange and wonderful book. The world viewed through the lens of a photograph, icon of object. The essays that accompany them are interesting , illuminating and often surprising. Not sure that the title explains this jewel box of a book sufficiently.

Great travelers have always known that traveling can broaden the mind; here we see how it can also heal it. A Therapeutic Atlas reminds us that the world is far broader and more inspiring than we tend to appreciate day to day. I loved this and totally agree with the information. This was a great read and I've already recommended this to many people! Cannot wait to own a copy in hand!

Unconvincing attempt to armchair travel disparate places. Didn’t make this reader understand or want to visit any of them.

A Therapeutic Atlas is a guidebook to a selection of unique and inspiring places around the world that can captivate, sooth and uplift. It is aimed both at physical travellers and those wanting to enjoy the journey from
the comfort of their own armchair. The places selected are from all over the world including Australia, America, Greece and Italy. The scenery also spans mountain tops, coastal cliffs, cities and the less expected locations including a meteorite crater. There are beautiful pictures, and breath taking descriptions and points of interest. It is a book to get lost in and would make the perfect gift.

This isn't a standard coffee table book of places to visit, it's a compilation of viewing the world through painting, sculpture, the desiccated remains of saints and despots, the ruins of both modern and ancient civilization. Evocative and through provoking
